Hey Jake i have started to collect some really beautiful Japanese full arts simply based on their beauty. I think that was a great tip in the past. I think the Japanese alternate art cards are absolutely stunning and often don't have an English counterpart. Unfortunately they are very expensive on eBay. I swear they have predetermined price negotiations amongst their sellers, because of very little price volatility and neatly no auctions, which is genius but frustrating as a buyer.

Rejoined the Pokémon collecting community in February and decided to focus on collecting cards and merch for my all-time favorite Pokémon: Gengar. I also rip new sets and try for master sets (just completed Champion’s Path!) but Gengar is the focus. It feels good.

This is super handy :) I'm just getting started but I'll be honest, I'm not huge on opening packs, I really like just collecting the booster boxes, because for me, the thing I'm drawn to the most is the acrylic cases that people put their booster boxes in and displaying the cards. I love the booster box and elite trainer boxes artwork. I want to collect just those things. I'm sure I'd love if it I did open them but recently my sister got me a small box and I found myself just wanting to keep the box in the shrink wrap all nice for a display. I don't know what to do with the excess cards if I'm not playing them and I don't consider myself a trader/flipper so they just take up space. I just like the boxes, I think I'll just sit on keeping the booster boxes for display and maybe someday my niece can sell them if she wants to :)

i really love these tips, i think i just need to figure out how to sell my extras / bulk. the thing I enjoy most is pulling the cards i'm chasing myself, so it's a bit of an expensive hobby that way but to me the most fulfilling.

Hi Jake, love the video! Just wanted to ask (and I believe you may have answered this before but just wanted to double-check!), is it worth grading Base Set or WOTC holo cards even if they may only achieve PSA 5 - 7 grades? I have a few Base Set/WOTC cards I'd like to submit, but they are a little on the played side, although they still look decent in general. Many thanks!

I'm trying to get more familiar with the reverse hollow cards with the energy symbols in the background, but you can't tell on the tcgplayer. I also like the special energies with that background.

The sleeves at the ready section I find funny because I LITERALLY have them at the ready. I keep a mini tin in my purse filled with clear sleeves and then keep card savers in a side pocket. Never know when I’m gonna wanna stop and get a pack or 2

The fifth reason was the point you got me😊 some of my friends ask me many times that what would be the best product to start collecting right now. When I answer that you should buy the ones you like, the answer is always: "but what gives me the best profit??" 😂

I really took to heart your first suggestion and I think I would stick to Pokémon from the first 3 generations. I like watching Rusty open vintage packs, and I like full arts, so I would collect older Pokémon In their new full art form etc. Thanks, Jake!

I've been thinking about getting the Kanazawa box for a while, I'm pretty sure that I would be happy to have it sealed in my collection and would not regret it in the end, however, it's a hell of a lot of money for someone like me that would be the hobby budget money for 2-3 months to be honest.
Jake would you recommend fetching them for me under the circumstances?
by the way i love your content! You are authentically personable and it is always informative and fun to tune in. My tip is to not buy single cards on ebay if you cant see every corner angle grain of dust because i have had to return a few because of the surface damages like dirt and grime.

I’m pretty new to this hobby, been doing it for about a month and a half now and really enjoying it! I didn’t have an interest in Japanese cards at first but the more I collect the more I realize the untapped potential I’m missing out on! And a resident of the United States, is there any good way to buy reliable Japanese packs?
