Jamesons, and most Irish whiskeys, are lightly flavored for people who can't stand whiskey tastes. Can mix with something and not taste the alcohol. We call it kid's whiskey in my area.

Fact is irish whiskey isn't good said an ex Jameson's worker I met a few years ago. He said it can't be compared to Scottish whisky. Just like comparing champagne to cheap fizzy wine.

      Jameson is entry level whiskey.

Ireland has 40 active distilleries now. Quality changed a lot. Single Malt and Pot Still Irish Whiskey is on the rise.
Even Dublin has active distilleries now.

Jameson makes some good whiskeys, but regular Jameson is definitely not one of them. It is most definitely the worst tasting of the cheap irish whiskeys. It's only popular because people (particularly outside of Ireland) don't know any better and because they could advertise it to death.
