damn... the world building in this was insane with a bigger budget I could definitely see this becoming a show on Sci - Fi it's miles better than the shit they show on their currently
+cecollins68 Definitely better than anything on TV. However, I suspect if it was adopted by the mainstream cable channels, the higher ups would mess with the writer's creative freedom. It might make a good Netflix Orriginal, though.
Lord Apples with the amazing success of Daredevil, Agents of Shield, and Guardians of the Galaxy, I'd love to see a TV series in this style centered around the Nova Corps. Pitch this to Marvel/Disney.
I like the design aesthetics, the acting, and the overall world you've built in just over ten minutes, but it's rather hard to follow what's going on at times. The first real problem is the helmets. It's really difficult to tell who's who at any given time. If you didn't see 'Lloyd' on the blonde guy's badge in the diner, you've got no way of knowing that it's him at 4:43, and we never actually see Parker's badge when he has his helmet off. As for Parker...well, an awful lot about him didn't make sense. First off, Lloyd is clearly still alive. Parker doesn't check him for wounds or provide even the most basic first aid, even though he's apparently badly enough wounded that he died between Parker finding him and the area's coverage being restored. That situation alone should've been enough to tell Parker that A) he should get Lloyd out of there immediately and B) that the situation most definitely warrants more response than just one cop on foot. And is Parker an android or something? Because the guy who attacked him basically just plugged an HDMI cable into his cheek, deleted his brain, and replaced it with his own. It's not some sort of interface thing for the helmets, because other characters just put on the helmet for a second and it works just fine. We had no reason to believe that this technology existed before now, don't know the attacker, and we don't know why this is happening to Parker. All we know about Parker is that he's abrasive but ultimately an honest man. He treated the waitress badly, but he went out of his way to add enough of a tip to compensate for the robbery. What certainly didn't know he had a wife until the attacker mentioned it. Oh, we also know that Parker doesn't have a first name. Everyone else has one when they get tagged, but Parker doesn't. And the attacker himself: who is he? Is the tech he's using common? Because if literally anyone with a brain-transfer lunchbox can delete someone's brain and replace it with their own, holy shit, that would happen so goddamn often. And apparently it's pretty common if some nameless guy is willing to use it for the sole purpose of boning another guy's unseen, unnamed wife. Does it only work on androids with hot wives? The last scene was...well, I liked it, but it didn't really make sense. Even if there *was* reception in the diner, what would it matter? The drone told Kaminsky that NYPC can't provide them with protection outside of their territory. Did he honestly think that they'd send a gunship into territory explicitly outside of their jurisdiction? And we've seen four instances of NYPC officers being shot, and four instances where their armor did absolutely nothing to protect them. Is it just for show? Because if a behind-the-counter handgun can pierce it, what good is it? More than that, the rivalry between NYPC and MPF really should've been shown more before now. Kaminsky hasn't had a single conversation where he hasn't made it clear that he's an asshole. Has he really been going to that diner twice a week for enough time to be considered a regular, while wearing his uniform, and only *now* gets murdered for it? This could've been resolved by, say, some kind of new jurisdictional conflict. Maybe MPF doesn't have fancy future-helmets, so they can't see the clear lines that NYPC can. Example: several plainclothes officers were pursuing an armed suspect and unknowingly crossed jurisdictional lines, and what was a shootout between the suspect(s) and MPF accidentally became a three-way gunfight when NYPC responded, believing the MPF officers to be criminals as well. This scene wouldn't even need to be shown. All you need is a news story talking about how the NYPC was cleared of all wrongdoing to give the MPF officers a good reason for suddenly being willing to murder two NYPC officers in cold blood. But again, I enjoyed it. It looked great and was well-acted. If this does get a follow-up, I'd gladly watch- -wait, why is Parker listed as deceased? Someone hijacked his body. I thought the whole point was to make it look like he was still alive.
Wonderful. NYPC,a bureaucratic police force that only goes by which and what plan they go by. BASIC, SILVER,AND PREMIUM,is what they go by. Depending on what coverage each citizen has available. Within its NYPC's jurisdiction. The MPF. Metropolitan Police Force. A corrupt police department of a police force that's corrupt. Coverage in most public areas. Facial recognition. Wonder what happens if you have premium coverage, and for some unforseen circumstances that can undoubtedly happen for any reason, you DON'T get covered. What happens then? What happens if someone you know commits a crime within the NYPC's jurisdiction, and flees to the MPF's jurisdiction? Why does the MFP strongly dislike the NYPC so much?
I'd be willing to bet that the guy who skipped out on the bill didn't have coverage at all. So when the waitress pulls out a gun and blows him away, the security guys can sit and watch that, too. I guess the idea of people actually defending themselves and their property is alien to the movie makers.
I'm also quite suprised this hasn't had many views. Have you actually sent anyone links to this? It's a great concept/world you're building there. Good job!
Nice! Though, it's always silly how the insurance adjustment agent template is always used and not something more realistic and customer-focused like a AAA-style membership club or OnStar.
rather than "proof", just pretend he used the word "argument." We'd waste a lot less time if we were all a little more forgiving when replying to others flawed communications rather than just pointing out the flaw itself.
+Tanel Murd You don't seem to know much about copyright but you're accusing this creator of a violation? The creative commons is content that has an expired copyright or never had a copyright, so it can be used by anyone without having to pay for it.
dude do u really think i came here because of the copyright, im just fucking around because im bored... i dont give a damn who or what has a copyrights on where or when.... i just heard the music and wrote the very first thing that poped on my mind,,, i do it all the time, and sometimes it backfires just like it did right now... it goes to show someone somewhere out there in the fast world of internet cares :D
Please help! Somebody life insuranced me with out my consent against my will, now private security pretending to be police following me everywhere because they receive money.
Sci-Fi guns are getting more and more ridiculous and illogical these days. A more realistic version is where the weapons are smaller, pack ten times the punch and have multiple settings. But overall, this film was brilliant. Going to steal some of these ideas for fanfic I write.
How does this not have a gazillion views?
The uniforms remind me of a cross between storm troopers and Judge Dredd. Very cool.
Masterpiece! I have a bad feeling it's our own future...
OMFG I've been trying to get search engines to point me to this film so I could show it to a friend. Still one of the best shorts online :D
damn... the world building in this was insane with a bigger budget I could definitely see this becoming a show on Sci - Fi it's miles better than the shit they show on their currently
+cecollins68 couldn't agree more
+cecollins68 Definitely better than anything on TV. However, I suspect if it was adopted by the mainstream cable channels, the higher ups would mess with the writer's creative freedom.
It might make a good Netflix Orriginal, though.
incredible film- and great proof why some things should never be privatized.
...Damn..!!! DEFINITELY want to to see MORE.. A story that wants tellin, baby..!!!!
Outstanding mix, Kudos.
Awesome!. Visionary and beautiful real sci fi movie!
One of the best things I've watched this year! But I agree with the comment about losing the newsreel blips.
this was amazing. really good acting too
Amazing video very interesting world you have crafted with many ramifications. Cant wait for sequel
Best short sci fi short movie i have seen for ages.
Awesome Sci-Fi short!!! Great Job!!!
This is AWESOME. I want to see more!!!
Shame it's so short. Need more.
3 years later.
A sequel was never done :(
cause it's still rendering :D
I want one, but it will never happen :(
Those prices tho, $212 for a 3 person meal. Inflation man, gonna kill us one day
This would make a great TV series.
This needs to be a regular thing.
Loved the newsreel blips.
Realy enjoyed it...
Great concept. It's like Judge Dredd. Yet more corporate.
Really enjoyed this. A movie about a turf war between private cops would be pretty interesting.
Круто!
Stunning work....This deserves more attention!!
Amazing work dude. Simply amazing
awesome. this would make a good show.
wow, extremely well done! I'd love to see some BTS!
Throw away regular CSI, put this on TV. I'd watch a full series. Hour-long episodes, full cast. It would work.
+Mitch Haelann same, I hope the creators pitch it to a network
Lord Apples with the amazing success of Daredevil, Agents of Shield, and Guardians of the Galaxy, I'd love to see a TV series in this style centered around the Nova Corps. Pitch this to Marvel/Disney.
Amazing concept guys!!
This is very similar to the style of Snow Crash, really cool.
WOW!!! Excelent job!
Since it states TBC at the end, I can't wait to see it. :D
Please do a "Making of".
This could be an awesome tv or series. This has a really cool plot and it looks awesome with what you guys have.
wow....
amazing...
This was awesome
Amazing!
man that was good
A powerful message and great short... a bit to depressive but still awesome! :)
Incredible

wow. you talk too much
Make it a series. And at the end of the show, every cop in the episode has the "DECEASED" status. I would totally watch that shit!
nicely done!
Wonderful. NYPC,a bureaucratic police force that only goes by which and what plan they go by.
BASIC, SILVER,AND PREMIUM,is what they go by. Depending on what coverage each citizen has available.
Within its NYPC's jurisdiction.

I guess the idea of people actually defending themselves and their property is alien to the movie makers.
damn good stuff
Interesting concept. I wonder how some people today would react if this was real.
Nicely done. I like the buying police protection concept; that's pretty original.
Why the Resident Evil music though?
it was a great sci fi short film guys
Music background from Fallout starting on 6:58, anyone else recognized it?
Guys, this is really cool. If you ever need a hand let me know. What kind of Budget are you guys working with?
I'm also quite suprised this hasn't had many views. Have you actually sent anyone links to this? It's a great concept/world you're building there. Good job!
This was awesome! I'm really interested to see how you made the cop uniforms.
Dude! Awesome!!
Why isnt this in theaters when Robocop is being re-done??
M0ar!! i really like this, send me a link if they have a kickstarter
will there ever be a part two? this was amazing.
Copyright warning:
From 6:58-8:05 you can hear Fallout's ambient music mixed. :)
What so called “abolish the police” will ACTUALLY lead to.
nice! soundtrack by sync24
Cool
the shoulder pads remind me at mass effect 1 :D
What's the title of the piece of classical music that begins to play at 3:00?
In any case, this is amazing! Absolutely incredible.
It looks amazing!
Can you add subtitles?
songlist please ?
so MPF is bigger than NYPC ?
fucken awesome
Nice! Though, it's always silly how the insurance adjustment agent template is always used and not something more realistic and customer-focused like a AAA-style membership club or OnStar.
you mean most things
you mean most things ...
Special thanks to... Channing Tatum?
cool ! lol
Where is part 2?
where's the rest of the movie?
its a short film lol
End was a bit rushed, but a good short.
rather than "proof", just pretend he used the word "argument." We'd waste a lot less time if we were all a little more forgiving when replying to others flawed communications rather than just pointing out the flaw itself.
Mozart - Requiem in D minor, K. 626 - Introitus
Justin Timberlake is a cyber ninja!
oh whatever- it made a great point
did u just use resident evil music in the end, u know thats a violation of copyright , right ?
+Tanel Murd It's in the creative commons
i have no idea what any of that means but i will allow it, continiue!
+Tanel Murd You don't seem to know much about copyright but you're accusing this creator of a violation? The creative commons is content that has an expired copyright or never had a copyright, so it can be used by anyone without having to pay for it.

Finally something to show my libertarian friends who are all for corporate privatization.
Libertarian policing.
+Joseph Murray Technically its more like Anarcho-Capitalist policing, there is a difference.
ALPHA DONUTS
The editing pace seemed a bit weird and stopped me from enjoying it. But otherwise looked nice and a lot of work went into it.
A crime against a non-client is a chance to get good PR and a new client, so you lost me a bit there.
Did you guys pay for that Fallout music?
Aaron I heard it too! wasn't sure but ig I know now

Yea, sorry, but while entertaining the basic premise is rather absurd. Do a TH-cam search for The Detroit Threat Management Center to see why.

not much different to the police today lol
not bad but ripping off the theme from resident evil could get you on a lot of shit.
Pretty good, except for stealing the Fallout New Vegas and Resident Evil soundtracks.
Meh. Made it two minutes. Not Sci-Fi. Classic bait-and-switch.
