Yay no shoes my character will be bare feeted because I a pyromaniac and I hate shoes and I a man hopefuly I can have orange hair flaming sword i can be a fire dragon as well maybe no Flaming sword but at least the main character/avater is bare feeted
Infernape88 it won't be you, it would just be a Kamui with different a look. You won't be a character in the game just because you can pick a gender and hair color, not to be a kill joy or anything.
And I thought that Awakening had a lot of feels. That choosing between Nohr and Hoshido and how that will affect that characters and the relationship...Yep, this game is going to hurt.
Princess Zelda Right? I had a hard time choosing between the rival groups in Paralogue 13 and those were characters that I had no connection to at all. How am I going to choose between two groups that I have a truly deep connection with? I can just see myself getting to that point and then closing my 3DS, unable to make the decision on the spot.
After having played the game for a while, it's amazing to see how this video was almost 100% accurate. You do know your symbolisms well, and your analyses were mostly spot on. :D
It's probably really silly and not worth commenting on but I think it's kind of cool that the logo reflects the East vs West nature of the game. Where the "i" in "if" is a western sword and the "f" is an eastern styled sword.
I know... I didn't think translation took that long. I mean, people already translated the dialouge in the trailers. Maybe Nintendo should let the fan service translate the game for them so that we can get the game earlier.
It probably has to do with the localization to match the slang or sayings, if any, in translation. This is a big part that needs to happen before they obtain voice actors and audition them because they'll need a script beforehand.
My guess is that they are gonna make the American/European Version a combination of the Nohr and Hoshido sides because in Japan both are different games.
Anyone else have a feeling that we'll have to kill Garon, regardless of what side we choose? From his cold looks and dialogue, his intentions are anything *but* good.
Well, the Japanese site says that siding with Hoshido is battling the Nohr while siding with Nohr is reforming their country from the inside... So that's most likely the case. I can see Kamui killing Garon and possibly becoming king (if Marx doesn't - he gives me a strong Camus vibe, honestly)
Vera Limani I don't mean that Garon will "die." I mean he will have the same thing happen to him as with Gangrel in Awakening's ending (if you didn't marry him, that is). Garon will simply disappear after the war has ended, never to be seen again.
Arcademan09 I was 100% for Nohr, then I find there might not be any side missions to level units, like the Risen battles in awakening. I that case, I'll probably go Nohr or that 3rd story line.
The games already looked awesome from the trailer, but hearing you explaining them in detail makes it infinitely more interesting. Fingers crossed we get more soon! Great job at looking at the small details, some were easy to miss!
I really wanted to go Nohr, but the lack of the map thing from Awakening spoils it for me. One of the best parts of Awakening was using DLC and Reeking Boxes so that I could use my ENTIRE party and not just a few. Also, I really hope Kamui's class leans more towards manakete, even though it looks more like Taguel. If Kamui's is locked into 1 range on their default classes, I swear to Naga...
Are you kidding me, the map system from Awakening is the reason I'm not siding with the Hoshido. The grinding aspect takes all the risk out of the game- if you're a bad FE player and want to Rofl Stomp all over it, fine, but that takes out all the strategy from the game- which is what FE is supposed to be. Conservation and smart distribution of EXP makes the game more difficult, more strategic, and more fun- which is what classic FE was.
Oh look, a classic FE fan who dislikes Awakening for being "too easy". Again. Next thing you're going to tell me is that Awakening brought "dirty casuals" and "waifu culture" to the community, right? You guys are starting to get on my nerves. I'll explain to you, as a fellow strategist who has no interest in waifus, why I don't think the map and grinding are bad. That way, this elitist fandom will actually listen to me. I'm awful at Fire Emblem, if only for one reason- I like to have an even party with one or two overpowered members as backup. This is very, very hard without grinding. I do wean off characters I tend to use less (Virion and Miriel, for example), but I like to experiment with different teams and strategies. The way they made this makes my preferred playstyle nonexistent on the Nohr side. Which I was planning to play. Not many people use the map like I do, because most people (at least, those who play FE with strategy) pick favorites and use those. If you don't, you quickly become underleveled and might as well start over. I'll admit there's some fun in grinding a bit and blasting through the game with only the main characters, but that's not really what I play these games for. I'm upset because I'll have to pick a few units and stick to them, which is a bit boring and makes the game less emotional for me- I might as well play casual, because I won't care if my unused units die. Also, the map didn't have to be used for grinding. You could just go to the next location if you wanted to. I don't know why it bothers you.
I get what you're saying about attachment to characters- but hey, that's what multiple saves are for. Everything I replay a game I mix it up and use other unit, so every playthrough seems fresh and entertaining. Instead of spending 300 hours on one save, I've got 30 hours on several saves. It really doesn't take away from the development of the characters, even with a limit on support conversations. Just play it differently each time and you never miss out.
Vera Limani Actually three is a very limited ammount. Or two since to make sure I don't mess up I use two per game. Also I done quite a bit playing on lunatic and let me tell this - Actually only one or two of my characters were useful during the normal leveling up. And it was mostly my Avatar created to favour defense in order to survive more than two attacks of the enemy (which will happen often on quite a few maps since enemies will rush you). Leveling anyone else naturally was pain in the ass since they mostly died in one hit (and there was almost always more than one enemy in range). So I did train the rest to reasonable levels using DLC. Don't get me wrong though - It's still hard but at least it's not blocking the road with my main character anymore (She still got enough EXP to get to level 15 Grandmaster before chapter 16 and became it before chapter 7 I think). And really three saveslots are not much.
Things you missed: - You called Hinoka "Hisoka" twice. - When noting connections between the pair-up battle scene and the earlier scene with Saizou and Orochi, you somehow missed that the enemy Cavalier in the battle had a similar hairstyle to the enemy Cavalier in the cutscene. - The white-haired person in the scene with Kamui and Ryouma in the throne room seems to also be in the pair-up battle. - The HP bars having different colors was in Awakening as well. It's particularly apparent in the EXPonential Growth DLC, as that one has a mix of enemies with the same class but vastly differing HP stats. Generally, a bar that goes to orange or yellow signifies low HP, while one that goes to purple indicates very high HP. - As long as you're bringing up the bridge battle from the January Direct, the enemy Dark Knight on the bridge and the enemy Troubadour on the other side of the river bear a striking resemblance to your Nohr "family", specifically the currently unnamed mage and the little sister. - As long as we're bringing up the January Direct, the battlefield where the player creates a bridge out of nowhere looks an awful lot like the map where Kamui talks with the bald man Ganz. In fact, both the pink-haired staff person and the purple-haired knight appear in the Ganz scene as well, behind Kamui's portrait. (I'm gonna be very upset if TH-cam messes up my attempt at formatting.)
Ardith50 Tsubaki is a pegasus knight, she/he seems to be A) a guy, our first male pegasus, or B) a reverse Libra, a very handsome girl instead of a pretty man.
Megan Martin It seems like the pink haired cleric is the pink haired maid from the first trailer that was waking you up (can't remember her name). Also, the purple haired cavalier is definetly not Camilla, that person is probably the unnamed Great Knight with purple hair that appears on the Nohr game's cover in the left.
Shireke01 Well, I know that the purple-haired knight most likely isn't Camilla, but the reason why I know that isn't something that appeared in the trailer. Likewise, I don't think the boxart appeared in the trailer (the American one, at least), and it seems unfair to be using outside resources for an analysis of the trailer specifically. The pink-haired staff person being Felicia the maid is another theory I've seen floating around, but imo there's not much substantiating it right now.
I think that the Hoshidin man that is seen getting shot with arrows is your biological father. Think about it, he has hair like your brother Ryuma, has armor similar to Ryuma, and even has the same sword as Ryuma. Maybe he tried to escape with a a young Kamui, but was killed trying to bring you to safety. And after he was killed, Garon saw that you were a Manakete, and took you in.
You're great at this guys, well done spotting the triage and explaining why Kamui attacks the dancer! But I always thought it was pronounced Mana-keet... then again I've never heard it pronounced by an official source~
~Senpai_Hype~ The one with the huge tits on the other side seems alright. Or if you are into some full on weeaboo action, the blonde haried evil girl fits the bill.
Lol. The dragonstones can change his/her form from human, to manakete. Or dragon form. Perhaps his clothes change in accordance with his/her form. In a way, the two left feet could symbolize the female avatar being different to the story's outcome and the relationships with other Characters. Or maybe she is a different dragon? Either way, one thing is for certian. The dancer will be on your side, until you kill her. This seems like Eliwood's mistake with Ninian, FOR Those Of you who know what I'm talking about. Hint/spoilers for FE 7. Ninian is dead. Eliwood kills her.
Not sure if someone's pointed it out yet, but GameXplain asserted that Kamui class was likely Lord. But Kamui's class title is actually 'Dark Prince'. (Presumably a female Kamui would be a 'Dark Princess'.) The Dark Prince class was used by one single other character in the franchise, Julius from FE4. Julius, it should be mentioned, was the vessel for an evil dragon. Which might have some meaning with Kamui's weird dragon/deer transformation.
I wonder if there will actually be waifus this time in addition to the pair up system in battle? It would be pretty awkward since most of the characters seem to be your blood-related or adoptive family.
yaragorm Maybe not. Then again there are other characters and it's not like Chrom could marry Lissa in Awakening so you simply wouldn't be able marry them. Or it could be like when you "marry" Lucina and Owain and they become partners or something like that.
yaragorm Of course you'll be able to marry characters like in previous games before. But be warned that on the Nohr side as said in here, the gameplay is gonna be more traditional, meaning that you can't grind on supports, but you should be able to on the Hoshido side since it's style is more like Sacred Stones and Awakening. Naturally through their will be limits for all characters on who they can support, but Kamuei should be able to marry anyone like Robin.
DMD00 In my opinion FE: PoR did supports the best. Just have the characters participate in a certain amount of battles together to get conversations. It allows for the plot to influence character development as well.
Hi guys, great analysis. Just some things that you missed: The text when Kamui makes the bridge say Dragons Vein. On the Japanese website, it reveals that Kamui is a Dark Prince who is able to use swords and dragonstones. In the artwork on the website, it shows Camilla holding an axe, meaning she is probably a Wyvern Rider, as she is Hinoka's opposite. Finally, the artwork also shows that the dancer is holding some sort of staff or lance, meaning either dancers can use staffs or lances now, or she isn't a dancer at all. That's all! Keep it up! (I am soooo obsessed with this game!)
Andrew Martinez Many ancient and medieval cities had multiple walls to protect the inner city from enemy attacks. _Attack on Titan_ just used the walls as the focus of it's story. This Fire Emblem game seems to be taking notes from many aspects of European history aside from this as well.
awesomecake I was give my characters the names Zekrom and Reshiram, Cressalia and Darkrai, Latios and Latias, Groudon and Kyogre or Xerneas and Yveltal myself, the whole opposites thing.
The Victator There are going to be two games, so I'm going to buy both at the same time of course. I will play one chapter on one and then another chapter on the other so they both get finished at around the same time. I will probably choose Nohr first because the blonde haired girl seems to be closer to the main character than the Hoshido kin. I'm not choosing by design; I'm choosing on loyalty and attachment to the main character or the MU.
The text in battle says Ryuumyaku (竜脈) or dragon pulse/current/stream. Its thought to be a stream of energy given off from the Earth. If you've played Devil Survivor 2 it plays a large role in protecting Japan.
In reference to the health bars, that's actually not new at all. The same was implimented in Awakening where the HP bars at their lowst go from blue to orange, from around 20 HP, it will turn from orange to yellow. At 30, yellow will turn to green. At 40, the whole bar is a solid light blue, and from 40 to 80 the bar progressively goes to a deeper blue.
Camalua, while not holding a weapon, you can tell that she is a wyvern rider due to the armor that is on her hips. Those metal lines are used for wyvern riders in Fire Emblem: Awakening also. 11:50 for reference.
me either, i'm considering nohr more because the blond sister already looks like she will break into tears but at the same time i have never played fire emblem before thisso it would be difficult... brb i'm going to go get awakening
You guys should consider Hoshido side first: it has been stated that it would be easier than Nohr. You don't want to take easy mode on your second run. Also the choice is totally between Marx and Ryoma what are you guys doing
Me: "Gonna choose the Hoshido because they're so cool!" Derrick: "Your younger sister's name is...... Sakura....." Me: "WHAT?! SAKURA?! Ok I don't want a grumpy "useless" character like Sakura as my sister. Absolutely NO!" * Switches to Nohr instead * lol (Obviously Naruto joke of course!) xD
The inverted looking structure in the Nohr capital looks to me to be the amphitheater from the last trailer where Garen was watching the Dancing Girl perform.
wow this was really helpful actually. Just a note about the health bars at 17:20. that was implemented in Awakening. blue to orange was more health and blue to yellow was less health.
I am still curious, because in the original/first trailer at the very end you can hear a magic portal of sorts, it sounds like it is being open, but then the effect suddendly stops and you can only hear a single raindrop crashing with water.
Saphiria TheBlueDragonKnight You could start with this one actually, the Hoshido side looks more open to newcomers and when you get down the mechanics, you can tackle the harder Nohr side (which is more like most FE games), and presumably Casual mode will return making it easier on newcomers to this franchise like yourself.
***** Except those game's are nigh impossible to get, especially Path of Radiance (Radiant Dawn got a reprint, but I would NOT recommend starting with that game).
I have to agree with Crawford. Radiant dawn was my first game but awakening (my 2nd game) got me into the older games because the free dlc made me think "who are these characters? I must know their origins!". And it seems more newb friendly than others.
Not sure if someone else already commented about this but in the games case art for the Japanese versions it shows Camilla with an Axe. So she might be the first female fighter/berserker class just like some people think we might be getting male Pegasus knights! Anyways, always love your Fire Emblem Videos GameXplain! Well done! :D
supervideomaker9136 You're not "taking them down". You're trying to reform it from the inside. Basically, fixing cracks in a wall before it tumbles down.
The differentiating health bar colors were in Awakening. You are correct, they are a way to tell what a unit's max health is at a glance. Usually, if they have a darker blue to something like an orange, they have high health. Lighter blue to greenish yellow, that's usually low.
If it was me personally, then I would choose Nohr. I mean, these were the people who raised me, trained me, and other such things so I could never betray that, even for my blood family. It doesn't really help that I wouldn't know anything about my Hoshidan lineage so I wouldn't have anything tying me to them besides blood.
+bloodraven432 Same here. I couldn't possibly betray those who raised me with love and affection /plus gave me training in the art of war/ for the sake of strangers who just happen to share the same blood as me. Besides, I'd want to help my adopted people /the Nohr/ achieve a better future so I'd stick with them. Having said that, it'd be heartbreaking for me to have to fight my biological family who love me as well but I'd work towards ending the war between the two kingdoms, just from the Nohr side is all.
In the ending of the second trailer (~1:52 for the youtube video), the names of the 2 royal families were shown in a similar manner to the yingyang symbol. Maybe it's symbolism to one family being outwardly good with evil within, and the other family looks outwardly evil but has truly good intentions?
I can't be the only person who will be playing Nohr version or what ever it's called. Yes, The Hosihido are possibly the good guys, but come on guys. Glory. GLORY!
JJthebanana Nah, its da boobz. :P In all seriousness, I just want to play a more traditional FE game. I was introduced to the series through _Awakening_, but the more I hear about the series, the previous titles seem to be more appealing to me.
Oh my god this game looks FANTASTIC!! Just the way that Derick was explaining the possible story elements was extremely cool and now I feel invested more than ever about this game. Curse you Gamexplain!
Pretty great analysis! you could give more emphasis to the dragon bits... I was going crazy once I found out... BTW, you should check the info on the page of serenesforest... They did an analysis on the info in Japan, with lots of details, on pricing and storyline (two games) with the other route being DLC... and a third possible campaign as well
This may be a crazy theory, but I think this may actually be a Jugdral game that takes place many years after FE4/5. After all, Awakening did that with Ylisse actually being Archanea, with even the Falchion being present with a redesign. First of all, the sword Marx is holding looks remarkably similar to the Holy Weapon of the Hezul family of Augustria, the Mystletainn. Also, the Nohr kingdom could easily be Augustria, with Hoshido being Isaach. Not only is Augustria the westernmost kingdom of Jugdral, as well as Nohr being the Western kingdom, but there's an exact parallel with Isaach and Hoshido. To add to this, Augustria has a long history of corrupt rulers, horse riding royal princes with demon blades, and trying to bite off more than they can chew. Also Isaach has a long history of great, peace loving rulers, fighting strictly on land, and caring very much about kinsmanship. Also, the only thing that is in between through all of it, other than the player character, is a seemingly very spiritual girl who seems to have a connection with the dragon tribe, similar to Deirdre/Julia from FE4. And both Hoshido and Nohr have strong connections with the divine dragon tribe of Jugdral. It's possible that Augustria, sometime in the past, conquered the entire western half of Jugdral and Isaach, in order to protect its own freedom, took over the eastern half. And this theory may seem really crazy, but perhaps the main character is directly descended from both Naga and Loptyr, which is why he can turn into a dragon. This also explains his black and white overall color scheme, as well as him sometimes turning on his teammates as a dragon. It could be that sometimes Loptyr takes control and turns him evil, which is why he would attack the dancing girl, considering Naga is Loptyr's mortal enemy, and the dancing girl is most likely descended from Naga. This might be why the whole point of the game is probably to bring balance between Loptyr and Naga, finally ending the battle between good and evil in Jugdral.
It's possible but they mentioned it having no connection to previous games. It could be done as an implied thing and not made important (just having a few things that suggest that it's Jugdral) but at the same time a lot of western fans haven't heard of Jugdral so I doubt it
I always thought Jugdral was Archanea in the past, or at least, in the same world but different continent. Which would explain why the Deadlords and the Regelia from Jugdral are in Awakening. Considering they had Mystletainn in Awakening looking completely different from the blade Marx is wielding
Vera Limani 1: It is entirely possible that Jugdral is Archanea in the past, which is why the Tyrfing looks so similar to the Falchion. 2: I'm talking about how Marx's blade looks a ton like the original Mystletainn design. Also, Marx's blade has evil looking stuff coming out of it, which could represent a demonic force inside the blade. Since the Mystletainn is also called the "Demon Blade", it's possible Marx's blade and the Mystletainn are one and the same. The part of the design of the blade that really tips me off, however, is the red jewel in the middle.
When you mentioned the lanterns and went to the scene where Sakura receives the news, you mention the lanterns being visible. If you look closely, the third from the right is broken, just like in the battle shot with the ninja. If the lantern breaks prior to that, it's likely that the scene with Sakura happens after that. If the Archer is wounded, could it have happened during the attack on Hoshido Castle?
I actually felt this analysis fell a little flat. There weren't any "crazy" theories in this analysis. There was no mention of the dancer not wearing any shoes as well. Pretty sure that's a big clue since the avatar doesn't wear shoes either. But then again, it's because I already watched what I felt was a better analysis lol. Still a decent analysis all around and thanks for all the work put in.
zero67 According to this other analysis I watched. The guy suggested the dancer could possibly be a "light dragon" and the avatar being the "dark dragon". In one screenshot, the avatar's eyes were red apparently.
@ 17:22 you started to mention about the health bars. Looking at the horseman, it looks to me like a Great Knight. Maybe the different color health bar is showing that the unit has more health then the other two. Which it should be for a promoted unit.
It's kinda funny you can translate the name and the lines in Fire Emblem If analysis, but you didn't translate any names in the SMT x FE analysis even though it's full of references to Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei.
I know its a trailer analysis but there was more pictures recently released showing a purple-haired person on a dragon with an axe, and the main website shows Camilla has an axe, so the person at 17:28 using a spear, is probably a different character. Edit: The box art for the Nohr side shows a guy with purple hair with a spear too.
I think you can. Remember how in Awakening your avatar could have like any colour hair and it would show up during the game? I think they're gonna allow the full model to be seen in cutscenes.
Jamie Gingell Doubt it. Theres that one scene that has a hat that specifically only covers his head. They probably wouldn't do that if they were going for that.
*face palms* was I the only one who got the family's mixed up? I thought Marx and his family were the peace loving hoshido and lobster Lord and his family were the evil nohr side...
Actually, there was a screenshot revealing that Kamui's base class is apparently "Dark Prince". Which I'm pretty sure was the same class as the final boss in Genealogy of the Holy War.
I hate the news that you cant grind in the nohr campaign since grinding was one of my favorite things they added in awakening and i really want to join Nohr but its basically telling me to choose (i know its not forcing me to buy the game bt still) between one or the other and technically i still don't get what i want i hope they change this
Andrew Martinez yeah but what i basically liked about grinding was it gave me more freedom in characters and in getting to know them like fire emblem usually has many characters with diverse personality's but it is quite difficult to level them all up together meaning some are gonna be left behind i liked being able to not have to worry about that and being able to enter a map with a team I thought was best and not having to worry about losing one unit in specific and it also helped getting to know them and getting attached so the lack of grinding really makes me sad
Clocktothetick Well we don't even know how many characters in general the Nohr side is getting, what if they change how often you have to fight together for support conversations on Nohr to make up for the lack of Map? there not gona make it nearly impossible to get to a high level and support the characters or else Hoshido would basically be superior. There might still be a map of some kind or else Nohr wont even have the Streetpass functionality while Hoshido would, theres to many things un-answered basically.
was awakening your 1st game? theres only been 3 out of 14 titles that you can grind to death (other 2 is Gaiden and Sacred Stones). they like to mix it up time to time. this old style is what gave the game more replayability lmao. also you cant use all 30+ characters on one map, you also have to plan your resources better. though, i still grind in the games if you can find the exploits hehe (just no second seals in those games. i bet that item is going to return, if so then i guess more spam farming haha). i guess Nintendo wanted to cater to veterans and newcomers. Making Camilia being in Nohr was just a ploy to make beginners play the traditional route muahahaha (jk). granted casual mode is coming back so no worries for them.
17:09 No, that's not Camilla. Camilla is a Wyvern Rider, she's seen holding an axe on the boxart and another screenshot clearly shows a female Wyvern Rider with purple hair. This guy is most likely the older-looking purple-haired guy from the Japanese Nohr boxart. Seeing as he has much higher HP than the others and this appears to be a very early map, I think we've found Nohr's Jagen. The pink-haired Cleric is one of the maids from the first trailer, judging by her headpiece. The really interesting thing is her sprite appears on Hoshido route maps too, indicating she might be playable regardless of which side you choose.
The above choice when the MC is creating a bridge I believe can be translated into Dragon (竜) Vein (脈). Though I am having a difficult time clearly identifying the second kanji.
I don't understand Japanese very well, but doesn't "Onii" mean Brother? Exclusively I mean. So, what if you chose the female class? Will the cutscene be different, or will both genders exist in the same world? I dunno...
***** Probably, I was thinkin' there's no way they would do that...but they have a huuuuge budget this time around, so I guess recording an extra line or two won't hurt them~
Donhambino That's completely and utterly wrong. First, an "oni" is a demon, you're thinking of onii; second, onii exclusively refers to an older brother, or at least someone with the role of an older brother, onee being the thing referring to an older sister. Sibling is "kyoudai".
thewizardninja I don't care about spelling, whatever it sounds like, that's how I'll spell it. Besides I said I think so I knew I could be wrong, no need to get your panties in a bunch
also these health bars are already in awakening, it just help indicate their max health, but probably they would give you the option to switch it to "normal" hp bars.
OOOOHHHHH Maybe that Mage/dark knight guy with the bits of rock flying around him could be responsible for that giant Rock Monster in the first teaser trailer, because in that trailer it appeared to be fighting Hoshido Soldiers. Makes sense to me at least.
I think the mysterious girl with what you call horns is wearing an Oni mask, like in Japanese mythology. And I think she's in the fighting scene that takes place in Hoshido, with the lanterns.
I am worried about this game for a few reasons. 1. the fact that there are two entirely different stories means that each story almost has to have less content than one single story would, also meaning fewer characters recruit. 2. The fact that the nohr side is more difficult seems like a bad development choice. instead of picking the side that they want to pick, people will choose a side based on difficulty. 3.(minor) is this game capable of having 4 save slots? awakening only had three and we will need 4 if we want to do everything EX: Hoshido male, Hoshido female, Nohr male, and Nohr female.
1. Pretty sure its been stated by the devs in the Japanese version(split between two games) they will have roughly the same amount, if not more content than awakening each. 2. Yeah that sorta does suck, but I imagine its coming from a Japanese view. Make the more familiar culture easier and appealing for newcomers and probably a western release will have one full copy so people go in knowing one paths easier with a simple story, while the others harder with a more interesting story. 3. Yeah, but that's hard to say if they will. Its certainly possible, but who knows.
Aaron Daniels The official website said that each game has the same amount of content as Awakening. So basically, it's not a game in half, it's 2 games together.
I find the chatbox art interesting. There seems to be a kind of neutral one at 4:00. Later, at 6:41 it has a green tinge, and at 10:30 a purple tinge. This separation seems to happen right after you make the choice, which implies the green tinge is used when you're playing the hoshido side, the purple on the nohr side, and the neutral before the choice. Sadly, the only interesting thing I can get off it is that in the first trailer, Marx's dialogue reveals his father is evil and he is in disbelief, and it is in the hoshido tinge. Maybe the nohr characters turn on the king in the hoshido storyline when they realize he is evil?
1. The ability used by Kamui in the game is called "Dragon's Vein" 2. Box art of both versions has also revealed another thing: you will have a personal maid and butler. The Nohr side has an aqua-haired maid and an older, purple-haired butler while the Hoshido side has Felicia (the maid from the first trailer) and a younger butler. In fact, the purple-haired Nohran butler is possibly the paladin character in the scene Kamui uses Dragon's Vein. It's also possible Felicia is the cleric, but that also brings up why characters from opposing sides are on the same side. Though it has been shown that she's Nohran and at the beginning of the game so it's possible this is before the big decision and she chooses to stay with you. 3. The creature Kamui turns into appears to be based not on a dragon, but one a Kirin (or Qilin in Chinese), a creature best described as a mix between a dragon and a deer thus explaining the exotic design when compared to the traditional Western-style dragons of previous games.
We complained about no feet... Now we get no shoes.
The art for the Female MC shows 2 left feet... i think evolution in fire emblem took a different route.
IronFishChannel
We'll you do pick a name as well, and now that your making choices and stuff, but i think it's preety obvious the MC isn't you.
IPrayDuhGame and two left feet for the girls XD
This is like choosing between your two best friends for a team project.
Hi Maurice! xD Why am I not surprised to find you here xD
Except you also have to stab the other friend with a blade
***** How is that any different?
Tdragonkid Alot less blood.
HiMyNameIsMaurice but you cant have two best friends only one
And I thought that Awakening had a lot of feels.
That choosing between Nohr and Hoshido and how that will affect that characters and the relationship...Yep, this game is going to hurt.
***** Agreed. You'd think it was bad enough to watch Emmeryn fall and then have to kill Mustafa.
***** Agreed.
Lol, I had trouble choosing for that Paralogue in Awakening as well. I ended up fighting both.
If you want feels try playing FE: 4. Gets me every time.
123Atheist Dat middle section...the villain is such a prick in that game. Probably one of the most insane twists ever devised in a Videogame.
After having played the game for a while, it's amazing to see how this video was almost 100% accurate. You do know your symbolisms well, and your analyses were mostly spot on. :D
j
I just love in the promo art the artist made a goof up, cause the female Kamui has two left feet ^^;;
TheKaitoCooper Whoops.
TheKaitoCooper Hey, at least they actually have feet now
TheKaitoCooper still better than no feet at all
TheKaitoCooper Not just that.. Her spine.. It's unnatural.
Guess you could say... somethings not right ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Props for playing Id Hope in the background!
It's probably really silly and not worth commenting on but I think it's kind of cool that the logo reflects the East vs West nature of the game. Where the "i" in "if" is a western sword and the "f" is an eastern styled sword.
I didn't notice it. Cool of you for mentioning it and worth commenting on.
Giovanny Jorge Interesting insight.
I really wish we were getting this a lot sooner than 2016. :(
I know... I didn't think translation took that long. I mean, people already translated the dialouge in the trailers. Maybe Nintendo should let the fan service translate the game for them so that we can get the game earlier.
eZflaffer Well in regards to translation it's not only the text. They also need to hire and record an English cast for the voice overs.
Prince Kalian US and EU and getting the second "story" as DLC.
GameXplain: Masters of the analysis.
Good job as always you guys.
These recent analyses are incredible. Keep up the good work!
***** like how walhart was good?
I think Garon is going to live, but he will be dethroned, like Gangrel
Gangrel was "dead" for most of the game. Bringing him back just cheapened his supposed death- I hope they don't do it again with Garon
Vera Limani I don't mean that Garon will "die." I mean he will have the same thing happen to him as with Gangrel in Awakening's ending (if you didn't marry him, that is). Garon will simply disappear after the war has ended, never to be seen again.
I'm 100% going Nohr. I mean look at that well rounded plot Cammila provides
Also, Nohr's color scheme.
Arcademan09 I was 100% for Nohr, then I find there might not be any side missions to level units, like the Risen battles in awakening. I that case, I'll probably go Nohr or that 3rd story line.
I was gonna go Nohr but it threw me off when they said that Nohr won't have a free roam map like in Awakening.
Arcademan09 k
Arcademan09 k
The health bar thing was present in previous Fire Emblem games, and yes, it does illustrate the max health of a character.
Didn't the trailer said if you chose Nohr you would be fighting a corrupt government from the inside? So is Garen the final boss on both sides?
The Dark Ace People seem to have ignored this, I don't think choosing Nohr necessarily means you play as a bad guy.
The games already looked awesome from the trailer, but hearing you explaining them in detail makes it infinitely more interesting. Fingers crossed we get more soon! Great job at looking at the small details, some were easy to miss!
Definitely going Nohr. They got benefits
Friends?
More than friends
Hardin Twentyfive Yep ;)
Hardin Twentyfive Chocolate Chip Cookies?
There's some big chips in that cookie
I would love an HD Fire Emblem. FE for WII U!
YES. We need that.
SMT X FE?
chknrsandTBBTROX73 That's not a Fire Emblem game. We mean something that's part of the main series.
Only if they had full VA, then I would be for it.
chknrsandTBBTROX73 I don't think Fire Emblem needs VA. Sure it would be nice, but the series has been perfectly fine without it.
If Kamui's is locked into 1 range on their default classes, I swear to Naga...
goldengurl20101 Kamui's class is Dark Prince, and he can use swords and dragonstones.
No matter what GameXplain, your trailer analysis's always amaze me
Things you missed:
- You called Hinoka "Hisoka" twice.
He called the blonde archer Tsubaki a couple times when Tsubaki is a red-head and he/she was the one talking with Kazahana.
Shireke01
Well, I know that the purple-haired knight most likely isn't Camilla, but the reason why I know that isn't something that appeared in the trailer.
Camilla is a Wyvern rider as shown on the Japanese website which also has a big poster with a bunch of other characters on it.
So avatar is a Manakete and a Lord. If he/she gets the Falchion they might literally kill themselves from their own bullshit!
The Falchion probably won't be in this game. At least in the main game. The avatar isn't a Manakete either, since he/she isn't a dragon.
123Atheist maybe not a full one but their are signs of Kamui being able to transform into a dragon.
TheMike5125 I wouldn't really call it a dragon, but then again, it is Fire Emblem we're talking about.
TheMike5125 The Avatar is not a Lord. Screenshots of the game confirm that his/her class is "Dark Prince/Princess".
MrSentinel07 Hmm Same class as Julius
Great analysis as always! A lot of things only the analysis machine can get
I think that the Hoshidin man that is seen getting shot with arrows is your biological father.
Amazing as always. Where would we be without these analyses. Sad and confused, probably.
This game looks fantastic.
You're great at this guys, well done spotting the triage and explaining why Kamui attacks the dancer! But I always thought it was pronounced Mana-keet... then again I've never heard it pronounced by an official source~
Wait... The little red headed girl is your sister?!...
Shit gotta scope out a new Waifus then
~Senpai_Hype~ The one with the huge tits on the other side seems alright. Or if you are into some full on weeaboo action, the blonde haried evil girl fits the bill.
Too many choices >_
Don't pick your waifus before even seeing all the waifus
~Senpai_Hype~ Yeah, both of your sisters are freaking adorable, I seriously can't choose between them, cause I don't want to see the other sad.
DMD00 Hopefully you don't have to kill one of them eventually...
According to screenshots and the Japanese website, Camila is a Wyvern Knight, which shows a parallel between Wyverns vs Pegasi :D
Female kamui has 2 left feet, wtf intelligent systems?
GDKsan That's why she's not the dancer.
......
Get it?
Give them a break; feet are a new discovery over at IS.
goldengurl20101 . . .
GDKsan Hey; At least they HAVE feet.
Not sure if someone's pointed it out yet, but GameXplain asserted that Kamui class was likely Lord. But Kamui's class title is actually 'Dark Prince'. (Presumably a female Kamui would be a 'Dark Princess'.)
The Dark Prince class was used by one single other character in the franchise, Julius from FE4.
Since there's no children, it'll probably be like supports from FE 6-9. Maybe with the main character being able to support anyone.
yaragorm Of course you'll be able to marry characters like in previous games before.
It allows for the plot to influence character development as well.
yaragorm i agree, but in japan marrying your cousin is fine so adoptive family is good to go, just saying
Hi guys, great analysis. Just some things that you missed:
The text when Kamui makes the bridge say Dragons Vein.
Is it me or does nohr's capital look like the attack on Titan walls.
Probably one of my first reactions
The internet in a nutshell:
If it has walls, it's Attack on Titan.
It was a bunch of walls though, if it was just one giant wall all around then thats common.
Andrew Martinez Many ancient and medieval cities had multiple walls to protect the inner city from enemy attacks. _Attack on Titan_ just used the walls as the focus of it's story. This Fire Emblem game seems to be taking notes from many aspects of European history aside from this as well.
Supertron
Fair enough, i didnt actually know that so thanks, but people tend to compare media to a different media rather then history.
Thank you very much gamexplain. I've been waiting for the analysis :)
I might name my character Senketsu or Junketsu... If you get the reference.
I'll probably make two games. When I take Hoshido I'll name myself Junketsu. When I take Nohr I'll name myself Senketsu. ' 3 '
awesomecake I was give my characters the names Zekrom and Reshiram, Cressalia and Darkrai, Latios and Latias, Groudon and Kyogre or Xerneas and Yveltal myself, the whole opposites thing.
awesomecake They are 2 versions for each path at least in the Japanese version
Finally! Been waiting a week for this! Thanks.
Am I the only one here who wants to go Hoshido? I find their design far more interesting than the gloomy Nohr artstyle.
The Victator I think I like Nohr partly because it's gloomy. I want to learn more about what they're about.
I'm pretty sure some of the words in there were mispronounced, such as Camilla, Kamui, and Manakete, but I'm not sure.
It's MAN-AH-KEET
John Smith He pronounced Kamui just fine.
Heh, he called it: Manuhkehtay.
Its pronounced ka-mwee
And max (spelled mākusu with no r)
Making me choose between Sakura or your Blonde Sister....ooooh that's gonna be tough, I don't want to make neither of them sad.
I had the same thought process, but I will go with Hoshido side first.
I'll go for Nohr first, you just can't resist such a cutie as her. ;-;
idk they are both so kawii
me either, i'm considering nohr more because the blond sister already looks like she will break into tears but at the same time i have never played fire emblem before thisso it would be difficult... brb i'm going to go get awakening
You guys should consider Hoshido side first: it has been stated that it would be easier than Nohr. You don't want to take easy mode on your second run.
Also the choice is totally between Marx and Ryoma what are you guys doing
I really appreciate your work, this analysis was so in depth... Well done.
*Plot Twist:*
Nohr are good, Hoshido are evil.
Seriously good work with this one guys. This game looks amazing, I'm really looking forward to it!
Me: "Gonna choose the Hoshido because they're so cool!"
Derrick: "Your younger sister's name is...... Sakura....."
Me: "WHAT?! SAKURA?! Ok I don't want a grumpy "useless" character like Sakura as my sister. Absolutely NO!"
* Switches to Nohr instead *
lol (Obviously Naruto joke of course!) xD
The inverted looking structure in the Nohr capital looks to me to be the amphitheater from the last trailer where Garen was watching the Dancing Girl perform.
this game is going to be toture for me and my "always pick the third option" method of choice.
Dlc for a third option has already been announced in Japan lol
Psychic Trout yay....
wow this was really helpful actually. Just a note about the health bars at 17:20. that was implemented in Awakening. blue to orange was more health and blue to yellow was less health.
If you look carefully, the man that was shot with arrows has the same sword as ryouma
I am still curious, because in the original/first trailer at the very end you can hear a magic portal of sorts, it sounds like it is being open, but then the effect suddendly stops and you can only hear a single raindrop crashing with water.
Maybe Kamui has no shoes so the game can show off the fact that the player models have feet now?
I've been waiting for this one! Awesome!
This game really makes me want to get into the Fire Emblem series. Which game should I start with?
awakening
And it seems more newb friendly than others.
joe milton
of course
Not sure if someone else already commented about this but in the games case art for the Japanese versions it shows Camilla with an Axe. So she might be the first female fighter/berserker class just like some people think we might be getting male Pegasus knights!
Anyways, always love your Fire Emblem Videos GameXplain! Well done! :D
Many also believe her to be a draco/dragon/wyvern rider, given they did use Ax's in awakening and her stance on the cover looks similar to cherche.
Leakmaster Phoenix Wright was here.
Any leaks tday?
OBJECTION!
where are your leaks?
as always good job on the analysis gamexplain
My friend told me if you chose nohr, your taking them down from the inside, is that true
It was mentioned in the US Direct so yeah its true.
supervideomaker9136 You're not "taking them down".
The different health bar colors measure max health. The same feature was in Awakening.
13:44 Subaki the archer? Lol
What the hell?
In the ending of the second trailer (~1:52 for the youtube video), the names of the 2 royal families were shown in a similar manner to the yingyang symbol. Maybe it's symbolism to one family being outwardly good with evil within, and the other family looks outwardly evil but has truly good intentions?
I can't be the only person who will be playing Nohr version or what ever it's called. Yes, The Hosihido are possibly the good guys, but come on guys. Glory. GLORY!
And CAMILLA.
John Smith Face it, guys, that's the _REAL_ reason...
Supertron Or western esque designs? Maybe Knight class... please?
JJthebanana Nah, its da boobz.
:P
In all seriousness, I just want to play a more traditional FE game. I was introduced to the series through _Awakening_, but the more I hear about the series, the previous titles seem to be more appealing to me.
JJthebanana Hoshido: For Fun
Nohr: For Glory
Oh my god this game looks FANTASTIC!! Just the way that Derick was explaining the possible story elements was extremely cool and now I feel invested more than ever about this game. Curse you Gamexplain!
100% going Nohr.
It's because of Camilla, isn't it?
SpaghettiForDinner Yup.
Vera Limani
1: It is entirely possible that Jugdral is Archanea in the past, which is why the Tyrfing looks so similar to the Falchion.
Also worth noting that the final text in the trailer is "What if?". All but confirms that Fire Emblem If will be the game's Western name as well.
Nohr side has more waifus so far, so the choice is clear.
John Smith Mh, it's stuff like that, that gave the FE community a bad image.
Remember to just have one waifu. Getting more waifu will destroy your laifu.
FierceRagnarit was just a joke.
Watch Doge Sure, but a ton of new fans to the series actually mean things like that.
FierceRagnar Quiet, you.
Still a decent analysis all around and thanks for all the work put in.
sdw4527 What's with this theme of not wearing shoes for super important characters lol?
zero67
According to this other analysis I watched. The guy suggested the dancer could possibly be a "light dragon" and the avatar being the "dark dragon". In one screenshot, the avatar's eyes were red apparently.
How amusing that's a theme in a certain other fe game with a "dark prince" class...
sdw4527
link?
Raahaahaa Check out sdw4527's liked videos. Pretty sure he's talking about the one by Zukonima. It's in 2 parts.
@ 17:22 you started to mention about the health bars.
Looking at the horseman, it looks to me like a Great Knight. Maybe the different color health bar is showing that the unit has more health then the other two. Which it should be for a promoted unit.
Who will be Andre's and Derrick's waifu?
Ash-senpai.
Been waiting for this vid!!! THNX
They didn't really translate this themselves. Right, Rey?
The game Awakening had the Health Gradient, too.
If our 'customizable' character has white hair in the cut scene does this mean we will not be able to change this, just the face?!
ZkyZcrapers I'm pretty sure you can, since you could change it in awakening.
I think you can. Remember how in Awakening your avatar could have like any colour hair and it would show up during the game? I think they're gonna allow the full model to be seen in cutscenes.
ZkyZcrapers Based on that detail, I'll be assuming we won't have as much customizations as in _Awakening_.
Jamie Gingell Doubt it. Theres that one scene that has a hat that specifically only covers his head. They probably wouldn't do that if they were going for that.
this is actually such a good analysis. when i first watched the trailer i didnt even think of half of all these ideas...:P
*face palms* was I the only one who got the family's mixed up? I thought Marx and his family were the peace loving hoshido and lobster Lord and his family were the evil nohr side...
lost it at lobster lord
ZkyZcrapers I don't see Walhart here.
ZkyZcrapers You like Shadow of chaos too?! XD
Actually, there was a screenshot revealing that Kamui's base class is apparently "Dark Prince". Which I'm pretty sure was the same class as the final boss in Genealogy of the Holy War.
I hate the news that you cant grind in the nohr campaign since grinding was one of my favorite things they added in awakening and i really want to join Nohr but its basically telling me to choose (i know its not forcing me to buy the game bt still) between one or the other and technically i still don't get what i want i hope they change this
To make up for that some of the enemies thrown on the map might be weak on purpose for the sake of extra EXP.
Clocktothetick
Well we don't even know how many characters in general the Nohr side is getting, what if they change how often you have to fight together for support conversations on Nohr to make up for the lack of Map? there not gona make it nearly impossible to get to a high level and support the characters or else Hoshido would basically be superior. There might still be a map of some kind or else Nohr wont even have the Streetpass functionality while Hoshido would, theres to many things un-answered basically.
Andrew Martinez yeah maybe i'm jumping he gun i should wait for more info just worried about what i heard so far hope your right
was awakening your 1st game? theres only been 3 out of 14 titles that you can grind to death (other 2 is Gaiden and Sacred Stones). they like to mix it up time to time. this old style is what gave the game more replayability lmao. also you cant use all 30+ characters on one map, you also have to plan your resources better. though, i still grind in the games if you can find the exploits hehe (just no second seals in those games. i bet that item is going to return, if so then i guess more spam farming haha).
i guess Nintendo wanted to cater to veterans and newcomers.
Nohr is definitely the better choice, harder, less like awakening, and a more complicated story. Sounds like a real Fire Emblem game for once.
The above choice when the MC is creating a bridge I believe can be translated into Dragon (竜) Vein (脈).
Though I am having a difficult time clearly identifying the second kanji.
Marx. Hmmm....will he betray me at any point?
*makes popcorn* *grabs computer* *opens GameXplain* "Time for some hype."
I don't understand Japanese very well, but doesn't "Onii" mean Brother? Exclusively I mean. So, what if you chose the female class? Will the cutscene be different, or will both genders exist in the same world? I dunno...
It be different if you play as the female. They would say Onee Chan/Onee Sama if you're female.
***** Probably, I was thinkin' there's no way they would do that...but they have a huuuuge budget this time around, so I guess recording an extra line or two won't hurt them~
CarbonMalite Oni doesn't mean brother, I'm pretty sure Oni means Sibling. Brothers will refer to sisters as Oni also.
Donhambino That's completely and utterly wrong. First, an "oni" is a demon, you're thinking of onii; second, onii exclusively refers to an older brother, or at least someone with the role of an older brother, onee being the thing referring to an older sister. Sibling is "kyoudai".
thewizardninja
I don't care about spelling, whatever it sounds like, that's how I'll spell it. Besides I said I think so I knew I could be wrong, no need to get your panties in a bunch
also these health bars are already in awakening, it just help indicate their max health, but probably they would give you the option to switch it to "normal" hp bars.
This game is looking sexy already.
OOOOHHHHH Maybe that Mage/dark knight guy with the bits of rock flying around him could be responsible for that giant Rock Monster in the first teaser trailer, because in that trailer it appeared to be fighting Hoshido Soldiers. Makes sense to me at least.
I will only choose Nohr if your Waifu can be the purple haired girl.
I do agree that the scene with Garon is of him taking Kamui under his service.
What a waste of potential it turned out.
1. The ability used by Kamui in the game is called "Dragon's Vein"
3. The creature Kamui turns into appears to be based not on a dragon, but one a Kirin (or Qilin in Chinese), a creature best described as a mix between a dragon and a deer thus explaining the exotic design when compared to the traditional Western-style dragons of previous games.
amazing job as always
