(T10 katana in the market has many quality. Different blacksmith has different techniques to control their own quality. Please Don’t expect your T10 sword will be strongest sword in the world)

Really nice comparison vid Champ! I feel seriously that the 9260 steel like I said in your last vid would have faired better with more niku and I cannot rule out tempering as a factor. That T10 was a beast cutter though. I have an O katana out of T10 but between my rookie form and what appears to be significant niku, 2 liter bottles sometimes are a challenge. Thankfully no chipped edges yet. Keep up the good work!!

Water bottles or other light targets are not very forgiving towards swords with lots of niku imo, at least compared to many European swords or slimmer profile katanas.

@@brianbzdok6981 yes but that's not the sharpness it's the density of the steel 1045 will bend and dent easy so don't try to cut thick hard stuff
@@torobi-sano9625 thank you! Idk shit really about sword metals or even just metals. Is 1095 a good one? That would be harder and more brittle right? So more likely to snap than bend? Ig I'm really asking what kind of metal my next one should be
@@torobi-sano9625 I like to use them to. I might get cursed saying this but I use a cheap one I got at a junk store to cut brush at my cabin sometimes
@@brianbzdok6981 that is absolutely correct 1045 and 1060 are good starting swords you want to wait untill you no you can do proper cuts before getting a 1095 or t10 because a bad cut on something hard will snap your sword

Awesome video! As a japanese sword collector i personally prefer t10 for combat purposes. Spring steel doesnt have the toughness needed for katanas but it is fantastic for other types of swords. The t10 performs similarly to my tamahagane katana without the 4000 dollar price tag. If you want a functional katana i would recommend t10. 🦊

You can get S7 steel one. 3 times stronger than traditional one while retaining the toughness

I suggest most choice is tamahagane. And second 1095 Katana

I have a choice between a T10 folded katana and a 1065 folded steel both with real hamon... Which one would you recommend?
Whichever has the better heat treatment. T10 has more carbon, so naturally it will have better edge retention, but more brittle than 1065.

See people need to do this in stead of water bottles, then get out the BBQ and cook the meat up, oh my katana has a 1060 blade and I have cut up deers for my friends and my self, and it's still razor sharp.

if a T10 blade takes such damage from such a soft test then it's not worth bothering with
Most modern katana have flat grind edge profiles, suited toward tatami mats. I have used t10 blades with nhistorical niku blade geometry on hard targets and didn't get any actual edge damage. To be fair I imagine pig bone is harder then human bone and ultimately a differential hardened edge isn't designed to hit anything harder then human bone regardless of if the sword is a modern repo or an antique. Honestly an antique might have ben damaged far worse

Whats better 9260 spring steel or T10 steel for a katana being used frequently against tough targets?

A lot depends on your technique. 9260 is a forgiving steel allowing for minor misalignments but sacrifices edge retention compared to T10. L6 blades are your best option for frequent “tough targets” but they are a bit more expensive.

だいたい300ドルくらいで買えます。
私も海外在住ですが、何本もこういった海外製の刀を買ってみました。まあ、でかいナイフですね。
