I'm a CNC operator and I agree with you Chet each machine has it's own noises and quirks that you get used to the more you run them.

Yesterday (NOV 7) it was in the low 20"s and the wind was 40-50 MPH, any open water(tanks or ponds) froze hard enough to drive a pickup on. Today it was in the 20's with a LIGHT breeze (5-15 MPH). You could actually stand to go outside. Windchill was only about 0..... You gotta love the weather in Northwestern SD, the pendulum swings wildly!!! Prime the paint by painting it w/ aluminum paint, then any paint will stick. Clean tank after any grease removed by washing 2 times w/ a strong vinegar solution, washing off, air dry, then ready to primer.
You should look into a set of LSW tires for the second combine. The ride is better and less compaction.

Dougo exactly right. My crane truck legs have up and down on the rams. But by my thinking they labeled wrong. Up and down doesn't work. Extend or retract would be a better option.

The tanks are noticeable because everything else is immaculate including the floors.
Well, there is the wiring in the control room for the grain bin site. That's a hot mess. I'll allow it given how clean they keep everything else.

Yes Chet, the 'sound of a machine' is something you need to recognize, to help it stay in good shape. A good ear, prevents a lot of problems from even happening. and Dougo,,,, I've never thought twice about the paint on the fuel tanks; not one time, and then you go and mention it ! I will never UNSEE that again!

With as much as those combine grain tanks are overloaded with the Big Tops vs. the factory design I'm not so surprised you've had some issues. All the extra bushels/weight added to starting up system repeatedly. John Deere may have some issue but extensions can create some as well.
