From the 'dancing wall' and feathered chair, to his personal make-up room, we get an insider's view of his place of work. Johar also tells us about recurring motifs in all his films - a mandatory bench scene, a bridge shot and some sport element.

Anupama, how do I say this, it's like a movie I don't want to end. This series that u have started especially, this one with Karan, he's like soo excited in part 3 to show his office. It's like a kid showing his toys n being proud at the same time. I don't remember last time I was this engaged in an interview...I love it, as I would put it,"it's fab"👍👍👍
This man created some of the films that I enjoyed with my parents in cinema hall during my childhood…. Those moments were golden days that I’ll always cherish….

He might be single, hv different sexual orientation and accused of nepotism but despite this has created an empire which is helping budding artists, giving long due credit to writers and giving us a different kinda cinematic experience. Give love to the man not hate 💙
People unnecessarily troll him or the Kapoor's ,Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan. Infact he launched Sid Malhotra, Tara Sutaria, and three new faces from outside the industry in 2021 #dcsquad
People should just be involved with their work and just love them for that. And there is nothing wrong with nepotism, if I make it big in a profession then I would obviously make it easy for my son/daughter 🤷🏻♂️
And in 2020 after the tragic death of SSR, which even I am sad of the lose, but I personally feel it's wrong to blame them for his death!

As a Canadian, I appreciate the English interviews. KJ is very visible is Indian Cinema and seeing his openness in his interview is really an opportunity to see what makes this man. I always look forward to movies from his production house. Some I enjoy more than others but I have never felt that it was money wasted. He comes across as a loyal and devoted son and family man. He's unpretentious and comfortable in his skin and I can see this attitude in his movies. Loved ADHM because life is not all happily ever after nor do you need to have someone in your life to heal. Finding inner peace is what's more important. After this interview I feel that Karen has also found that inner peace. Looking forward to more cinema from Dharma with Karan in the directors chair!

Neither a single actor nor a director is well spoken like him. He speaks his heart out and his good vibes make him most favourite among everyone. Why Indian mentality is if someone is single still in 40's is sad. As he said in many interviews we just can't buy Love and to some people it just don't happen. They are destined to be single. Some forces are not in your hand. And if he got sexual orientation then he must have suffocated all over his life. He got beautiful heart and that matters.

One thing in this interview of KJo which really struk me is "more the glamour more the lonely & sad a person is". It is heartening for him as well as the fans for what life & cinemas has taught him. No doubt he is the best "over the top film maker" but one thing you are sure of is the nice "handkerchief wala cry" you get at the end of his movies. Anu as always thanks for a wonderful interview with a wonderful man & the questions you come up with are really really good. It was wonderful to see how well is your bond with KJo & his family. This interview really did teach me a lesson that even though all love famous personalities, it is the true & real love what stands important then be it your family or friends who are like family to you. This interview really gave us an idea that how straight forward, kind & honest person he is which really reflects in his movies (especially the sentence "i have self respect no ego". Summing this up it was a great experience of KJo's Dharma prodn 2.0, his lovely walls & the real truth of the man himself KJo!!!!
That's exactly what I started noticing. Especially when Deepika admitted to her battle with depression awhile back. We can control the things we say, the way we act, but never the way we feel.

Yes, he is very nice. And, I think we all are grey. You can't spectrum everyone completely as black and white. We lie in grey zone. Not to mention, recently I was watching many interviews of Karan Johar, I have to say he is super honest with everything. Anyway, he get a lot of hate. People do get hate online, but the kind of hate he gets is disgusting. People call him by names, cuss words, and whatnot. So people who think they are very pure and this and that please introspect your words and actions first. Anyone who trolls people online by no solid reason just because of the hype of things, then you are worst than karan Johar. You have no rights to make him a villan. People question his sexuality and call him by worst adjectives. Sometimes I feel so bad for him. I do not understand what his faults are. He born with a silver spoon that's why, but can anyone choose his parents. No na then! Ofcourse, he should give more opportunities to outsiders and stuff, but we don't have any right to cyber bulling anyone. It's unethical and show how bad you are🙃

I loved the interview because it was so candid. Also, I always find it very emotional when Karan Johar speaks about his late father. It's so great to realise that all of us are ultimately human and undergo the same emotions. Wish him the best, always!
I'm a queer South Asian girl, and this is probably not gonna reach Karan, but I just wanted to say that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is my favorite film. I could really relate to Ayan's character and his unrequited love for Alizeh, because I loved my best friend (she is a straight girl) like that. The dynamic between the two characters were so similar that I felt like someone spied on my life. So, I just wanted to thank Karan for making this film. That movie will forever be in my heart.

Karan Johar is someone you know but you don't really know but, this interview changes that thing. It was great to know Karan as a person & about his life.
And who would've thought that little little things in the film you see reflect someone's life like the benches, clothes, etc.

Karan is such a sweetheart. I don't know why people don't like him. He's so down to earth. I want to meet him someday and hug him and say "u r doing a great job" and i cried my heart out after watching 'ae dil hai mushkil' That movie was so touching. I watched it twice. And for the channel, u guys are doing a great job. I love watching these interviews. Also i love Priyanka for what she has achieved in her life. She started as a teenager from the same city as me (bareilly).

I just loved seeing karan so candid...i actually see him now as a real person. With insecurities , with whims n fancies , with unconditional love. I always considered him shallow, seeing him on koffee with karan and just gossiping n what not....but this interview with u anupama was a real eye opener. In the first two parts I identified with him as a person with great intellect and literary vocabulary (it shocked me) n then in the third part his acute sense as businessman was totally in the face...I think I now may start liking him! Anyways I've always believed that actors are split personalities who look 'good', now I can also say directors are of the same league 'who r not good looking'!.....Great job anupama, one request though 'Do an interview with vidhu vinod chopra as a journalist/wife!'

beneath the surface needless to say is all about what lies beyond the icing and this interview really stands as a testimony to the title! Love every part (1,2,3) and appreciate just how eloquently Karan unfolds. This really proves how much more substance there is of Karan than just the entertainment business.
