Very pretty wood! As I’m watching this and listening to everything you say you should remember. I’m thinking I would have to make myself a check list to make sure I didn’t forget to do something 😂😂
Thanks, I was aiming for great but good is acceptable. My returning viewers count is well over a thousand but subscribed is less than two hundred. Something came through about 15 years ago and killed out about half of them around here. I try not to take them out unless necessary. This little one was where the mill shed is so it had to go.
When I was a kid Dutch Elm Disease hit the US and wiped out millions of Elm trees. We didn't learn then and we're not learning now about invasive species (of all kinds)
You got some nice boards out of that log! I've only that the opportunity once to mill elm once but unfortunately it wasn't my log so the wood went away.
Pardon a stupid question, but why is it you seem to suffer more staining / brown "incursion" (or what it's called in English)?. Rust?, Bark? Rapid oxidation of wet wood? compared to many other 1man sawmillers?. Just curious
On the elm video, I think what you are seeing is this log has been down from some months. It’s some dryer inside than if fresh cut. The water delivery system I have floods the blade intermittently. This gets all of the sawdust remaining in the cut soaking wet which makes it dark in color compared to the surrounding wood. As soon as the surface moisture dries it all looks the same. I hope this helps.
The mill was a high hour 1988 manual Until recently. I stripped it to the bare frame and everything that went back is new. Some of it is from wood mizer and some is not. The set works is similar to the acuset two. Thanks for watching. I hope you subscribed.

Not sure that would work
Pretty woo
❤️
Turned out really nice
Thanks, I like elm. I just don’t come across much of it to saw.
@@hillsidemill same where we are. We have them but haven’t put one on the mill yet.
Good video Lawrence. I milled a couple of Elms a year or two ago and found the grain to be very beautiful. Seems like nobody likes Elm.

I've heard that it's hard to get elm to dry straight. Maybe the reason for little useage, along with its' scarcity.

I have milled it before. You sure have to stay out of the pith it warps really bad when dry. Maybe you will come across some more.
I have a couple of elm logs to mill one of these day after the snow goes in the spring
I like it. I’m glad we don’t have snow that lasts. Are you in UP.?

Is your mill new? I didnt know they made a LT30 hydraulic.
No until this year it was a manual mill built in June of 1988. I have a video up about it.
@@hillsidemill i noticed several not standard add ons, like the simple works was a different color and the laser. I love my LT35. Have fun.

You did a fine job on your Mill restoration.
Is that a woodmizer laser you have on your mill
No it’s Amazon. I think about 35 for the laser and 5 for the 5 volt transformer. Home made bracket.
Зачем делать панель управления с той стороны, куда летят опилки? Производитель не продумал этот момент, работать приятнее чистым.
I agree with the sawdust issue, however the off bearing lumber is closer to that side. So for a one person operation I think it’s the best option.
