This is the first time I have ever payed attention to a new cod release, and I am loving it so far!
You can’t say COD doesn’t have variety nowadays.
COD WW2 had the most weapons and maps in a COD ever. Then came MW2023 which surpassed it. There’s a bunch of playing styles you can have with the gunsmith feature as well. That was not in older cod games.
The PERFECT COD game would be the ballsiness of MW2 (particularly with akimbo and launchers), class system of BO2, weapons variety and games modes of MW2023, and original COD ranking system.

40:49 In the discussion about game engines, from my understanding all CODs are built off a Quake engine from like the late 90’s. As IW and Treyarch became their own distinct studios, the built the engines differently to serve their needs which is why og MW games felt different from BO games. Then Sledge came in as basically little brother to IW and built their engine from the one that Infinity Ward was using at the time which is why their games feel a little more similar.
IW did a massive overhaul of their engine in preparation for MW19, like building it from the ground up but Treyarch never did that, which is partially why there have been security concerns with old BO games.

I don't think we have to worry too much about Treyarch's Art Direction.
An engine doesn't dictate how a game looks, or plays.
Here's just a few examples:
1. The RE Engine Capcom made for Resident Evil 7 has been the engine they use for pretty much all of their games since.
These games include: Resident Evil 7, 8, 2 Remake, 3 Remake, 4 Remake, Exoprimal, Street Fighter 6, Monster Hunter Rise, Devil May Cry 5, etc.
2. Unreal Engine is extremely diverse(lets just lump stuff like Unity in there as well).
There's also the fact that you can make nearly identical games using different Engines.
Original Minecraft(Java) is using a different Engine than the Original Console Edition, which also used a different Engine from the Mobile Version(which is now the universal version of the game on Consoles, Mobile, and Windows).
All of these Version of Minecraft are the same game.
They each have different quirks, and a few minor differences, but they are still Minecraft.
So this is all to say that Treyarch are capable of making a game with their iconic art style, and gameplay using IW's Engine.
They could even recreate a game like WaW from the Ground Up, and make it nearly identical to the original.
It's just up to Treyarch/Activision/Microsoft(whoever will call the shots on how the game needs to look and feel)to make it feel like a Treyarch game.
Yeah they all run on the same engine but each developer would add codes and make it their build. Lately all dev teams are using IW9 engine build. Thats why they all feel so similar and easier for crossplay

As someone who hasn't played bo2 zombies and bo4, I feel like I'm missing out on great maps so I feel like a zombie chronicle two would be crazy cool.

I was hoping that BO2.5 would be done by High Moon Studios under direction of Treyarch. HMS is one of the larger supporting studios that i feel hasn’t had a chance to make a name for itself like Raven has. And i think they have the potential because they made these two transformers games in 2010/12 that are actually pretty good. they’re like gears of war but transformers. they’ve shown themselves capable of making a premium shooter game and i think should be given an opportunity to make a bigger contribution

If they ever remastered this game, they cannot do what they did with modern warfare remastered. I know that black ops two already had micro transactions inside of it, but those were probably the best versions of that that we ever got. You cannot put supply drops in here, a battle pass or any skins and bundles that overpriced. You just gotta do what a remaster is supposed to do. You build upon what was there already and you also make it look nicer with updated graphics. I also wouldn’t mind them seeing them add in new challenges, maps and stuff like that.
I want a bo2 remaster I’m just afraid it’s going to be full of bundles and eventually won’t be bo2 remaster more like reimagined
And to be fair about our current MW3, its a very good game when compared to what we got last year and standing by itself it still gets my approval. Could it be better? Of course, could it be absolutely worse? Thats an even bigger YES. Ive had a blast since November, i can’t recall one good time i had on our previous game.
What do you guys think of a zombies game only. Having every zombie map in call of duty in one game with better graphics. Or maybe only have treyarch zombie maps. The only problem with that is people will be annoyed that it’s a separate purchase they’ll have to make. Or they could probably add every map in a future call of duty. I just want zombies to be fun again
There is something that confuse me a little bit. Knowing that cold war is a direct sequel to BO1 and that "BO6" is taking place in the 90s. How are they gonna bring back mason and woods when in BO2, mason supposedly died in 1989 and woods had his legs blown off by Menéndez?
I really dislike the Gunsmith system. I don’t get too much time to play COD as is, but especially when I want to play zombies and MP, I split that time even more. I don’t have time to grind 70 levels on one gun for all the attachments.
I really hated the MW2 system where you had to use guns to unlock other guns. Side note: I remember on the AK in MW2 2022 unlocking two different grips that literally had the exact same pros and cons, just their appearance was slightly different. Like what’s the point, I can’t see the grip in game. What a literal waste of an attachment slot.

I personally think that BO 2 just fell short of BO 1 in terms of missions (and campaign overall) but still can’t wait for the remastered version.
The future where COD’s direction is going to making me happy and hopefully you’ll as well.

That’s honestly what i feel IW is gonna do in 2026 but with the way they made MWII, ghosts 2 could be even campier than the first one. I think a sequel has potential but not if it’s made by IW

Yeah, but it would leave a bad taste in people's mouths and having people who have passed away speaking scripted words would be uncomfortable to say the least.
For me, for muiltplayer: just make it classic like back then like don't add gay skins and make it fell like cod, and for zombies just do what bo3 did add some classic maps back and add like 3 or 2 new ones like chop said bo3 zombies chronicles was at the top of the most bought packs

I’d prefer if treyarch took their time, made black ops 6, let infinity ward do their thing, sledgehammer can make an advanced warfare 2, and then we get the black ops 3 2 or whatever. I definitely do not want a rushed game or even worse both the games black ops 6 and black ops 3 2 are just rushed.

34:53 in regards to MP theres no variety. in terms of warzone we FINALLY got an HRM nerf and so all the beautiful aftermarket parts are viable. i remember you guys crediting SHG for refreshing the game/meta with AMPs. Ive been running an RPG, a 1 shot sword, a shotgun turned AR. i never had loadout variety in WZ1/2. experimenting with new guns that arent destroyed by an HRM has refreshed the game _SO_ much
ive got to say, its REALLY hard to enjoy warzone when your teammates aren't locked in. the game needs a level of dedication that most games Just dont require

The foundation of this years Cod needs to be good, as the "Bo2 sequel" would be built off of it, like MW III to MW II. It needs to be a proper full on Treyarch game, the other devs can help as long as they stick to 3arc assets, otherwise if it's the same MW engine garbage, it's jover. I don't think we will ever get a proper remaster again, but if they ever did drop one, I just can't trust Activision to do it properly in the modern gaming age, I refuse to let a Bo2 remaster get destroyed by bundles, battle passes and shit.

@@GoingDarkPodcast The actual game was well done, near perfect remaster, I just didn't like the guns in supply drops that were OP and better than the base guns. I liked some of the cosmetic stuff like the gun kits, but adding guns took away from the "Cod4" aspect of it, though some stuff wasn't too bad tbh.

@@GoingDarkPodcast when I first played it I had no idea what I was supposed to do and then I met people in game and they showed me how to play… I love DMZ now it’s the best thing to come to call of duty since MW2 in 2009, but that’s my opinion. If they made DMZ a stand alone title id def be buying it but if it’s taken away and discontinued I think I’d just go and play one of the other extraction shooter games.
I gotta say tho, the Mw2 2022 Campaign was pretty good compared to Mw3 lol

Cod is such a simple game to make, they over complicate the formula with needless innovation. Infinity Ward needs to back off from development before they ruin another game and treyarch needs to return to form by copying what worked and understand/ relearn what made that work before thinking they know how to evolve the mode in a meaningful way, Idk how you mess something up as simple as Call of Duty.
