    They have summer concerts in the Pavilion where you were looking at the little park with the family sculptures. Webb Custom Kitchen is where the old Webb Theater used to be. You should look that up very popular. The Esquire Hotel is a newly renovated hotel with a restaurant. They are truly trying to revitalize the area and bring in more business.

      Thank you for the local information. I’ll have to come back for one of the concerts.

    If you had gone down South Street you would have seen the old Court House and Webb Restaurant which is in an old Theatre and is listed at a top 25 in the US, Romantic Restaurants.

    This is a fun tour. It amazes me how you can take us for a tour in a town that size and not encounter another soul walking on the sidewalks. How do you do that? Gastonia looks like a neat town.

      I usually hit the town centers early in the morning to avoid people. Today was Friday, but I can also miss people by going on a Monday or Tuesday when restaurants take their days off.
      I also look ahead while filming to see if anyone is coming. To avoid them, I point at a building until they pass.
      The rain also kept people inside today.
      And finally, most people hop from their car into a building and back unless it's a tourist town like West Jefferson. A shame, really. People used to walk around and socialize a lot more than they do today.
      However, the trend seems to be changing. So hopefully, in the not too distant future, our town centers will thrive again in the daytime and at night when most of them fill with people visiting the bars and restaurants.

      @@TimothyFrench I hope you're right. I notice you have a definite number of towns left to see on your adventure. When you have toured every single one of them.....what then? Will that be the end of you on TH-cam or will you have another quest in mind?

    • @TimothyFrench
      @TimothyFrench  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@terrybane6206 No, I have some other adventures in mind. And while I will not be visiting every town center in every state, I will be stopping in a lot of them as my wife and I travel across this great country of ours.

    The big tall red brick building on the right going down the street, was a Bank. & Coming up the street on the other side of the street has & is till a Hotel.

    That carriage company building next to the county office building is now loft's type apartments.The old court house mysteriously burned down and was rebuilt as the city office building for zoning permits etc.

      I use my iPhone 11 with a handheld phone mount. On top I have Rode VideoMicro. The phones stabilization works best if you use the wide angle view while filming.
