Quick Clarifying Comment - All of these courses assume you have some math background (mainly linear algebra and basic statistics) as well as a basic proficiency in programming before you take them. If you don’t have that background yet, Coursera offers linear algebra and statistics courses for free, and I used Code Academy to learn Python. EDIT: Kaggle also has an intro Python course! www.kaggle.com/learn/overview
Thanks for the shout out, we're glad you find us a great resource! :D Also, FYI: there's an intro Python course on Kaggle: www.kaggle.com/learn/overview
Good news! I'm just done with Andrew Ng's course, and I finished it using OCTAVE installed on my computer, including submitting the drills, with no adjsutment needed. Loved this course!!
Hi, when I try to access the lab, it asks me for subscription. Can you tell me the steps you did to open the courses as well the lab questions? Thank you.
@@friends53392, It's the easiest on Artificial Intelligence. It doesn't cover the calculus and other math behind it. It is intended for an audience of interested high schoolers and college freshmen. The problem sets may seem hard but when you read the descriptions thoroughly, visualize and think of them clearly they, at last, come out to be pretty obvious.
Heads up on the GPU, Tensorflow Keras past version 2.0 uses vector assembly commands that don't exist on older cpu's and only gpu thread on intel GPUs, because for some reason AMD doesn't invest as much into machine learning processing. It's possible that some other machine learning libraries might have this problem to if you get an error building their libraries that you can't solve through search realize that this could be a possibility.
Super helpful vid! I enjoy these resources. I’ve found that I prefer Intro to Statistical Learning over Andrew Ng’s course as a first introduction to ML. Not many people know that there are companion videos from the authors of ISL that you can find online at Stanford Lagunitas. These videos paired with the book (which is taught in R and not mat lab which isn’t really used in ml anymore) have been far more helpful for me personally than the Coursera ml course. Great vid agin and thanks for sharing! Just FYI, I think it’s pronounced Andrew “A-ing” (not “Neg”). Edited a word
I think machine learning is just as big of an advancement as personal computers were decades ago, and we are only scratching the surface of what is possible. I'm very interested in learning this stuff.
Thank you for the video! I have been exploring AI/ML and was already enrolled Andrew Ng class and using Kaggle but had doubts if I was on the right path. Your video removed those doubts. Thanks
It would be nice if there were a book version if this. Kinda like the 69ish books to read to have an equivalent knowlege base as an mba that was floating around the net a few uears back.
Khan academy is also a very good and free resource to learn math. I am doing it these days and it is super helpful if you can relate the math with real world examples.
I´m not really planning to learn A.I, yet I instantly clicked on this video. Explaining why might be inappropriate. Seriously though, thanks for your efforts, this is a great initiative!
Thanks Jordan for the beautiful video. It will surely help in learning ML & AI. I am already a working professional with 5+ years of experience in web development. Is it a good descion for me to start learning ML & AI & switch my career path? What is the duration or time required to learn & gain enough expertise in ML & AI to make a career switch? Thanks, Deepak.
Thank you for this video and the resources, great way to start. Would you consider doing a video on data annotation for AI I.e. the data supply for AI and ML. Would be great to understand how companies do this.
Kaggle competitions optimize for a specific performance metric which often results in an undesirable solution to the problem. For example achieving the highest accuracy on an image recognition task at the expense of a model that is too computationally expensive. I competed in a Kaggle competition doing something similar to facial recognition, and the highest performing solution just trained a classifier for each of the 500 "people" instead of doing any type of representation learning approach like my team did.
I agree with your observation, but I actually think that’s a good thing for people who are new to machine learning and may not otherwise have the background to understand how to choose a good performance metric. As you become a better developer, you can then have insights like this where you realize that the metric you’re optimizing for based on the Kaggle restrictions may not be the best optimizers, and start thinking about how to develop your own or use more advanced methods.

(Clarification: I’m in a bit of a unique position where I can take one a-la-carte class per semester for free. Any undergrad or grad level course is fine. I have an undergrad engineering degree, and I’m taking Intro to ML at MIT this semester)
I tried to do andrew ng's course but i hit a wall with some of the equations as i haven't done university maths. Had you taken university maths classes before you did the course?
Yep, I'd taken math courses in college before I took the class. It definitely assumes you've taken some basic stats and linear algebra before starting - I'll add a pinned comment to make that clear. Coursera also offers free classes in linear algebra and stats that you might want to check out before taking Ng's class.

Hi. Does Fast.ai will give any certificate of Completions ? or any grades or Credits after completions of Course? Can you please suggest me some courses which will give credits and course completions certificate Free of cost apart from coursera? It will be great help, I am a student but passionate about AI and follow your channel.
fast.ai doesn’t give certificates of completion, and I’m not currently aware of any free courses that do outside of Coursera. Udacity has a paid one, but it’s pretty expensive. Hopefully someone else might have found a free one that goes!
I don't think the fancy school is a prerequisite, but I assume being intelligent is. I have no formal education, but I'm going to give AI programming a shot anyway. It doesn't hurt to try.
