    I think many people who watch and listen to this orchestra are going to hit the "subscribe" button. The playing is precise and spirited. And the direction and camera work are outstanding. The shot-changes make sense, and are paced according to the music. And some are startlingly good, e.g. at 3:43ff.

    Just the right amount of grandeur for the introduction propels this vital symphony through to a dramatic, fiery conclusion, with felicitous phrasing also bringing out all the charm contained in the score. Maestro Orozco-Estrada's Schubert is winning and rewarding, and his orchestra is excellent as always.

      Well said. Schubert's youthful works have in the past been disregarded, but they now they need to be in your succint words fiery, feliticious if not a even a little grandiose. This was post Napoleanic society! Great interpretations must be like this and true to the spirit of young Franz☺️

    the wooden and the brasses in this orchestra are great. Frankfurt Radio are in the past a well tuned orchestra (Gielen, Dohnanyi...), but in the last years they developed to the 4 or 5 best orchastras in Germany. With the orchestra in Berlin, Bavaria, Dresden and Leipzig the competition is high.

    Alas, the performance is so superficial, represents how great music suffers from meeting a business-like, easy-way-out attitude. All great moments go unnoticed, the accentuation in the Frist Movement Allegro Vivace main theme is pitiful and negligible, instead of being use as a springboard of a generous and dramatic phrase-structure....where from come the easy, undeserved smiles?

    • @georgewerther

      @csaponxypan1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@georgewerther Please read carefully the specifics what I mention in my comment and try to listen and understand it, rather than comment superficially, and you'll appreciate that Schubert carries far greater weight than what is manifested by this particular recording. The absence of the carefully notated accents diminishes the passion and the verve of the work, takes away from its intensity. For me, the Second Symphony is much much more a pre-cursor to the later, tragic works (like the Fourth, the Sixth, the Seventh) than just a happy little feast. There should be much more significance here, and much less entertainment. To me, this has to do with selling, rather than serving this music in a way that it would deserve. Try to use your imagination, how else it could be done!
