Nice to see Dylan working😎 Of course a good preparation brings best results and less damage on paint coating and even on polishing pads! Its always good to remember🌟 I❤Rupes!
I used the same way to prepare all car surfaces before polishing but without the last step (alcohol) because I think is not necessary if you'll polish. Another point is that using some specific iron remover like SIDERO on wheels or body car, you are able to remove 80-90% of contamination. The other 10-20% you'll romove with claybar. I did many test ;-). Now is time for my question: sometimes the front glass is damage (scratches) from cleaning brushes: is there a way to polish it? Do you have some suggestions about this?
Good information. Thank you. We recommend the alcohol or solvent wipe because even though polishing would remove these residues, often times that residue can prematurely clog the pad and reduce performance.
What's the best course of action if there are small rust spots from stone chips that have cut through to bare metal or primer? I have a manufacturers paint stick to fill them in, after clay/decon prep and before polishing and applying a sealant but not sure what the best route is to remove the rust. Thanks, love all these videos!
Not really our area of expertise. We are the authority on anything to do with the maintenance, correction, and restoration of painted surfaces. Once the paint is gone (as in down to bare metal and rusting) we would defer to others who specialize in that sort of thing. Once the spot it touched up, certainly its as simple as leveling and then buffing out.
Hi Dylan, this one is for you as marketing guy... Assuming both Big Foot Duetto and Mini are the same machine (I really think more than assumption it is a fact). Could you please consider to develop and provide the option of "conversion kits" for Rupes users to convert a Duetto into a Mini and viceversa? This seems to be pretty easy at first sight when you can id the physical differences between these models and it could be a very cool idea! I see a very promi$$ing business opportunity there. Please remember me when money comes 😂 !!!
Unless you need to inspect progress between steps there is very little need to use a surface prep wipe in between compounding and polishing steps. Assuming the product choice is not heavy in fillers what little masking would occur from the polishing oils would have a negligible impact. Prep solvents are helpful in initial (pre-compounding) work to prevent waxes or other contamination from clogging the pads. And they're helpful after correction work is done to see the "true" final result and prepare the surface for protection (as directed by the manufacturer). There won't be much need/value in doing it between each step.
Hi, thank you for all these nice videos. Can you do a video about what to do after polishing to prep the paint for a wax or sealant? I now use Isopropanol to remove polishing residues but perhaps there is a better way? A video about your P808 sealant would be nice too. 😎
Thank you for watching! We can certainly put it on the suggestions list. P808 is simple. Apply it. No need for additional steps after correction. Outside of that each manufacturer of a wax, sealant, or coating is going to have a recommendation and we would recommend you consult the manufacturer of your preferred product for their recommendations for pre-application prep. It would not be feasible to make a recommendation that applies to all protective products, nor would it be responsible for us to make recommendations on behalf of other brands.
Hello from Puerto Rico! I am new in the business. I am doing the exact process. I bought a Mille and a Mini. I am planning in a 15" orbital too for hards. More videos please!
Thanks for watching. There are many cases where a light machine sanding step followed by a moderate polishing step will be preferred because it is less invasive to the finish than heavy compounding steps. Sanding is also a much more controlled rate of material removal so when preservation of clear coat integrity is a concern it might be the best choice. The one constant is all of this is that there is no constants... there is always exceptions and situations where one method may make more or less sense.
Great 👍 thanks for your efforts, if possible please do indefth video on Black series product or include it in future videos so people will know about amazing product like P808, M101 or M707
Color temperature is not so important for washing, you just want to create an environment where the vehicle is lit from every angle without shadow so you can see dirt/contamination. When it comes to paint correction, that is where you want to have adjustable color temps as well as intensity to tune the lighting to the color of the paint for best visibility.
Nice to see Dylan working😎

We like to make Dylan do work every now and then. He can't always be talking on camera! Thanks for watching.

As a quick aside - shout out to Nick’s ‘stache.
It is a thing of beauty. Thanks for watching.

Question, how about surface prep in between steps? Say starting off with a rubbing compound to a mid compound?

Great. Thanks for watching! We've got a lot more video content coming soon.
I think you mean 15mm not 15 inches 😂
thanks for these great videos! Hey jason some pros say it is best to learn sanding and then use a DA than using a rotary.. what do you say?

@@RUPES like bruce lee said... “be water my friend”. 👍🏽
Nice tips thanks
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.

What type of lighting is good for proper Washing ? 5000k or 65000k

Mother of God!
We'll be starting a poll to decide if he looks more like Frava, Ramathorn, or Mac
Shoutout the Logic bit sample at the end, “Perfect!” 😂🙌🏼
Glad some people caught that ;)
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Logic bit sample? Are you serious?! That's a Street Fighter sound effect... and Logic sampled that
I went a shine mate ex620 DA 5/15 due to Rupes being out of my price range and just starting out. Oneday....Oneday
