That very sub was my first brand new sub growing up, bought it at wallmart, for some reason it sounded ok in a decent box, it could play 200 watts rms @ 4 ohm
i love how he just rips the wires out of the back and lets them cross all the while the music is still playin..

It impressed me. It took one hell of a beating I figured it was gone go faster than that! Lightning Audio isn't bad stuff no worse than Sony and I have 2 12" Sony Xplods been beating the crap outta then with a 200 watt Logic Sound Lab amp for over 8 years now and they still Slammin.

Lightning Audio is actually a lower end entry level company owned by Rockford Fosgate. I had an old Lightning Audio woofer inside of a VERY bad box with TONS of port noise. got it from a friend. Blew the bastard up and have since moved on to a JL WXv2 12 inch in a custom box witch sounds a shit ton better then the Lightning Audio did.

Are you sure you didn't just turn the gain up to high on the amp and got a distorted signal to blow it up? Distortion will kill any sub no matter the power.
Lightning Audio is a good brand...... it's basically Rockford Fosgate rebadged and sold at a cheaper price. Their amps are good if you can get ahold of em'.

Lightning audio were LOW END Rockford's. Call Rockford if you don't believe me. They sold them under the lightning audio brand to Walmart for a period of time. Amps as well. I said LOW end not actual Rockford. They actually aren't that bad for a beginner sub. Discontinued as far as I am aware.

Type-R isn't better? Get your "facts" straight. Everything in Type-R is on a different level. No, I don't own a Type-R at the moment, I did though and changed to a woofer that costs twice as much. My next woofers will be Type-R again...

Excellent video *cough. First lets have 2 enclosures, one 10 years older than the other. Then drywall screws attaching a woofer upside down. Then force poorly recorded and produced shit through it. The LA woofer would be entry level quality at best and likely a third the price on the wayyy better Alpine. The mass-produced vented box could be a major factor in the demise of that sub, too. LOUD bass with lots of distortion.

who doesn't love the smell of a burnt subwoofer in the morning. I had 2 12 inch boss phantoms 2300 watts max in my trunk at 1ohm on 3400 watt amp man did they pound before I cooked the he'll out of them

what's the best way to unplug a blown sub???
The best way is to go back a step and unplug it as soon as you smell that VC. Otherwise it is best to turn the amp off and unplug it in a fashion that the wires and not going to touch together. At the very least he should of disconnected one wire at a time after he turned it down all the way but off is the best way. His amp has short circuit protection but it's not something that you wanna be testing because it aint a sure fire save the day every time

Hless421 Music is Dynamic, the source signal is ocnstantly changing. An amplifier may say 1200rms at whatever ohm load you have it wired for, but realisticly your subs are seeing maybe 600-800rms most of the time. Only time you actually get that power is on stable 14.4v and a sine wave test tone. It is common practice to put larger amps on subwoofers so that there is some head room to work with. So putting a 1500rms amp on a 1000rms sub is normal and common practice.

You know how an amp works right? Its takes your source signal (HU, typically 2-4v output) and amplifies it. Because music is simply a complex signal, with varying levels of output, the power that the amplifier makes is also constantly changing. Its simple stuff guys, with proper tuning you can put a 3000rms at 1-ohm amp onto a pair of 500rms subs and be fine, even crappy subs like dual or pyle. Just goes to show how little you know about car audio

I would have to say no whoever you know who has type rs doesnt have them hooked up or powered properly i had 2 15 type rs blow my front windshield out of my car owned and have seen plenty of lightning audio subs def not bad but nothing to brag about dont waste your money on the bet and just go buy some type rs
If it's a good custom box it'll smoke the type rs all day. You can put any piece of shit sub in a good custom box built to specs and it'll slam 100 times harder than a shitty prefab box

dude watch out how you pull the cables out, or the sub is not the only thing you will blow lol XD
Blowing a sub like that can just as bad if not worse. When he pulled those leads it might of shorted together but the amp will usually detect a short go into protect mode. Playing that sub until the VC gives often will cause a short but it can happen slower so you got a 4Ohm coil and as that coil starts to give it could be slowly working towards a 0Ohm (short) and amp my not go into protect in time. I've had a Sub go bad and blow fuse on amp
