I so agree with makeup really adding finesse to my look. I am 66 and never leave the house without makeup, earrings and some nice top on. I get tired of hearing older women say they dont care what they look like. Talk about giving up on life!❤ New subbie here. Love your channel!

Agree. I’m 67. Have a pretty quick routine for a run to the grocery store but still want to feel pulled together. Bags & shoes are my spice.

Im guilty of carrying around the frumpy bag. Usually just out of laziness of switching them out. 😂

Nada your content is fabulous! You are especially good at showing us what NOT to wear, and what to wear instead. I totally
Agree with you about prints - very tricky, and they can really make our clothes, and ourselves, look outdated. I could get away with some bad choices in prints when I was younger but at almost 60 it’s just too frumpy and aging to wear a bad print 😮 love your attitude and your reminders that God knows what He’s doing - we are all wonderfully made by the Master Artist ❤️

Makeup applied inexpertly draws the eye too, damaging your style if not killing it. What works for videos or photos can look over theatrical or dirty/cakey in real life.

    Great points.
Buying now: better bags in simple design.
    Solids instead of prints.
    Better simple shoe styles.
    Better walking outfit.
    Thanks!!!😊

Thank you wonderful Nada, your content is always so good and on-point. I'm 58 years young and I was enjoying wearing no make-up on my face after years of horrible acne. However as I aged my face began to look grey and tired (also a big jowly unfortunately, but no wrinkles yet). A friend gave me some Kiehl tinted moisturiser with SPF which is like a very light "foundation". It unifies my skin tone, gives it a light glow while looking natural, it matches my skin perfectly and the SPF is an added bonus as I never used to wear SPF and really I need to protect my skin from dark spots now my acne's gone. I look so much better with this cream and I also do simple smokey eyes (no mascara as I'm allergic) to make my eyes look big while wearing my prescription lenses. I look so much better and it only takes a couple of minutes to apply this tinted cream and eye shadow. I am so grateful I found your channel, I think you're fantastic Nada and I hope your channel will go viral as you deserve it!
PS I've noticed I've aged a lot in the past year alone, which came as a bit of a shock, lots of things are happening at the same time, also healthwise (despite a very healthy diet and slim weight), but I guess I can't complain at 58 as they could have happened sooner. I once heard an expert talk on the radio about ageing, she said that there is one year in our life when we age and really notice multiple signs all happening together, it could be wrinkles suddenly becoming very noticeable, dark spots from not wearing sunscreen (guilty!), old-looking hands after a lifetime of not wearing gloves (guilty!), swollen lymph nodes in the neck, the jaws or corners of the lips drooping, which makes us look sad even though we're not (so I've started smiling more). Have you/your viewers found that too? I'm glad I took some selfies in the past couple of years, which I never used to do, I look so much younger just one or 2 years ago. It's a bit depressing, but we older women are cool and it's important to see beauty in an older face, and of course we can be stylish and current at any age.

I have a very limited number of prints (2 dresses, a few blouses). I choose smaller prints, gingham, florals or geometrical, and in a limited colour palette, so no to multiple bright colours. I prefer a smaller palette, e.g. red, white and blue, or browns with a little orange or yellow. This year large black and white florals are on trend but I find the black and white contrast too harsh at my age, I prefer navy and white or brown and white and large florals would make me look like a wallpaper. I am petite so I choose my prints very carefully. I like a side stripe or subtle stripes too. Usually I stick to solid colours but I have a selection of great neck-ties/scarves/skinny scarves that I've bought over the years and they can really elevate an outfit while adding a splash of colour and a youthful look. They don't have to be expensive either - I have 99pence cotton bandanas in all colours that I wear in all sorts of ways (around my neck, on my head, around my bag handle, etc.)
With regard to bags, I love suede, it's delicate, but oh, so elegant. I've a little LV baguette bag that was gifted to me, I really dislike logos now and I'm glad I didn't buy a larger bag, also the hardware has faded in contact with my bag charm and yes, it is a real Louis Vuitton. I buy key rings in all sizes from amazon and hang charms on them, some inexpensive, some silver, to make great handbag charms around the handles of even the plainest fabric/denim totes, they look so much more special and elevated, I get lots of compliments.

All great tips, and so so true for clothes that fit well! Tailoring clothes - Yes!! Love your content, Nada! You're my go-to for looking polished & stylish. I live in a small conservative rural town where casual is king, and many styles/trends never make a debut. Im pushing the boundry with slightly wide leg pants- lol! What is cute and appropriate to wear in my town and church differs from the larger metropolitan areas. I do try to dress differently when i know im going into the city. I know it's always appropriate to look polished, well fitted, and thoughtful. Your chanel content is so appreciated! ❤😃

I love your advice about having a modern silhouette and I’ve noticed that loads of people did not get the memo! I have this youtube addiction and I am so up to date on fashion (I think) but a lot of times when I’m out and about I see so many women still wearing the types of clothes that I got rid of ages ago - the skinny jeans and jeggings, the tunic tops, the cold shoulder tops - I am so surprised!

I appreciate your comment on minimal make up. I’m an 80s chick, born in 1969. I remember my grandmother picking up great grandma Edna (born in 1898) for a visit. First thing Grandma did was put lipstick on Great Grandmother Edna and a bit on her cheeks too. (It was Great Grandma who gave my first make up for Christmas) I also remember watching Grandmother Lois, ( who had Vitiligo) apply Max Factor pancake make up with a sea sponge. Today , I am very minimal- tinted sunscreen as my foundation, blush and lipstick. I’m good to go. Thank you for your insight.

Full Logo expensive bags are not classy. Very, very wealthy classy people do not buy these LOGO bags. These bags are just designed to make marketing and in the end make regular people buy them which they pay too much for the quality.

Thanks for calling out Coach and Michael Kors for being NOT luxury. I don’t do true designer logos or luxury bags myself. But in my learnings, I recognize too that we’ve all gotta stop wearing those brands like Michael Kors and feeling elevated because of those logos.

I am still slim, but petite. Very difficult to find my size. Preferably OOO Petite. I have resorted to OO petite out of desperation. Vanity sizing has prevented me from shopping in even higher end store which cater to the masses. In the 1960s and 1970s I could find nice things. J. Crew occasionally has my size and I buy everything they have. Shoes are difficult because, my feet are size 4B. I am buying shoes from the UK and very vintage shoes, from when my size was available. I really want to buy some vests as I love the look. Can anyone think of a brand or site online which has small sizes? Still in good shape at 74, aging gracefully.

This was really helpful and refreshing. I would love some advice on a bag if willing to give it: save for Longchamp Le Foulonné M crossbody in carmel or Portland leather Portland leather crossbody tote in honey?

    • @NadaManley
      @NadaManley  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

So glad that you enjoyed this and found it helpful! I would choose the longshot tote if you want some thing that transitions from casual to dress up a little bit more. The Portland leather tote is stunning and I have one of them. It is a little bit more casual than the longchamp. I hope that is helpful.

I just want something that always works as I don’t tend to switch bags and I will always be a frugal shopper for the most part- or almost always works, so it sounds from your answer that would be saving for the Longchamp. Thank you so much for responding.

Hi. This was a great video. Even when running errands, I will apply some (minimal) makeup...essential for me, as an older woman, is to touch up my eyebrows. As you said too, lipstick makes a difference. Some time ago, I got rid of most of my leggings/tunic outfits; I wear regular pants and/or ankle length pants with tops I can tuck in or tops that hit nearer to the waist line or a bit longer. However, during our cold winter months, I saved 2-3 thicker fabric leggings with heavier longer-length tops for added warmth.

No big print, no capris, no huge jewelry or over sized clothing to swamp my figure. I wish I were big, but I am slim and Petite. Fine jewelry, in moderation, classic clothing, good grooming, a bit of lipstick and a touch of eye liner suits me. Love vintage luxury handbags and make sure they compliment what I wear. Fads are fun, but not set in stone. We can incorporate some of them, but not all. Use only what suits your body and personality. I like nice nails on the short side with pastel polish. Skin care, a flattering hairstyle, great grooming, go a long way to beauty. Sometimes, styles come around again. If you have something you love, which flatters you, perhaps it will be in fashion again and you can use it.

The dress had a seam down in front because of the grain of the fabric. The design called for a seam to get the garment to ‘hang’ correctly… ugly, maybe, necessary, yes.
