- Comparing 3 different Delta drill presses and their features. They are from the forties, fifties and 2007. I go over what I look for in a drill press what are some pros and cons of each one.
Thanks for the History on Delta drill presses. I've got a "New in the Box" 2005 Delta 17-965 drill press, never opened. I bought it when I was planning on putting together a workshop in the garage and ended up in a 5 year long divorce starting in 2007.
Just now setting up my garage for a small workshop so at least I can finally put it to use.
My dad has that exact Homecraft. I bought an absolutely mint condition 1950 delta DP-220 for $180 about a year ago. Drill deck is mint, no arc of shame. Its my current prized tool because it made it 70 to get to me and im only in my 30s so its gonna have a good life for a long time
Nice, it rare to find them without peck marks in the table.
I just picked up a floor model delta Milwaukee with a 30 serial prefix. It has #566 in brass or bronze on the side. I think that prefix puts it at ‘44. Still trying to figure out what the brass number is. Total made to that point? I went through and cleaned it up and it’s so nice. Hard to find something of that quality new nowadays. I paid $40 for it haha. Very minimal run out if any.

I have the same Delta 14” dp even has the same options. What mobile base are you using for that and do you like?

I recently picked up DP-220 in a very good shape. Runout is 0.002 It was restored by previous owner. According to serial # it's from 1945. Was the chuck on your press threaded on or just JT-33? Thanks.
