From this video, ROG phone 7 is definitely the most natural while maintaining all frequency in balance without distortions. Instruments sounds full and forward. Vocal is clear and not muddy. The others are good as phone speaker except for Pixel 7 Pro sounding too harsh to me and and Huawei P60 Pro that sounds bloated by the bass. Idk because of the recording or the phone it self but Huawei P60 Pro sounds distorted.
Sony XPeria 1 V definitely got sound improved from the prev version. That's awesome. Personally, don't listen like that, mostly with my wired headphones so would like to see something like build-in DAC or something if it greatly improve the sound from this point )
Sony Xperia 1V can't set up the max volume for comparison because it would wash out quality, the best balance level is about 70-80% that let you clearly hear base
For me, speakers are actually the most important aspect in a phone. I listen to a lot of podcasts, youtube and even some music straight from the phone speakers, as I find difficult to carry the bluetooth speaker with me in the bathroom, in the yard when I smoke, in the kitchen or actually everywhere else out of my room, where the bt speaker is :))))) I am using a Xiaomi Mix 4 which has stellar Harman Kardon tuned speakers (unfortunately still in a combo main speaker - earpiece) but I'm looking to upgrade and I want for sure front firing speakers next ... which leaves me with only one option: Xperia 1 V, because ROG 7 doesn't cut it for me in the camera department and all the other phones use that weird combo with the earpiece. I also love that Xperia 1 V doesn't have display cutouts and that it's grippy and I can rock it naked. 3,5 mm jack is a welcome bonus, although I only use earphones 3-4 times / year. The cameras, even though not the best in auto, it's flagship quality and seals the deal for me! I love Sony as a brand anyway, so for the last 2 years I was kind of looking for an excuse to get an Xperia 1 phone, but with 1 IV overheating ... I sticked to Mix 4

Here's another suggestion, it would be very helpful if you could add a section of voice quality from the inbuilt loudspeakers during video call and ringtones. These two scenarios are very different from listening to music over the inbuilt loudspeakers. Movie sounds could also be added but then I wouldn't want to push it too much 😁. Cheers
Typical iPhone audio, I can’t stand my 13 Pro, they didn’t do much for the 14… Quite surprised by the Huawei though The ROG is clearly the best But the Sony as an overall good audio device is really good, the soundstage is quite pleasing

table phone might only lose to "held in front of my face" in terms of speaker usage. unless you got a case with a phone stand, that is. good thing the xperias have front facing speakers
As a sony user it doesn't have the loudest sound but its much clearer than every other phone I've had and heard from essential phone, lg g6, many xiaomis to iphone 14 pro max and it's sound doesn't hurt my ears and i can hear every frequency clearly You can hear the difference in the last rock same clip comparison whre every other phone other than the sony and i think the Asus Didn't hurt with the drum snare and I used my Sony WF 1000 xm 3 that I have for 3 years now
@@kusakabe3264 exactly I'm using the Sony Xperia 5 ii for about 3 years now and it's awesome the only complain I have is going to get fixed as I will install lineage os and I will replace the battery as it's 3 years old with 120hz and 5g it's toasted and I will again have a much better phone than all the midrange crap I could get for the price of me selling it My first phone was the Sony Xperia z after that I forgot about Sony and they were a bit too pricey for me so I stuck to used phones that were the best of last year but for the price I got the 5 ii at 600$ with the wf1000xm3 for free in September 2020 it's nothing for a brand new phone

Did you use any post effects like Dolby Sound Dynamic setting or what other phones have to make the sound better in all scenarios? Just asking to know if the phones were tested in equal conditions with best settings used.
The Xperia 1 V sounded the best, it honestly sounded like it was a flat curve, I'm super impressed.The Rog7 sounded off, mids where to boosted and the bass was to muddy for my taste, the pixel was awful, The Iphone sounded actually quite nice, it did lack some "depth" but other than that it was solid. S23 ultra sounded better than the Iphone, it was very similair but more full, The honor and xiaomi were similair, I found the highs to be a little to much other than that they were servicable, The P60 was actually quite surprising as well, it did similair to the rog, however not as much overboosted mids but still muddy, the Sony Xperia 1 IV sounded a little to thin for my taste, Red magic can best be desribed as tinny but not as awful as the Pixel 7 pro. Overall I'd rank them: Sony Xperia 1 V P60 S23 ultra Iphone 14 Honor Rog 7 Xperia 1 IV Rest kinda meh category, don't really want to give them a rating. You could make another video with more difficult to run tracks, I got some tracks that would likely completely wreck the Rog7 and P60. For example something like: watch?v=Rfekz9oS35s at around 50seconds would probably break them apart.

The topic of this video is really important to me when choosing a phone. I would have preferred the looped samples to start and end on the 1 beat, to give the music a continuous flow. Maybe your musician friend can help you with that
Funnily enough, I recently compared the S23 Ultra to the iPhone 14 PM and the Pro Max was hardly the better sounding phone. It got louder, but it sounds quite piercing and honky especially with pop music. The S23U sounds more relaxed in my opinion, especially when you go into the settings and adjust the speaker EQ..
I have both ip14pm and s23u, and I agree. The s23u sound is just more pleasant. But Im in search for xperia I V and Im blown away by that redmagic 5 pro and P60. WTH? Maybe my ears dont work, but they sounded best next to the sony

Absolutely Pixel 7 Pro is the worst of all of them. Red Magic have good sound, I don't expect that tbh. Samsung and Apple nailed. Sony Xperia 1 V has great sound. And the best, Asus ROG Phone 7.
Definitely the ROG was far superior and the Pixel was just awdul. As for the iphone 14pmx, well not sure what planet your sound friend is on but the sound separation was dire.
Sony is very different when u activate the Dolby Sound option! If Dynamic Dolby Sound is on it can go way louder! But it could be less accurate. I think the ASUS does have something similar. Did u test and check this? Great content u have thanks!

10:22 the musician liked iPhone because it sounded more like an IEM, IEMs usually have multiple drivers to create more sound seperation as they are used on stage. And it also depends on what type of music he makes because to most people even audiophiles better seperation ≠ better sound
Are these done with all EQ settings off? If so it would be cool to see one done with all phones tuned to the most flat curve with the eq settings they have available (if you have measurement equipment to do that), i know at least my xperia 1 mk2 sounds significantly better just by enabling dolby atmos even with flat eq settings, it improves extension and also fixed a slight time alignment issue that the mk2 has by default that makes the sound appear offset, idk if that's still a thing in the newer ones, Another thing to be aware of is that the surface you place the phones on can have a rather large impact on the response of the phones, both by reflecting the back wave and with surface vibrations, front firing phones can sound quite different just from placing them on different tables
If anyone has a mk2 and want to try my current EQ then here's my settings, Preset is any except movie, movie seems to change something so it won't be the same as mine, Then the columns are set like this left to right -5, +3, -3.5, -5, -5, -5, -5, -2.5, -0.5, +3. Then finally the intelligent eq is set to balanced Now this is based on my ears, preference and the music i listen to, so it might have to much treble and or "bass" for some, but it may be decently close to flat since i did measure it at first, but I have tuned it after that so it's not gonna be accurate anymore, Another thing to keep in mind is that the settings stay when plugging into an aux or through Bluetooth so annoyingly you have to disable, enable or change the eq preset every time you change audio device, wish they made that independent 😅 either way enjoy :)

Phone manufacturers should eventually put quality speakers in their phone. Especially with a phone like the z fold 5, you can add more speakers. This phone has the surface area forna great audio experience.
Was the testing by your friend conducted as blinded, so that they didn't know the brand of the device? There's always bias in the evaluation of things such as audio and camera quality, but conducing these tests blinded helps get more objective results.
I'd better pick the Xperia 1 V, for me that sounded more neutral and not harsh, but also adequately loud. The Rog phone 7 was for me the same as Xperia but with much powerful sound. The rest are not to my taste. And that Pixel 7 pro, hurts my ears 😆
Xiaomi horrible and Redmagic just loud. Other phones nice but Xperia was outstanding imo. I can't like the iPhone sound because the lows tend to be strong.
To me, Asus ROG Phone 7 is the best, followed by Sony Xperia 1 V and Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max. The worst is Google Pixel 7 Pro. Sincerely, it's trash in audio.

Might be those test can be nice, if using Offline song file, as offline file is pretty stable and less susceptible to compression

No - all phones were in default mode to be most fair - Sony has Dolby Atmos turned off by default.

Phone manufacturers should eventually put quality speakers in their phone. Especially with a phone like the z fold 5, you can add more speakers. This phone has the surface area forna great audio experience.
Was the testing by your friend conducted as blinded, so that they didn't know the brand of the device?
There's always bias in the evaluation of things such as audio and camera quality, but conducing these tests blinded helps get more objective results.
It was blind - though they are an iPhone user, so they might be subconsciously predisposed to that kind of sound.

I'd better pick the Xperia 1 V, for me that sounded more neutral and not harsh, but also adequately loud. The Rog phone 7 was for me the same as Xperia but with much powerful sound.
The rest are not to my taste.
And that Pixel 7 pro, hurts my ears 😆

Rog phone is objectively 10x better than the iPhone. Frequency response below 80Hz is basically non existent on the iPhone.

To me, Asus ROG Phone 7 is the best, followed by Sony Xperia 1 V and Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The worst is Google Pixel 7 Pro. Sincerely, it's trash in audio.

Its not about how loud the speakers are, its about the sound quality it produces, i think iphone speaksrs are just above average, nothing special
