For those who already owns a Robocop figure will consider this a cash grab but for those like me who missed out on the first one is a opportunity for me.
I can see your pov, it's great that those who missed out previously can now get this great figure. Even though this is a superb figure, it is a cash grab because very little has been added to what is a 9 year old figure. For instance, they could have made him taller - Peter Weller was approx 6 foot in 1987; and 6'2 in the suit - this would have brought his scale in line with the more recent figures. They could have added more diecast pieces, again like what they have with recent Iron Man figures. They could have provided an extra, sculpted, hand specifically for holding the gun. They could have used a more robust rubber solution for the elbow and knee joints, which are known to fail when trying certain poses. The extras are tight too when the previous figure gave us a BD sculpt, chest plate (which was provided in every set). So while it's a great figure, there's no doubting that new owners of it could have got an even greater piece and most certainly a better, more generous set. At approx £400 - twice the price of the previous figure - we should be demanding that bit more, especially when Hot Toys themselves has done a lot more with some of their previous 2.0's.
these figures are beautiful but ill forever be frustrated that they dont have molded gun holding hands. Also theres a good chance that chest plate was a manufacturing/QC error and isnt cause for worrying about paint chipping.
The original Robocop still holds up really well even today. However, the new version looks better because of the subtle purple paint that was added to the armor. It's a shame that the chest plate ended up being defective. It's quite jarring for sure. Whenever you buy a brand new Hot Toys figure, it should arrive in pristine condition, especially considering how expensive it is. I hope that the issue can get sorted out. It's also unfortunate that the arms don't sit a bit more flush to the side and you have to deal with the annoying shoulder gaps. Thanks, Dean! I really appreciate the hard work! "Question" = problem? If so bs!! This a £350-400 high-end collectible, not a £15 McFarlane. As for the figure, it looks great, more screen accurate, but whether it looks better comes down to subjective preferences. The one area I most certainly prefer are the new face plates, they look that bit more detailed to my eyes and have the more realistic flesh tones for someone of Peter Weller's (Northern European) ethnicity. As a set, I find it disappointing. Why did they skip Robocop 2 (more expensive license?). I have no interest in the jet pack and, instead, would rather have more die cast pieces, a hand which will holds the gun correctly, more battle damaged swap-out pieces, a BD sculpt, but that's just me. This is a middle-of-the-road effort from Hot Toys; not quite the mediocre recent Batman Begins set, though not that much better either.
I have the original and the battle damaged, this is the same god damn figure!! They did the same with Chris Reeve Superman and the Evil Version! Slack!
I think secret base only works if you bring the damage figure in and they have spare parts for recently released figures. As the seller doesn't have the figure, or plate, that could be the issue. Maybe their experience there is a small percentage of damage they just don't accept. I.e. Damage being under 2 percent of the figure. So ideally it's only a compensation or return and get your money back. But then paying for shipping etc. Regardless it's not a great position and that would bother me. Sorry to hear that and a great shame. Great review and other than the concern, it's a great figure.

both are great robocop figure , dean. i have the 18 inch neca robocop love him, one of my grail figures in my collection. same as you i love the move one and two .
Though it's not quite accurate, the paint job is much better than the first release, it's almost night and day. And yeah, the pic of RoboCop drawing his Auto-9 at the gas station, that scene took place at night. I'm just as OCD about these kinds of things as you are, hope it all works out for the best! It'd be an expensive fix but a custom paint job could be the way to go.
I was unlucky enough to see it in theaters. I was utterly heartbroken. Robo 3 was a freakin' disaster of a film. I am so glad that he looks like he did in the first movie. Even the stand just says Robocop. I do have him with the jet pack on though, it looks amazing all put together. I love this purchase.
Such a bizarre choice from Hot Toys to use the Robocop 3 license especially when they aren’t using Robert Burkes likeness. Would have been an easy win to repaint the armour in Robocop 2’s heavier blue tones, swap the battle damaged chest and helmet for ones that match that film, chuck in a few canisters of Nuke, keep everything else the same and call it a day. Would have been an easier sell that made sense. This release just reeks of a quick cash grab using an existing licence and likeness they own. Colours are better than the original release at least but I wish they had toned down the high gloss black sections to a satin finish, it’s only in R2 they are high gloss. Also wonder if the issue with the arms is due to them modifying the shoulder sockets? The ones used on the original are clear plastic and fragile, mine broke moving the arm from the pose it had been in since new. Hope you get some £ back Dean and are able to use this to buy a replacement chest.
lol I’m on the same boat as you. I ordered the new one because my old robocop fell off the shelf and got a scratch mark on the clean chest plate and helmet.

Really like the original! I’d have it repainted with the tones, the new one just bugs me because of the gaps on the arms…arggg nevertheless it’s a stunning piece! Sorry about that chip man argggg
You're not alone Dean, I had this arrive today, UK...he has a tiny little hair stuck under the paint in the same place as yours but opposite side...and, I tiny indentation in the back of his helmet. Great day😅
It seems they both still need the right lighting to look their best but the new one looks better than the OG under those conditions. Under bright lighting they both still have their issues. The proto was perfect,, even back in the day. Always thought the legs looked a bit skinny as well compared to the (truly) iconic shot of him getting out of the police car on the poster art. It's so very close to being perfect though.
Tbh, almost every HT figure I have ever bought has always come with a blemish or flaw, be it loose joints, nicks to the paint, loose magnets, cracked neck sockets, arms so stiff in the shoulder joints that I dare not move them etc. Given how expensive these pieces are you'd think that HT would have better QC. It's annoying the flaw on your figures chest is in such a visible spot. It doesn't help that Robocop, like Iron Man, have paint jobs like a nice new shiny car in a showroom, so every minor flaw is intensified tenfold. Chances are, if you were to get a replacement it will most likely have another small issue but perhaps in a less noticeable spot.
i have 3 hottoys robocop. all 3 of them have minor scratch like that. i'd say its not minor. it's small but it's actually a deep DENT. one is in the left leg. and other one is on the right leg. both are deep scratches from the HT factory
Side question... would you mind sharing what camera setup you used for this video? Really enjoyed the comparison! Sorry the figure came with blemishes, though 😞
"Hot Toys doing their usual stuff!" lol! I hear ya! Besides all that, a great figure! And like you, I prefer a waist holder and the richer colors on this guy, but keep it JUST Robocop. Yeah. The third movie sucked, and it wasn't the same guy, so who cares. This figure looks great. A LONG time ago, I had the plastic version of the figure, and it was cool, but I sold it ages before they re-released them in diecast, so I missed out. Good to see you did not. Just return it and get another one later one form a normal reseller , I have had the same issues with figures and taken a refund and then ended up always regretting it

Shame about the damage dude! Anyone else notice on the reference pics used the one where Robocop bends the robbers gun barrel. The shoulder rings seem to be missing on the suite!
Sorry to see it got damaged man I do feel for you hopefully you will get it sorted when your paying alot of money for these high end collectables that's not good enough I know it can happen occasionally but it shouldn't
They took shortcuts with this one, especially with the actor likeness. Too lazy or cheap to get Robert John Burke's likeness. That said, the figure is still great and it'll be my RoboCop 1/2 as I don't have the previous one.
I really like the waist grabber on this. I wish that would have been provided with the OG RoboCop. As I should say the OG diecast RoboCop. I took a waste grabber and I put it on his thigh because the crotch grabber just didn't work
Sorry to see the chest mark as that would drive me crazy as well and has with other figures. Get a refund and buy elsewhere. You'll be happier in the end.
I'd buy that for a Dollar! That new Hot Toys Robocop 3 looked Totally Awesome, but can't top the Original! The Hot Toys Robocop Based on the Original (1978) movie wins! I'm sorry Dean that the Robocop is partially Damaged! I hope you get your refund and replace it with a new one.

Mine also can't get the arms flush and the slight gap bothers me a lot. Although I still love it.

Mine arrived Friday to the UK and I have a very minor imperction on the left shin. Looks like a blob of laquer about 3mm x 1mm.

My Robocop fell off the shelf as well Dean, that crotch grobber for a diecast figure is an absolutely terrible idea.
