The full video for the one shown after that line is her talking about that's why she chooses anal sex and though it makes her walk funny for days, doesn't disrupt her studying. She did a few. The studios usually want their kid show performers to have squeaky clean images.
Funnily enough, the original Full House had a subplot where Becky and Jesse try to get their twins into a prestigious preschool. Talk about eerily prophetic!

* Jamie Lynn Spears' Pregnancy "Zoey 101" (2005-08) - The teen actress got the show canceled for being pregnant at 16.
* Fired For Being Queer "Unnamed Kids Show" - Alyson Stoner claimed they got fired from a children's show after coming out.
* Cody's Final Appearance "Step By Step" (1991-98) - Sasha Mitchell was fired from the show after getting arrested for spousal abuse.
Zoey 101 was already planned to finish anyway regardless of JLS's pregnancy.
Today I learned that Alyson Stoner is non binary. I did not know this.
Also, the actor who played the father on “7th Heaven” turned out to be a perv. Only they didn’t realize this until after the show ended.

The Teletubbies scandal was just ridiculous. Creepy as they may be in hindsight, the accusations against Tinky Winky and his actor are based solelyon paranoia and bigotry, though sadly, would probably still get him fired today.

Religious people make idiotic things up about a children's show, regular people on the street sometimes take it as fact or they laugh about it, suddenly that children's show is corrupted forever. It's really pathetic how people are.
I really hope that the child/teen actors currently involved in Disney Channel/Nickelodeon sitcoms aren't being exploited, and are being looked after well.
I think for Nick now, the kids are much safer without Dan Schendier because let's be honest, there were hardly any other sitcom creators besides him and Scott Fellows. I don't hear anything about Scott Fellows but it's sad that Nick knew about Dan but didn't care.

The Teletubby one would not happen these days without public outrage.
The ones I know about are Fuller House, Diff’rent Strokes, Pair of Kings, Jake Paul, and Andi Mack. The Andi Mack scandal was the most disturbing of all since he was around children and he was being inappropriate to children in private. Disney and other kid networks need to be mindful of who they hire for the adults so that we don't get another Dan Schnieder.

#8 was a shocker to me. Giving a pregnant actor the boot because you don't want to write her character as a teen mother? I know my mom grew up with shows like this, but there could have been a few story lines that the show could have taken on involving a pregnant teen. But what they chose wasn't it, unless the network forced them to let her go. This was also the 1970s, so I guess teenage pregnancies were looked down on with scorn, as opposed to the 1990s and 2000s where network studios were able to work around their younger actors getting pregnant.
Tommy Kirk in Old Yeller looked so much like Wil Wheaton in Stand By Me, despite the movies debuting almost 30 years apart.

The show's premise was much too sappy for such a topic, and it would have completely derailed what it had become... a show for "What you talkin' 'bout, Willis?" Arnold's character.
Shows like One Day at a Time would have been better suited for that at the time. Strokes spinoff The Facts of Life did a teen pregnancy story, but not with a main character.
@@BurnLikeAFlame Different Strokes does have a famous 2 episode arc about a pedophile going after Arnold and friend. It's probably what started the whole 'special episode' thing for sitcoms that dealt with serious problems. I think it's more like what graham said and they didn't want to write her character as a mom as she was supposed to be the innocent/pure character and they didn't want to 'ruin' her or the network didn't want to touch on the subject.
They could’ve just done what other shows did and hid her stomach & not mention it.
Some of these first ones are ridiculous. More “adult things” these celebrities tweeted…why would parents even let you go on Twitter if it’s a young kid show?

They ended Dana's run on Diff'rent Strokes because she did get pregnant, and it was impossible to write around it.

If you look up the full video of the one shown here, she continues that she instead chooses anal because you can't get pregnant that way and can continue studying. The studios probably didn't like their kids hosts not having squeaky clean histories.

0:35 The Good Night Show as a whole is a piece of lost media. Only a handful can be found on the internet, and DVDs.
Two words: Soupy Sales! You're too young to probably know about him, but he had a popular kids show back in the 60's that was wildly subversive and occasionally adult. He got in huge trouble by ending his live broadcast by encouraging his young viewers to "tiptoe into their parents' bedrooms and take those funny green pieces of paper with pictures of U.S. presidents from their pants and pocketbooks and put them in an envelope and mail them to me and I'll send you a postcard from Puerto Rico!" And..........they did it!!
I watched Soupy in the 50's and had moved on by the time his show ended.

Advising teens to not get pregnant is taboo these days. Apparently youngsters are incapable of any form of self-control - According to a lot of adults that are incapable of self-control. Making fun of anyone suggesting _abstinence,_ for example has been the standard reaction of activists for years now....

That's sad about the Teletubby debacle. Kids don't have a problem with possibly gay characters, why should adults? That being said, maybe they could have gone with a name that's less suggestive than Tinky Winky.

The people are just plain stupid, thinking that Tinky Winky is gay, just because he's a boy and goes around with a red purse and sometimes wears a tutu; There are things called a *Mans' Purse'* and I've seen little boys that like to dress up, even if the outfit is girly. The people are just plain unfair. That show is meant for little kids and toddlers, they don't understand the signs of homosexuals anyway.

I was a massive pair of Kings fan as a kid and whenI recently re-watched it with my little brother, I was crushed to see Brady get the boot.

@@bigjoeofthe707 I was a family show and Sonic the hedgehog cartoon has a psa at the end where he talk about child molestation so that episode was seen as a psa on what to do and other well know kids shows at the time talk about drugs so just because it talk about that don't mean it wasn't for kids

@@fanofeverything30465 No, she was fired because she actually DID get pregnant, which she was aware from the start (and thus said she wouldn''t) that she couldn't do because it wouldn't fit her character. There was no way they'd write her character as being pregnant as a teenager. They brought her back as a recurring character after her pregnancy was over, and she was even back in the intro credits for the final season.

the vid in question is actually longer. It was an adult parody video mocking purity culture PSAs. The video continues with her saying it's why she loves anal because she can't get pregnant that way. Studio prob didn't want to have their kids show associated with that.
Rip Tommy Kirk you’ll forever be missed 😢 I loved watching him on old yeller his performance in that was pretty amazing. I know it was a sad movie, but I still like watching him on that movie from time to time. It’s sad that he’s not alive anymore. Only remaining cast member of the film is the lady who played Elizabeth Circe either I’ve seen some of his films, but old yeller will always be his best work

They forgot about Elmo’s puppeteer Kevin Clash for grooming minors, Sesame Street fired him for dating guys that weren’t adults at the time! Also the Teletubbies controversy wasn’t because of Tinky Winky, it was because of its lack of educational value for preschoolers and it’s psychedelic influence that even some PBS stations pulled the show for not being educational enough as Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers!
Actually he was cleared of sex abuse charges it was all fake.
You got most of the Elmo one wrong. And he wasn't fired, he quit. He quit because he basically built Elmo from the ground up and was sad that the character and the show was being trashed because of his personal life.

He was going to be fired regardless, but he quit knowing he screwed up, especially when you work with children as a puppeteer!
Kevin Clash resigned and the accuser said later on that she made the whole thing up.
@@glsweeney721 only one of the accuser lacked credibility like Anita Hill! But the then-underage teen boys who Clash dated, were dismissed because of the statue of limitations, that’s kind of like how some of Kevin Spacey’s accusers weren’t going forward!

The main reason that Nickeloden couldn't make excuses for Jason Biggs anymore, was kind of their own fault. Not that I agree with anything Jason Biggs tweeted, they were terrible. But Nickeloden linked the voice actors' twitter accounts to the TMNT website. So that was the only reason parents found his tweets. If Nickeloden didn't there probably would not have called for Jason to be fired.

Wow I never knew that about Tommy Kirk... sadly, thinking about it and knowing the history of the Hollywood industry towards children (including Disney's own history) I wouldn't be surprised if that was how he'd been treated as an underage boy as well but powerful figures can get away with that kind of predatory behavior if they got caught. Tommy was just an actor, and in those days they basically had no power

When I saw the Tinky Winky thumbnail, I figured that would be the 2nd or 1st pick. I didn't know about the actor wanting the character to be gay (nor anything honestly regarding this controversy), but I don't see anything wrong with LGBT+ rep in shows if it's done in a respectful manner! Now if the character/actor had malicious intent with it being gay, that's another story, but if they just want to have a good representation out there, I don't see anything wrong with it; The character doesn't have to be having sexual relations with anyone, and could just be more "buddy buddy" with chars of the same gender, and heck, the actions can just be subtle and not super "out there" for those concerned about their precious babies being scarred.
Biggs got a sitcom on Fox before being cancelled by COVID
I don't see why replacing the person inside the Tinky Winky suit would change the character. It's the same costume, same voicing style.

Let's be correct about this - the problem with Tommy Kirk was not that the person he was with was underage, it's that he was with another male. TODAY you can talk about age appropriate, but you have to remember back then that the teenage boy in question was as gulity of illegal conduct as Kirk was. You should have also mentioned that Kirk was also dealing with alcohol and drug issues from the stress of having to live a fake life in public, to the point of the studio forcing him to 'date' Annette Funicello.
Actually, a lot of what happened to his acting career was he was charged for possession of drugs. It turned out he had a prescription for them, but by the time it was cleared up, it had cost him some major jobs, including appearing with John Wayne and Dean Martin in The Sons of Katie Elder.
You should have posted clips from the episode on full House where Jesse and Aunt Becky try to get their son into a private School by cheating. 😂

It's odd that Nick fired Biggs for writing inappropriate tweets for children, knowing now what they let Dan Schnider post on the internet. On the other hand, it's not surprising at all that Jake Paul turned out to be a nightmare for the Disney channel as we all know how much they just love to skip background checks.🤮
