- How to refill a Butane lighter
Tutorial on How to refill a gas lighter or Butane torch jet lighter. You will need a bottle of Butane and the lighter you want to refill, a small screwdriver is handy to help bleed the lighter of air and gas as well as adjust the flame height if necessary.

Great tip on bleeding out the air. I couldn’t figure out why no more butane was going in. Bled it and it filled right up. Thanks man.

Thanks for the tips. I didn't realize a bit of sputter is normal and freaked out and stopped last time I tried. This time I put a little more pressure into it and it worked great. Thanks again.

Thank you SO MUCH!!! I'm not very handy and I've watched tons of videos and couldn't figure out why I after bleeding the lighter etc always ended up with a lighter that had no butane inside but it was all over my hands. In the US Robson is in a white with red canister but 1) I didn't know I needed to shake it 2) the brute force method Whoah!!! 3) Automatic results with brute force. I was pushing down like the nozzle was a delicate flower. Freaking butane all over me and the lighter. You can buy cheap 99 cent refillable flame lighters in the US and I got sick of throwing them out and being wasteful but I thought maybe they're 99 cents because they're impossible to refill. Nope, just crap advice until you. Thank you very much
Glad it helped, if I have a lighter that won't refill I find it's generally because something's got into the gas tank, so it needs bleeding first and then just to shove the nozzle in hard until it's full. Sometimes when refilling the lighter gets cold, you'll have to let it warm up first until it's a good temperature again.

ODD YO the fluid just spills out , my fluid has a small nozzle but I wouldn’t see why it dosent work

Thank You so much for the tips. I would like to add on a bit, You can use ballpoint pen to let go of the air. If you have a bit of the gas left but can't light, let go until you feel that the lighter has a cold sensation, that's when the liquid turn into gas and it start to use the remaining liquid in the lighter, that's when I stop and refill the gas that was share on the video. Press hard within seconds it should be filled. Thank You

We used to sell a lot of Turboflame jet lighters.
They often came back as faulty bit the issues were caused by impurities in the cheaper gasses
+Jack Penn Yeah for a more expensive one I have on order I've got some better butane for it but I don't really mind the cheap ones fowling eventually due to cheap butane.

I have a new lighter with no gas and no view port of any kind. Is there a way to tell when it's full? Just wait until to starts spurting out?
I had mine refilled today but it's not working... So wanted to know what could be the problem cos it was lighting but showing signs of running empty... It's a same trojet lighter

Always tried to refill my lighter. Despite it being full, but still unable to fire up. Only sparks. Do help. Annoying to keep throwing it away despite it is a refillable windproof lighter

Thank you for the video, I wanted to check how to be sure the lighter is filled well, until I realize you have a see-through bottom while mine is black. What can I do ? :/
The only real way to tell with an opaque lighter is to judge the difference in weight, if you're filling it and it stops then it should be full.
Usually the gase just spills out but when its empty it does not till its filling up to full

how in the world you can do it so easily? I got the exact same lighter and used premium butane by Colibri and when I filled it, it looked like it didnt create enough gas pressure so the flame coming out is soft flame. Also with my Dupont Maxijet, after refill always turned out faulty.
+lelaki88 Try fully bleeding the lighter first, you may have contaminated fuel stuck in the lighter.

How to refill butane lighter if it doesn't have a valve under the lighter.
I have the same lighter and I refilled it with lighter fluid and now it wont work. I feel really stupid asking this but Is it because I used lighter fluid or I overfilled it or I mixed a little bit of lighter fluid with butane?
Most likely because it's not meant to use lighter fluid but butane, try bleeding the entire lighter by opening the port and then filling it with fresh butane, the lighter fluid could have damaged the seals though.
Hey there. Just wanted to ask if it was possible to overfill and possibly have the pressure inside the lighter blow up?
Not ignite blow-up, but more like too-much-pressure blow up.
In theory the valves should always let the lighter stop you doing that, basically when it gets too full the gas starts to leak out until it is back to normal pressure. But in reality a lighter could explode I guess if the valve broke

If they have a valve like this one then always purge and refill when almost empty. Never top off or it will ruin your valve. If it’s all metal it’s fine like a clipper metal valve.

you can light cigarettes, pipes, candles, incense, and almost anything else you would normally use a lighter for except gasses and liquids

Why the flame is red
Nice tutorial. But I think the lighter itself is removable. So it is easy to see the transparent tank filling up. The yellow part is an outer casing that can be removed by pushing the lighter up from below. Most lighters have a removable outer casing. I think that lighter in the video is removable too. 😅

Yeah, you can do anything you can do with a normal lighter but it's hotter and more windproof.

How do u adjust the flame as mine is burning as a normal lighter without the strong flame...mine IS A WINDPROOF lighter..
There should be a little lever or screw you turn one way or the other to adjust gas flow.
Just blow hard into the top when that happens. Over time dust and static can clog the valve at the top where the flame comes out.
When I blow into it works fine until it clogs again every few weeks through general use.
Edit:. Another way is gently brushing inside the valve bowl with an old toothbrush.

I tried refilling a lighter using this method but for some reason it won’t light after. A spark happens but I don’t get a flame. Does that mean the lighter is broken?
Is the lighter still cold? You generally have to leave them a bit to get back to room temperature

If you mean the Piezo electric spark, once that's gone it's easier and cheaper to replace the lighter

Fine vid, but.. I'm shocked at how many people couldn't figure this out on their own
Southwest NS P. .. It's easy to refill them and elementary as long as you have the right fluid gas for each one! That's the key and trick to it all! If it's not the right gas it will be hard to fill them and also be a mess to say the least. The thing is trying to know which gas or fluid is the best for each one if you can figure that out then you're good to go.

No as butane is a gas.
I did the same method to what looks to be almost the exact same lighter, but when lighting it, it starts like a jet but then ends up acting like a normal bic lighter

@@Dark_Shadow_27 overfilled it. It burns gas, not liquid. There needs to be room for it to warm up into gas.
Lmao… word to wise…. Do not put the lighter down on a surface while filling unless your POSITIVE the button on the lighter is not pushed down… a HUGE fireball just erupted while doing this snd now my arm hair is gone LOL! Great video though

Why did you release the air before the refill?
Because air bubbles in the lighter stop it working properly.
Put compressed air in your brake lines and you’ll find out exactly why he did that. Trust me you’ll remember that for a lifetime. Or blow up a balloon with air and try adding water or soda inside and ask yourself why can’t I fill this balloon with Fanta? It’s not working! I don’t get it. Lol
Just can't get it to work for me :( Did everything to a "t" following the video and all I got was the butane to leak out big time all over my hands and down the lighter. Unreal!! :( Have so many NICE lighters and can't get any of the refilled. Just beyond frustrated. Will HAVE to go to a Cigar Shop in the nearest town to me and see if they can help me which I'm sure they will but still as easy as this looks I shouldn't have to go through all of this just to refill a little lighter. Stress and more stress to say the least. How does the old saying go? "Don't sweat the small stuff" ha! yeah right .. who came up with this one? BTW, really good video!! :)
Maybe you have a broken lighter?
Weaponsandstuff93 ... They 'all' worked before just fine but just ran out of the butane in them. One still lights when I press down and hold it (it's a ZICO torch) but it won't stay on just comes on within a second and stops. I know it's almost close to running out of the butane in it and is probably the reason why it's doing that. I've drained them all just as showed at the bottom by pressing in and you can hear it coming out. So none except for the Zico I just mentioned above are all drained of the old gas 100%. The butane cans I bought to refill them with is Neon 11x Ultra Fine. I heard Ronson is the best. Just don't know. Beyond frustrated to say the least. I've just purchased a few new oil lighters. Can only pray they won't give me a fit like the butane ones have. To add: All of my lighters are still in brand new condition because it hasn't been that long since I purchased them all.
