Napier did benefit from the legacies, but a strong close to the season really helped. I think what dings Miami is the bad home game attendance (except when FSU or UF is in town).
The problem with the SEC recruiting like they do is all the best players are spread out between 8 teams or so. Yes, a few teams like Bama, GA, etc get the lions share but almost every SEC team has their share of Blue Chip players. This makes for a tough slog through the regular season and is the sole reason the SEC is considered the toughest conference to play in. They have the best players spread out over at least 8 teams every year as the team recruiting rankings show. If you look at the Big Ten for instance, you can see most of the best players are concentrated into one or two teams. Not only does it make their regular season easier, it makes it tough for the SEC in the playoffs because the teams they play have a concentrated talent base.
I don’t see Clemson recruiting Fla here out as they use to. Overall, what’s the common dominator with those Top 10 players from Florida? All went to the SEC. Miami doesn’t have John Ruiz pumping that funny money into the football and basketball anymore and Mario isn’t showing any signs of improving from his flaws. FSU is just complete trash recruiting HS players under Norvell and has been since he got to Tally. Even Miami will never fall down to that level. Gators just got to keep the momentum going and keep building off of it, if so, it will be more than just 4 out of those Top 10 yearly
It’s not one year in a vacuum….the only things in a vacuum are whatever gets sucked up into your vacuum cleaner or stuff that’s floating around in outer space. One year’s recruiting results are the consequence of many things that you later named. It’s one year and who knows what will happen next year, and thereafter. The world could implode, but I’m pleased with these results and hoping that before the world does implode we see a lot of good things from the UF football program. Wishing everyone a happy new year from Indonesia where it’s 2025 already!
Maybe. In 2024, 7 of the top 10 went to non-SEC programs. (6 if you count OU, but they weren't in on Signing Day.) It ebbs and flows. Tough to imagine FSU or Miami don't have any '26 guys when pen meets paper. Indonesia?! That's awesome! Thanks for tuning in! Happy New Year!!
@ agreed, and I was responding to your guest who said 4-5 times “ it’s in a vacuum” as a caveat, which it isn’t. It’s just a single year. Everything has a cause and effect in football and life. Even though I’m all the way over here on some island, whatever I say, do or think can have some consequence, however indirectly, on the recruiting class of 2025. I’ve got the power (however little and indirect it may be). Always tuning in to your show. Been a die hard fan since 79 when I was 7, went to my first game at UF, while my freshman year at UF was 1990, which was just as incredible time to be there. It was crazy town.
Come on. We all know that if UF and Miami play again this season, Florida slaughters them. All these kids know Miami got lucky to play Florida early. Miami was way overrated!
Thee other conferences are correct. Excluding Georgia, the rest of you mid has been SEC programs are overrated!!! Whining about our schedule because we didn't face Tennessee, S. Carolina, and Alabama. 😂😂😂 #ThisalumiwantedtheB1G
SEC is INFerior to Big 10 top to bottom 4-1 this bowl season... Bama GONE watch next year 7-5... UF watch been decade n half since ugly Orange dumpster had hardware.... LSU lololololol Texas wont get final this year.... Ohio state Mich Oregon PSU better than SEC top 4..... Nd taking a w against backup ga qb isn't the selling point you think it is Osu got blown out 2x by sec teams for championships in neutral site games Even blind squirrels stumble across a nut every now and again Fl is a defense away from putting the screws to everyone couple different bounces and fl is legit 10-2 9-3 Its easy to stack wins in a conference of cupcakes like b10 play 2 "tough" opponents a yr maybe

In-fighting among Miami players on the sideline at the Pop Tart bowl.

I don't think we can beat Miami next year because we suck on the road but I think we could beat Florida State and South Florida
