- Ft. Madison, IA. Mississippi River. August 2023.
Two northbound tows going through the swinging bridge at Ft Madison Iowa.
The bridge was closed for a few hours to marine traffic, for maintenance, so there were 2 tows waiting.
Both tows made a perfect center line through the opening!
Road traffic piled up a bit waiting for the bridge to swing.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the bird’s eye view of the FMD bridge. The marine radio chatter is a nice touch. Another great video - thank you! (prairieturtle)
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you for sharing this video
This is the first video I have seen of the bridge that really shows the angle of the connection between the bridge and road.
Nice. Thank you.
Hi b w,
Wonderful video!!
I'm really enjoying the views we can't see from the live RR cam located by the Kingsley Inn.
I'm from the Lock 19 Keokuk cam chat group.
Thanks b w
Take care

Hi Debidew, I recognize you from there. Glad you enjoyed it! Seems to be quite a few people that watch both the Keokuk and Ft Madison cams.
Neat, you have caught one of ARTCO's Dawn boats hauling along her little sick sister "Gold Cup" (looks like her rudder assembly is disassembled, and generally looking to be in need of an overhaul) on her hip. Another one of your great videos!
Thanks! Yes it was a pleasant surprise to catch the duo.
The Ingram boat came in on a slide
That Artco boat nailed it
Really enjoyed that view
Thanks for the insight.
Is there a toll charge or fee to cross the bridge? It looked like each vehicle had to stop before traveling off of the bridge. If so, how much? I might have to make a trip to Fort Madison.
Yes, there is a toll to cross the bridge. Its owned by BNSF. The last I knew it cost $2 from IA to IL.(to return was free). It might have gone up recently though.
