Thanks for the video. I in-joy watching it 👍
Awesome. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Much appreciated!
Hi b w,
Thank you so much for this incredible footage! I kept hearing about it, but was unable to watch it live. I always look forward to seeing your videos!
Thanks again!
Take care 💜
Thank you for capturing this…excellent video!!
Thank you for the awesome footage. I saw when the barge sank via VirtualRailRan. I'm glad to see that it was able to be salvaged.
Awesome video! Thanks so much for sharing. It really does answer many questions!
I’m behind in watching this but still want to say thanks for the great video. I’m always impressed at what a skilled drone flyer you are.
Thanks for the terriffic video! Hope you can get out there again Monday to see what they're going to do!!
The red Manitowoc appears to be a 3900, excellent heavy all purpose crane.
The yellow Bucyrus Erie appears to be an 88-B.
2 good old fashioned cranes meant for efficient digging, but also lift crane work.
The barge in the center with the 2 white towers is a heavy lift vessel that's holding the sunken corn barge partially out of the water.
Thank you. This was interesting to watch!
Very cool stuff
Thanks for the video!
There’s going to be some huge great tasting catfish in this area! Corn fed!
Excellent. Can't wait for the next instalment. 👍🏻
This was really awesome, thank you! Much better and closer view than anything we could see on the rail cam. Fascinating to watch the process. I wonder where that corn will end up. And it will be heavily discounted at market due to having a high water content.
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. There are places that take damaged corn. Its value is much lower as you mentioned. Probably no good for feed but should still be usable to make Ethanol for example.
Great video. Are they going to get enough corn out so they can lift it and pump some water out and then finish unloading it?
Thanks. Probably so, although Im not sure what the plan is. I think the barge will float once enough corn (and water) is removed since the inner compartment is likely still intact and watertight.
Im surprised they salvaged it. Expensive wet corn
Thank you for the video. As others have said, it shows exactly what was happening so much better than what we could see on the train cam. I wonder if fish were accidentally part of those scoops?
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it! I think all the fish were busy gobbling up what spilled over. lol
So they're literally taking corn and water from one barge to the other barge. Great video by the way. I saw the barge sinking on Virtual RailFan.
Yes, they transferred to another barge and pumped the water out. Its not easy to see but the pump is visible near the beginning of the video. Thanks for watching!
where did the crane barges come from
I don't know the specifics, but the salvage equipment all came from somewhere down south. It all went through Lock 19 a few days prior.
Good video, but Why didn't you record the whole process? I wanted to see how they re-floated the barge after unloading it. What did they do with the salvaged wet corn? Also how did you keep the drone flying so long? Frequent battery changes/
Thanks, I wish I could have shown more. Schedule didn't permit enough time unfortunately. Ft Madison is 90 minutes from me and i had other commitments.
I think the barge will re-float pretty easily once enough corn weight is removed. The inner compartment was still in good condition and water tight.
Yes @crupert23225 life becomes a question of timing and battery management when getting drone video. It was a cycle of 9 batteries that day. lol
Saw the barge sink on Vetrial Railway.
Carp be like: 👁👄👁
To bad they can’t put a pump in the floating barge to pump the water out
There is a pump in the floating barge, its not easy to spot though. If you look in the first 30 seconds you can see the hose from the pump draped over the edge.
Fish food.
fish loose again.
Excellent video! Seeing your video answers so many questions we had about the salvage of the barge. Keep up the great work! 👍👍
Glad it was helpful!
