    Incredible! This video alone could cover 2 to 3 years of learning at school easily. It's not only entertaining, it's resourceful. Thank you sir! I have no background in excel and in the verse of self-taught. From learning functions to VBA and I thought it's sufficient for my use already but when I'm seeing this video, it's just like a gold mine of infomation. It'll take me months to get familiar with all the steps, tools, and functions that you used in this video. Again, thank you sir! Please keep it coming.🙏

    Thanks for the Video man. Im going on 4 months on excel, and I think my progression is good considering that I have no resources other than online course's and youtube videos like this one. I've been trying to do the same thing but on my own. Only experience I have is running an office pool for family and friends. I thought my original way of working was good enough until I learned that I can have Excel do most of the work for me. I am linking so many cells together, but you've enlightened me on the mapping part. Thats what I need to do.... anyways, you have motivated me to start my VBA course. Thank you!

    Hello! I went through this video step by step by copying everything being done on my own Excel file. The points I found tough to duplicate were naming the shapes as Excel kept going back to the original name. I was able to use Alt F10 which brings up a menu that allows you to change the name of shapes and groups easily. The other part that was difficult was using the Name Manager to create the mapping piece. This is because I have never used this function and not understanding the formulas made it harder to copy them as they were done (a lot of going back in the video and pausing to get it right). All that said, I now have a spreadsheet setup which is very similar to the one done in this video. Yes the colors are off a bit, but the function of it to this point is right on. This was a four plus hour project for me doing it at my own pace while watching and playing back the video as needed. I learned so much from this and want to thank you for putting the video out. Using Excel daily for work I get used to doing the same things over and over but this opened my eyes to new and exciting options this powerful tool has to offer. I look forward to going on to part 2 and finishing my spreadsheet. Then I will work towards modifying it to fit my business needs. A++ on the video and time taken to go through this for public use. Thank you again!

    • @ExcelForFreelancers
      @ExcelForFreelancers  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Justin, Thanks so much for going through, watching the videos and creating the application yourself. That is the best way to learn and you should be commended. IF there is any duplication in shape names, or grouped, they might need to be renamed using the selection panel. The Name Manager can also be a bit complex when it comes to Dynamic Ranges but for sure you will do great. When you are ready to create powerful reports and dashboards you can check out my Advanced Excel Dashboard Reports Masterclass here: bit.ly/AmazingDashboardCourse
      Also I am on part 15 of our Employee Manager which is an amazing and massive project and great way to learn as well. Thanks so much for your comment and continued support.

    • @ExcelForFreelancers
      @ExcelForFreelancers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi and thanks so much for your comment Adrian,. When I originally made this I should have used a different macro name and shape name (they are both called MoveBtn) as some systems will have an error with that. If you change the name on one of them, then change the shape name (if needed) it will work fine.
      Also make sure there is a space between "IncrementLeft" and "30"

      Hi, thanks very much for your comment. Part 2 will dive into the VBA of the application that you see. Customer & Vendor userforms are pretty simple and have covered that a few times before (See the previous weeks 'Data Entry Form', so in this video I just kept them as simple lists so I could focus on the Sales, Purchases & Inventory Aspect.
      This is a very basic solution. As you know Inventory can have TONS of feature. I plan to create a FULL Inventory application along with a Paid course that would be comprehensive and cover all aspects. Thanks so much for your comment and support.

    Hi and thanks for this excellent tutorial. I've come across an issue where when highlighting any one of the transactions where the conditional formatting gives it the highlighted focus, the fact of changing from Purchase to Sales using your very savvy button function also changes the Trans. Type of that entry. That should not happen as this changes the initial entry transaction type. This happens every time you switch back and forth and whichever one you have selected before moving on to other activities, it will keep the last information as per the position of this switch (ie: Purcase or Sales)

    • @ExcelForFreelancers
      @ExcelForFreelancers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi and thanks for your comment. (I see you posted in the group too) In my version when switching transactions based on a selection of the transaction below, the transaction type, color and button move accordingly so please make sure to download my version (Inventory Mgr. Part 2) using the links in the description of that video. Also check your code, conditional formatting rules, along with the order those rules are placed and the conditions to make sure they are all correct.

      hi @vivek pal
      i encountered the same problem but found a work-around... basically what happened is that when you entered a name for the shape (Oval) then software didnt accept it, recall that when you created the Macro you are naming the same based on the name that you are assigning on the excel window. All i did was to go back to the macro and inserted the actual shape name (Oval 2) in both instances and the macro then worked, i have no idea as to why excel didnt accept the name that we are supposed to enter for the shape.
      Hope this will solve your problem as it worked for me

    • @ExcelForFreelancers
      @ExcelForFreelancers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for your feedback and help. I do appreciate that. The problem could be that in some versions of Excel the Macro Name "MoveBtn" and the Shape Name "MoveBtn" are the same. Perhaps in some versions of Excel this is causing an issue. I have made corrections and updated both Part 1 and Part 2 so when you download the sample workbooks the fix is there (but you could easily fix this yourself by renaming the shape "MoveBtn1" then also changing this in both instances in the code. Thanks very much for your feedback

Every existing transaction will be pushing down after click "save transaction" button. So, the transaction table will have oldest transaction in the bottom and latest one on the top. This way, I don't have to scroll down to see the latest insert transaction. How would you change your code to accomplish this task? • @ExcelForFreelancers

      Hi and thanks, yes this makes sense, so that the newest entry is always at the top. You can use VBA to determine the last row, such as
      .Range("A99999").end (xlup).row
      then copy and pastespecial.pastevalues on the 2nd row from the first row>
      This will free up the top row in which to add your new item.
      I hope this helps and thanks so much.

    Love your videos. Very informative. How would your coding look if you had the same part number from 2 different vendors with different costs? And be able to track/auto update inventory from invoicing based on the FIFO (First In First Out) concept? Thank you in advance.

    • @ExcelForFreelancers
      @ExcelForFreelancers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dan, thanks very much for your comment and I am glad you like the video. In the case you mentioned with the same part #'s and two different vendors, I would still have one single inventory items, however I would have multiple Vendor & Price Fields (Even perhaps a small table if there were many vendors that carried the same product) So in the Individual Inventory Item I would have a table of Vendors who carry that item, their part # (if it is different) and their quantities & prices. This way when you purchase an item, this item will be visible on the purchase order. When you create a Purchase order, then select a specific vendor, it is that respective vendor's prices and quantities that will show up on the Purchase Order (I am a former General Contractor, so it makes perfect sense to have multiple vendors with the same product)
      To track via LIFO/FIFO, you can create individual Purchase ID's for each part, then when they are sold, they can then be sold in the order that they were purchased.

    • @danchester2366
      @danchester2366 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the quick response. Is there an email address that I can send the specifics to what I'm referring to? Then once a solution is figured, post a condensed version to the Facebook group for others who might have the same question.

    I would like to make some adjustments to the Inventory Manager.
    1. this Inv.Man. will be used for tracking incoming wood product that goes to dry kiln
    2. then comes out of Kiln to reman mill then back to inventory as a new product
    3. Can I use the existing buttons or do I need to add more btn's
    4. will this application actually work for what I am trying to do?
    5. I there a way to make a flow chart for accomplishing what I want to do?
    Any help would be much appreciated

    Hello! I came across your amazing video while searching for VBA video. Thank you so much for sharing this great tutorial video. I am having a problem with step 19:07 , i tried to change the name box for the shape into MoveBtn and it doesn't seems to change (i tried to change it several times and the shape's name is still Oval). Is there any step that i am missing? Thank you and have a great day!

      HI Saffira, thanks so much for your comment and question. If you have multiple shapes with the same name it may cause an issue. Make sure you show the 'Selection Pane' which will show all shapes on the sheet. You can change names from there as well.
      I hope this helps. Hi Excel for Freelance, thank you very much for your insightful video. I am getting the opposite results for the Sales/Purchase Transaction part using the IF function. For instance, when I enter =IF(B1="Purchase","PURCHASE TRANSACTION","SALES TRANSACTION"), it returns Sales Transaction, even when I have Purchase in cell B1. I don't know why this is the case. Can you please enlighten me? Thank you.

      Hi and thanks for your question. Sometimes there can be a hidden space before or after the text "Purchase" so do check this, since your formula looks correct. I hope this helps and thanks so much.

    Your video is very informative but there seems to be some disconnect with Excel for Mac. I spent some time trying to figure out how to give my document the gradient look only to realize this feature is not offered in the Mac version. Is there a tutorial that covers Mac? Thank you!

    • @ExcelForFreelancers
      @ExcelForFreelancers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi and thanks for your comment and glad you like the video. Excel for Mac is very limited and only has a subset of features that Excel For PC have. You can find more information on Excel for Mac here: www.rondebruin.nl/mac.htm
      I hope this helps and thanks so much.

    This is an amazing guide! Thank you! Also, I'm creating a button with 3 choices but it isn't working correctly. (PURCHASE / SALES / RETURNS). I believe it is running a loop with 3 choices in the macro. How is writing that slider macro different?

    • @ExcelForFreelancers
      @ExcelForFreelancers  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi thanks so much. I am glad you like it. With a 3 Choice option it may be easier to use 3 separate macros. Also you want to make sure to know the existing position that it is currently in, so based on the user choice you know to move it right or left and by how much.
      Its certainly possible. Give it a try then if you need help, please post your workbook and questions in our Excel For Freelancers Facebook Group here: bit.ly/groupexcel
