Bravo Lise, great rendition! Unfortunate San Francesco compelled by Liszt most of the time to walk on crests of force 7 storm sound waves even though he would rather walk on still waters!!!

Un Liszt pur, où l'interprète respecte ce qui est juste écrit ; c'est absolument remarquable, et passionnant ! Merci !

This piece is not the easiest to play, but what a performance. It seemed quite effortless yet the effect is stunning.

Superb! Actually not as difficult as it sounds... a good responsive piano inspires.
Hear Ingrid Carbone, wonderful newer Italian concert pianist!

My impression is she has heard the Nyiregyhazi San Francisco 'church' recording of this work and appreciated its monumental approach. - some similarities. This delightfully unassuming, without pretense, gal focused on the piece's deeper meaning and does so quite superbly.

Sorry the very late reply !
      How is your country ?
Japan is hustle and bustle with Coronavirus infection .
      In the capital area ,
the unnecessary and non - sudden outings are self - restraint .
There are almost not pedestrians in the main streets in capital famous area .
A big city that never sleeps , Tokyo is sleeping slowly and deeply .
      Same for New York .
The center and downtown area of Tokyo are turned into the ghost town .
Debussy's 「Pagodes 」 looks great in this lonely atmosphere .
When I listen to this masterpiece , I think that the metropolis of Tokyo resembles The Tower of Babel , which is desolated with the wrath of God .
Please listen to Pagodes ( Tower ) of Debussy by all means .

Shin-i-chi Kozima Thank you very much for your kind words about Spain. We admire japonese country and their people.... I am a 83 ,so I have to take care about my health and stay at home as much as possible. I have just read about James Rhodes a good pianist but his childhood wasn’t happy at all.
He begins every chapter of this book “Instrumental”, recomengin? diferent pieces played by different composers and fortunetelly has make me find some works I didn’t know. Although is a hard book I enjoined reading. My best whiskers for you and your country!!!

@@seanfogarty5559 I Get what Wayne means. Whilst technically Ervin played horribly compared to modern concert pianists such as the above he did do things others did forgo ... play with absolute passion and was able to grab hold of the inner melody much better, the darkness that was in this piece is very much lacking in this performance. Also for most of the middle section the left hand was too dominant and the tempo was continuously getting faster and faster making some parts of it really lose its entire meaning. This isn't really a flashy piece when you play it as intended. Sure, her technique is very good (not flawless btw) but her interpretation is lacking, the exact opposite of Nyiregyhazy.

    • @seanfogarty5559

@@DJStefandeJong I understood what he means, and I'm aware of the positives of the performance he suggested - but Wayne's comment was extremely rude in the way it was phrased. Her playing was good.

@@seanfogarty5559 fair enough, the 'then relearn it' part sounds a bit rude yes, but it is in fact pretty much true. I Recently heard a version of the Dante Sonata that made me rethink a few parts, it requires relearning the phrases to adopt what I liked about the interpretation so his reply was factually pretty much spot on but it sounded more harsh than necessary.

J always thought always that a teenager prodigy don't always makes an international career : it's obvious that this young pianist have not passion , sensory temperament : she has a technical pianist but not sensitivity , j see that about ten years old with an easy Chopin-valse , difficult piece is not necessary . J has a child less ten years old and j remember this very young . Very good teacher Luse De La Salle in fact everybody in 2004' talked more that she was only forteen years old with her first Ravel-recording than Ravel-sonatine . An international pianist career starts at twenty five y old ( Lugangsky 28 y ) before it' more a show than music , Clara Haskil was unknown before 40 Y old it's an e ception of course but j think that a teenager records Ravel it's not serious. This Listz legend 2 is a calamity
