  • Took off from T67 on RWY 32 with about 8 gallons of fuel after installing a dynamic balancer and tweaking on the lower baffles again. Visually, I couldn't tell much difference in vibration but feeling the instrument panel, doesn't seem to vibrate at all now. Seems like the video the camera captures has changed too. I left the power in until just reaching the west side of Eagle Mountain Lake and was above red line (2746 RPM at 3000') The Cessna calling Bridgeport as I taxied to the pumps was the DPE (Lou) that gave me a check ride 10 years ago! We chatted at the fuel pumps and he was happy to hear I'd been flying and built my own plane.

$5.00!!! No wonder you're flying to Bridgeport!
I've been waiting to see your experience with the Balancemaster...being that I'm about to put a new prop on, it seems like a good opportunity.

Yes! God Bless Texas! RPH and JSO have even cheaper fuel (4.60 & 4.00). I think the balancer is a good deal because the static balance only gets up to 2230 RPM. The cost for two of those balance jobs is more than one Balancemaster.

The EAA is a good resource for experimental/homebuilt aircraft knowledge. Airventure at Oshkosh is a great place to see many homebuilt aircraft too. I think there were over 1000 home built aircraft there this year.

It's a component that bolts in front of the prop that dynamically and continuously balances. Similar to balancing beads in tires.
