This man was so ahead of his time. No one today even compares!
"WE ALL SHINE ON"
John Lennon - lead vocals, acoustic guitar, grand piano, backing vocals ; George Harrison - electric guitar, piano, backing vocals ; Klaus Voormann - bass guitar, Alan White best known for his tenure in the progressive rock band "Yes" played drums on John Lennon's song "Instant Karma!" , which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London in January 1970. White was 20 years old at the time and a member of Lennon's Plastic Ono Band, which also included George Harrison, Klaus Voormann, and Billy Preston.
This song made me cry the day it came out and I bought the single as a little kid, as it just did again
On Jan 27th 1970, John Lennon wrote, recorded, and mixed his new single, “Instant Karma!,” all in one day. It ranks as one of the fastest-released songs in pop music history, recorded at London’s Abbey Road Studios and arriving in stores only ten days later. The single peaked at No. 3 on the US chart and No. 5 in the UK.
Lennon later stated, “I wrote it for breakfast, recorded it for lunch, and we’re putting it out for dinner.”..... “I knew I had a hit record.”
Was just about to post this fact. Unreal.
LOVE this song so much! It means a lot to me. 'Why in the world are we here? Surely not to live in pain and fear! ' Those lyrics always come to mind when I'm feeling too depressed to get out of bed. It makes me get up and try to make the most of the day. And he's right...life is short.
Instant karma is an Instant classic
"Instant Karma" - add "vibe", and experience (individual dose)
Stephen King has said that the lyric "we all shine on" from this Lennon tune, gave the name for his novel "The Shinning"
🤫
Another wonderful John Lennon song is Happy Xmas/War is Over with the Harlem Boys Choir.
JMBoy you translated that beautifully! John Lennon couldn’t have said it better, he is smiling big today! Good one ✌🏽🥰
Excellent lyrical analysis 😍
John Lennon.... My Favorite Singer/Songwriter/Musical Influence
Favorite Lennon song!❤
Lesson learned. Next !
Never really been a Beatles fan John Lennon is my favorite of the four...

Well, I am pretty happy with this reaction! Keep it up!
John Lennon…. Most Important Person In Modern Music History. “The Beatles…. Greatest Musical Group In History. Nobody else even comes close.
Loved this song when it came out. Had to buy it.
One of my all time favorite songs. The drums are hypnotic. Thanks!
Awesome read
I love the way you analyzed it. Absolutely perfect 👍
We all shine on like the 🌖 ⭐️ ☀️
Alan White's drums totally make this song.
Great Reaction Young Man.
This is a cool version, but please check out the original studio version. It will suck you in more. It's so infectious. Try to find a remaster version. You are a deep young man. I enjoy your channel a lot. Your facial reaction are fun to watch...or your giggles. You really are enjoying your journey. Shine on brother. Good Karma coming your way.
John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Don Henley. If they wrote it… it is something you want to hear.
The raw studio mix 👍
You Got it JMBOY
You first did Lennon with... "Working Class Hero", I recall suggesting this tune a week later, glad another Patreon did the same. This song is a must for John's Playlist....COOL
Anything by John is fantastic! Thanks for suggesting. :)
No hate, just an fyi, Mark, 'Patreon' is the proper name of the platform - kinda like 'Google' or 'Instagram'.
The people who join someone's Patreon are called 'patrons'.
"Patron:
1. a person who gives financial or other support to a person, organization, cause, or activity.
"a celebrated patron of the arts"
2."a customer, especially a regular one, of a store, restaurant, or theater.
"we surveyed the plushness of the hotel and its sleek, well-dressed patrons"
@@lauraallen55 I am well aware of that...I Prefer using "PATREON"
The two videos for this have Lennon singing live to this recording, with the band miming along.
Prefer the studio version. Maybe check that out sometime
Incredible song! The version I always heard on the radio had a ton of slap back echo on it. On both vocals and drums. Does anyone one know if that was just the radio version or did they go in and remaster this and remove the echo from the tracks? Anyone?...Anyone? I like both versions. This is the first time I've heard this version and I dig it. Seems like it's fatter sounding and with more of a punch. Love this song!
This is a raw studio mix first released 2020. The slap back version is still the one👍
The Released version is better, lots of reverb on Lennon’s voice provide a spectacular period vibe.
I’ve never understood the rationale for listening to an alternate take of a song, any song, before hearing the actual studio release. There’s always a reason why alternates were set aside.
The great reaction you are getting for this video is..."Instant Karma"
Yeah not the final song. The final production sounds better.
Great f n pik JM!

There is a movie called "Across the Universe." It takes place in the 60's and it is pretty much a Beatles musical. Watch it! I included a link to a clip where they sing "She's So Heavy"
John was never completely comfortable with his singing voice. He would almost always use some kind of vocal effect when a song was mixed down to record. I like this unaltered vocal recording better than the original. It's more raw and gritty!
Not a great fan of the Beatles, liked the White Album and Yellow Submarine.......this particular song by Lennon is hard to dislike....for sure.
Wrong version FFS.
Sounds damn good to me.
There's no "wrong" version of this song.
Possibly his best solo song, not my favorite mix of the song
DAMN ........... just saying
I've heard this song a million times over the past 50+ years, but I've NEVER heard this super extra dry remix of it. This most definitely is NOT the original record that people have been listening to for decades. How can I be the first person to notice that fact?!
