  • Join us as we work on more camper demo, removing fixtures and trim. Also, John tries the GoPro in a new filming perspective (which ends up needing some work). Many thanks to our subs that are following our journey. We hope our film making skills will continue to improve and our channel content will too. Remember to hit that thumbs up....it helps our channel grow. : )

    Dont you just love how these campers are built? all staples and tape LOL If you will be living in the camper during the winter I suggest plywood skirting around the bottom, it helps a LOT with keeping the cold off the floors.

      If they were made any better they might not be able to travel down the road the way they do now. Someday materials will improve to allow for both quality and the ability to be lightweight. I'm sure cost is a big factor.

    For the headgear, I would say point it down just a smidge

    Nice coat or two of white paint would really brighten up the room ❣️

    You are really making progress on your demolition of the camper. Will be exciting to see the changes you will make.

      Ridge View Homestead, I'm sure it does. However, just keep in mind that demolition always takes longer because of wiring , etc.; once you are ready to rebuild, it will re-motivate you. I've been watching a channel that is doing a whole renovation of a double wide. They started at the beginning of spring, and as budget allowed, have progressed. The big thing to me is they and their two children have lived in it during all the work. You will continue to make great progress and be building before you know it.

    I think when you put the trim back up it will help the sag of the ceiling pieces. Bye Bye 90’s 😄

    Found you through our neighbor on the next mountain from us channel. Hickory Ridge Homestead. Our place is just down the road in Leslie

      Nice! We'll have to have a meet up at some point. We almost bought a 10 acre parcel in Leslie. It was perfect but we took too long to decide and it sold. Thanks for joining us!

    Your ‘headgear’ camera worked well.
    Looks like you’ve got quite a little project going there. I’m sure you’ll ‘get er done’ though!

    Might be a good idea to check the weather proof ness of the slide outs and the roof.

  • @bennapier9260
    @bennapier9260 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Put a shed over it. I don't care how good you think the roof is sealed. Sitting in the weather it will start leaking in no time. I've learned this the hard way. They are designed to be stored under cover. Used a week or 2. And put back under cover.

    • @ridgeviewhomestead3900
      @ridgeviewhomestead3900  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. We plan to cover it when after we move it to our property. We still have to do road work and get our utilities and septic set up before we can live there. When the camper remodel is done we're going to begin on the property in Marshall.

      We have a place in Leslie. We are trying to get our camper up there. We have power. Had a driveway put in but didn't pick the spot well. And it's so steep. I'm not site we can pull the camper up it. At least not with my truck. May have to get my go to guy for all things in Leslie to tow it up it with his big truck.

    • @bennapier9260
      @bennapier9260 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We come up for a few days quite often. We're coming up next weekend. Was hoping to meet some of the local homesteaders I found on TH-cam. You and hickory ridge are just right by us. As far as moving there. That's a complicated deal. Will tell you more about it if we meet you. It was our dream though.

    The headgear cam worked very well. Not trying to be a jerk but goodness, as expensive as those things are they are surely made cheaply. Can't wait to see what you do to it to make it more comfy to live in while you work on the property. Did you say you are building a home, I forgot?

    • @ridgeviewhomestead3900
      @ridgeviewhomestead3900  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think they make them better now (the newer ones) but they have to be light so they can travel down the road. We're only remodeling the camper currently.

    Is this a temporary home for you guys? If so don’t pour a bunch of money into it. But with winter coming I’d definitely get the floors insulated. You could always demo like Chip does on Fixer Upper!

    • @ridgeviewhomestead3900
      @ridgeviewhomestead3900  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it's temporary and you're right, we're trying to stick to a budget and not get carried away.

  • @ShadowMoonFarms

    What you are looking at is not what we are seeing with the camera. You were taping the wires into the wire loom and we saw the wall above. Maybe the camera needs to be tilted down more?? Please move a little slower when turning around. It's unsettling to more so fast with the camera. Thanks for taking us with you as you work. Best primer to use is Zinsser Bullseye 123. It will not lift the paper on those weird wall panels and will give you a good surface for paint. I used it in my RV with great results.

    New sub here, but why do so much work on temporary shelter? Leave it as is and resell it when you move into your permanent place...
    Call me crazy or lazy, I just don't understand.

    • @jcyran
      @jcyran 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think "temporary" will probably be a couple (or maybe more) years. That's how it seems to work on some of the other homesteading UTube channels.
