"THE KING"...then and now...He still is the gold standard of what a rock & roll artist should be.
You know he made 31 Films.2 documentaries of live shows. Many shows in the 50s. The first live concert ever shown around the world to more than 2 billion people. Some say more. He gave Houses,Cars, jewellery, Money, Helped many different people. I could go on....
You're right, he was the best all-round entertainer to ever stand on a stage and he oozed charisma. It may surprise you to know, though, that he was so nervous about doing this live performance on the '68 Special that they had to delay the start of it because he was afraid to come out of his dressing room. After being away from performing live for so many years he thought that no-one would like him any more. He was a very humble man and he never took his fame for granted.
Thank you for this great reaction and I hope you will listen to some more Elvis soon. There's certainly plenty to choose from as he recorded over 700 songs in his all-too-short career.
The original rock star. Great performance
I'm old enough to remember Elvis 45s with the black RCA label
I was a big Elvis fan ... had all his records. Elvis was 33 yrs old in this performance. The closing song was special .. "If I Can Dream".
The Legend. I will love him as long as I live. Elvis forever ❤❤❤❤❤❤
The most incredible thing about Elvis, his entire career, with all the music, concerts, films etc. Lasted only 23 years. He worked constantly.❤
This is the BEST reaction video i have ever seen. Elvis was, and still is, the greatest performer of ALL time.
What a beautiful man. And a rockin singer with a voice full of grit and honey.
The girls didnt scream because they were on TV! When he is in Vegas or touring the girls were still screaming 😊
Plus it was 12 years away from the screaming era. These are old married ladies! 😊
Elvis still rules as the best entertainer of all time. I saw him four times. He was just mind blowing in person.
Back in 1950's you thought this is what's was to come in singers, but no one has come near him. His voice, charisma the moves,
Plus the best looking man you have ever seen. I have watched this special many times. I still love LOVE ME TENDER. The song
and movie. It is great to see you younger reactors appreciate him. More please.
Elvis as always showing why he is "The Greatest Entertainer of all Time!!" ❤❤❤❤❤❤!
I have loved Elvis since I’m five years old. I can remember the moment I saw him on my black-and-white TV just like it was yesterday. When I looked at him, it was a bond. I wish I could explain it … it was this enormous feeling of pure love. I never felt anything like that from anyone else. As a little girl, he was my hero and now as an old woman, he remains my hero. I was so lucky to see him in concert many times. Those were probably the most momentous moments of my life… it was an enormous lightning bolt when he walked on stage. Nothing absolutely nothing compared to those moments. People laugh at how much Elvis was loved. I didn’t love Elvis because he shook his hips or because he was so handsome or that his voice was incredible. Those were secondary to me. I loved Elvis Elvis, the poor little boy from Tupelo, Mississippi, who is shy off stage felt awkward around other people and was not perfect. I even could correlate my life with his addiction and my own addiction to alcohol. It made him even closer to me because we both struggled. We struggle through something other people can’t understand unfortunately I survived mine and found recovery. It was a tremendous loss that he didn’t. But I, probably would not have endured or have gotten through the struggle that I had to go through. If it wasn’t having God , my family and believe it or not Elvis at my side , he was my higher power when I couldn’t find one. God bless this man because I will love him until my last breath and I mean that with sincere honesty, he meant that much to me. God bless you young man and thank you ❤️
Love your reaction. The KING 💕💕💕💕
That was fire ! No one like him till this day the king !❤😊
Elvis’ song “In the Ghetto” is an astonishing change of pace for him, addressing serious issues, and great vocals. Highly recommend it.
Love Elvis! A day no pass without listening to his music, interviews or something !❤️ TCB ⚡️
A healthy Elvis! Full power…
Thank you for not going to the Vegas years like everybody else. He was in his prime here and everyone should experience this first.
He had charisma in spades.
Awesome Awesome reaction my brother! Thank you! More Elvis please! 👊😉
Great reaction. So glad you found the magic of Elvis. Nobody can compare.❤❤❤
is this where I comment still trolling Elvis reactions?😜
I watched the 68 special on TV as a kid. I was 12. It was amazing.
Play more! I’ll be watching! I love this man so much ❤️❤️
You did more ELVIS!!!!! And as promised, I just subbed! More EP please!!!
depper is dead. oh that's right your that rockin realtor.
This is an invited audience - hence the not screaming so much. If you see concerts right op to his death, there was still screaming there
He was special! Never to be equaled ❤
Love Elvis! Great reaction!
Su carisma su belleza su sensualidad su voz es indescriptible maravillosa podrías reaccionar a " Just pretend " Las Vegas 1970 soy nueva suscriptora gracias por tu tiempo y respetuosa reacción ✌️
Great Elvis reactions bruh 👍👍 you can't go wrong with Elvis
On a portion of this show (the live parts on the small stage) the NBC Orchestra were just offstage playing along with Elvis singing live. On the parts with pre-recorded backing music (the scenes with dancers etc) the drummer on most of those tracks was Hal Blaine!
So many Elvis songs to react to, you’re in for a great ride. Please take a look at Love Me Tender live 1970 and Trying To Get To You Comeback Special again, to name a few. Elvis is the best 💙
I was watching when this was broadcast. It was pretty well received by critics. Loved your review.
Elvis grew up in Mississippi near Memphis (Tupelo is pronounced Too Pa Low)
Elvis at this point was sex on a stick! As well as just plain fabulous!
LOVE him.❤
They never got used to it, there were conditions to be on the TV set at NBC. His fans continued to scream, among other things at his live concerts.
Subed for Elvis..... Please continue down the rabbit hole, you will always be amazed. Music and documentaries.
"Bridge Over Troubled Water" Las Vegas 1970
I actually used to have a pair of blue suede shoes😅
The girls will never "be used" to Elvis. There are no ones like him these days though. I've had so many women watching him and going absolutely nuts, that I don't even know. To be honest, when he was at his prime I was almost doubting my sexuality myself. And I consider myself very straight. But Elvis is just so good.
PAul M did a great cover of All Shook Up on his oldies cover album Run Devil Run
I had a pair of Adidas blue suede shoes
Glad to see some ELVIS on your channel. You must do songs from his time in Las Vegas.
'Bridge over Troubled Water' (paul simon song)
Simon said "how can I sang that again" He was paying tribute to Elvis. Many more songs others can request also.
Elvis grew up in the country on the 'wrong side of the tracks' as they used to say. He lived in a mostly Black area in Tupelo, Mississippi until age 13 when the family moved to Memphis. It was a time of segregation - there were 'whites only' radio stations & places where you could perform live; and 'Blacks only' radio stations & places you could perform live. Elvis broke through the barrier as his music became loved by both white and Black audiences thus making it possible for Black artists to break through the barriers as well. As for the screams, they continued throughout Elvis's years performing live to the tune of tens of thousands of fans at tour stops. The 1968 Special required that the screaming be kept to a minimum as the show was being filmed & the producers didn't want the screams over-taking Elvis's vocals. You can't miss with any of the songs Elvis performed during the 1968 special; ditto to That's The Way It Is movie which was Elvis performing in Las Vegas. "Polk Salad Annie" and "Suspicious Minds" from That's The Way It Is are great representations of Elvis's style heading into the 1970's & are not to be missed. Thanks for the great reaction.
👑✌️
You should listen to some of his slower numbers from the same show. Can't help fall in love with you, It's now or never, and Are you lonesome tonight and One Night.
More Elvis !
Nice pick Lee. Maybe Elvis 's 4 best early songs!!
Elvis’ karate discipline is called Kempo.
I have loved Elvis since I was 9 years old. I think he is so sexy& gorgeous ❤ Love Elvis forever and always ❤️🥰🔥🙏😇
By 1968, Elvis had not performed live or really made any significant contributions to popular music for about 7 years. Popular music, however, had changed significantly during these years, and arguably to a degree not witnessed since Elvis himself had exploded onto the scene in the 1950s.
As you know, the clips you watched come from the legendary 1968 Elvis Comeback TV Special, which successfully reestablished his relevance within the popular music scene, and reignited his amazing singing career.
This show may have never happened if left up to Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis's "manager." For one, Parker had assured NBC executives he would handle ticket distribution for the show, and “bus in” fans from across the country to fill the studio. However, by the day of the show, Parker had done nothing, and only a few people were in line to see the taping. So, producer-director Steve Binder and his team asked people from a nearby Bob's Big Boy restaurant to attend, and also advertised on local radio. Can you imagine being handed a totally unexpected, free chance to witness history in the making!!!
Elvis was known to suffer from stage fright, and was understandably terrified of performing live again, especially after so long. But fortunately, the informal “standing and sitting" sections of the show saw Elvis, clad in black leather and surrounded by a few hundred fans, regain his confidence and demonstrate incredible showmanship.
During the informal “sitting" section of the show, Elvis was on guitar and jamming onstage with a small familiar group of musicians, including guitarist Scotty Moore and percussionist DJ Fontana, who had been members of his 1950s backing band "The Blue Moon Boys.” You should check out this informal jam session, especially Elvis's amazing rendition of "One Night With You"!
Try out Mystery Train, In The Ghetto & Lawdy Miss Clawdy.
Hard to believe that Elvis suffered from stage fright at the beginning of every live concert his entire career.
Blue Suede Shoes was written by Carl Perkins whose recording was actually a bigger hit than Elvis's version that came later. But while on his way to New York to be on TV, Carl and his band had their car hit by a train, putting him in the hospital and while he was recovering, Elvis appeared on Ed Sullivan performing the song and the rest is history. Carl was always a consummate gentlemen in interviews and was never bitter. He would joke that back then, he already had a wife and kids and a face like a pail of gravel - "I was never gonna be Elvis" and he would also remark that Elvis bought him a lot of Cadillacs over the years with song royalties. But late in life he did get tired of being asked about it and once said, "I got two things to say about Elvis Presley: he's dead and I didn't do it."
Elvis put his vocals to 768 individual song titles. Well over half of these titles were Elvis originals.
Bello e vero il tuo commento 😊
They still did.
You should watch 2022's Elvis film. It shows how he pissed off the Colonel during his '68 Comeback Special. He would be dead less than 9 years later.
I freeze music video images and turn them into jigsaw puzzles. As a tribute to your eclectic mix of music I froze you and Elvis split screen. Both 30 ish, relatively fit, but not tanned. Either Elvis has giant hands or that is the oddest performance mike I've seen from that era. Any audio historians out there.
He was born in Tupelo,Mississippi and move to Memphis, Tennessee. Like Frank Sinatra, or Whitney Houston, Elvis was not a writer
No, he wasn't, however, he was producer for most of his music when he signed for RCA. He knew how he wanted it to sound!
I still prefer these songs and performances from the 50s, both original releases and live tv performances from the Dorsey Brothers Show, The Milton Berle Show, Ed Sullivan Show. Be sure and listen to the studio version of these songs as well. Funny story about the audience here. His manager was supposed to distribute the tickets, but because his manager was against this live portion (among other things) of the show, the day of nobody showed up because his manager, Tom Parker, didn’t distribute them. They literally went to restaurants to round people up, called the local radio station for free tickets, etc, to get people in the seats. That’s why you didn’t see the crowd go nuts…they weren’t his fans. My favorite of the medley from in the 50s was Heartbreak Hotel.
Elvis and Michael Jackson mentor was Jackie Wilson If you ever see Jackie Wilson when he's dancing he would drop to the floor there is no one else like Elvis I refuse to listen to any of his music covered by anyone I watched all these movies and listen to all his records
now try what now my love live from aloha from hwai live 1973.
Too bad you did not have the longer version of Blue Suede Shoes -- th-cam.com/video/Ak5KEbi8Nac/w-d-xo.html -- it begins w-him sitting then going center stage -- but the best part? THAT FINISH -- the super closeup where he says " aha, keep it goin' son" - that tops it all.
Except for a stripper, who else has the balls to perform on a stage that small. OK, maybe that's the wrong metaphor. I think he was trying to revive his image as a serious rocker. He had been kind of turned into the nice boyfriend in most of his movies with songs that were best characterized as soft rock. Just think if he had been killed in a plane crash going home this night. Our last view of him would be 30, fit, and tanned.
Elvis, the great white hope for white America.
Isn't amazing the effect amphetamines have on a person.....if only for a short time just like his lifespan
