  • Can you prevent purchase tracking with gold? It's an issue with an easy answer today: cash. Down the road, though, as the drive toward digital payments continues, I think it makes sense to give yourself more options by having access to physical assets. Cheers!

Given that ALL fiat currencies end up imploding, we need to be cautious in allowing to use another one. There have been over 6,000 fiat currencies throughout history. All of them, without exception, have gone the way of the Dodo bird and broke a lot of people's hearts and dreams along with them. I am of the opinion that we need something more along the lines of Constitutional currency, or at least something tied to a gold/silver backed currency. Everything else is just another Ponzi.

Thanks for the video once again. In Britain it is very difficult to buy gold with cash. The government tell us it's to prevent money laundering by drugs dealers which is a good idea but it misses all the innocent people who want to use cash because they wish to remain anonymous. Whether it is used against us is still to be determined, but the info is definitely out there to profile us. Cash is so important for privacy especially in today's hyper connected world. If you receive government benefits like Medicaid or Food stamps, all your spending that isn’t cash is tracked. If the number’s don’t add up, your benefits are reduced or eliminated. To me, that’s a good reason to own gold or jewelry, if you can store it safely, to be able to sell to improve your lifestyle, or even to be able to afford gifts for children and grandchildren. A health crisis or job loss can impoverish almost anyone.

In Australia the limit to withdraw cash from Banks is 10K. If one withdraws 10k ,that has happened to me, I need to filled a form. I usually buy 10oz of bullions or coins at a time and these days I just use bank transfer. Yes they knows where my money goes......but I dont care. Afriend of mine sold his home for 800K and spend it all on Gold. I wonder what the government say about that????

I don't worry too much about them tracking groceries. But I do have a plan for purchasing stuff I don't want tracked. Maybe it's ammo, precious metals, firearms, camping supplies... Also, just because they know I purchased some things X years ago doesn't give them any reason to suspect I STILL have said things. If and when someone comes round to check up on my stuff they'll have to jump through all of the hoops before they actually see any of it.

But the biggest threat is those that would implement/promote/perpetuate a crisis would have to permit a crisis large enough that the loss of control would be a very real possibility. A couple of years ago I read about an online food storage (prepper) company which was required by the government to turn over their client list to the government. The online PM companies claim to have their customer's privacy in mind with encryption of all transactions, but my thinking there is still a risk of having a purchase history harvested by the government.

I’ve recently been selling off one form of asset and buying another. The intermediate valuation and transaction is usually done in $US of course, though a few recently have been direct exchanges - with valuation and bean-counting still requiring the intermediary of $US. Back in the olden daze there was a direct standard: 1oz Au = 1 S&W Model 29. Entire complex swaps were sometimes guided by that equation. I’m sure some parties to such business at least thought about dollar valuations, but the were the hardcore that did not. I miss those folks and the olden daze.
