The first time I saw this show, when this song ended I realized somewhere in the middle I had stopped breathing. It was so stunning, I just involuntarily held my breath and didn't realize until the song was over.
let me clarify. Why is she not more universally known, I feel if you don't know theatre you don't know the true talent she is. Very few people I know knew who she was till showed videos. I also live in rural Midwest of the US. I have been a fan for about 20 years.
I wish that this was the recorded version. I feel her live videos are so much better than the recorded sound tracks (still a god on CD, there is just so much more here)

I don't know if you are the one who recorded this, Aurora, or if someone else did but the glorious being who recorded this needs to be prayed to daily. They managed to be there on the night she sang this the absolute best! This is marvelous and I've probably watched it 1k times. As always, THANK YOU for posting it!
It's so visceral. First time she sings that note it's effortless but now with that lyric she busted a gut. This is the Patti that helms at the top that can say whatever she wants. Yes.
I played percussion in this for our summer musical (great percussion!). The woman who sang this just sang it. One day I told her it was one of the saddest songs I’d ever heard. She looked at me, confused. After that, she always took a hankie out of her purse to wipe her “tears.” That helped a bit. It always bothered me that it was written “or the screams of a woman that’s incomplete.” It should be “who’s incomplete.” Sorry to be picky but it’s such an incredible song.

I saw the show. Blech! Bartlett Sher, the director was right near me and he was far from beaming. Disaster was in the air.

The show's composer has no talent but lots of luck. This show had the best cast since Ragtime and it farted.
