what i wouldnt f*cking give to be there live or to have them play at a very small venue and have the energy this damned beautifully lucky crowd had then ;(
I WISH RISE AGAINST WAS STILL PLAYING SHOWS LIKE THISSSS!!! I went to see their show in october and it just wasnt the same, a bunch of mainstream crowds on a huge stage the crowd was lame too
This is why people say Rise Against have lost their touch in the Punk Rock community. It's not the music they play, or the songs they write, it's the power and emotion they lack which turns the fans away. I mean yeah they are getting older and it's hard to stay a hardcore vocalist as you get older, but the entire band is lacking the emotion. Brandon plays the same drum pattern every song, I know it's supposed to be punk, but there is no creativity or inspiration to his drumming, it's just play the same generic punk beat and call it a day, as a musician who see's this kind of music as an inspiration it's a real turn off to hear that shit every song. Joe has stepped up his bass playing tremendously over the past few albums, but it's mostly still the same 5 notes strummed over and over again. Listen to someone like Matt Freeman play bass, it opens up an entirely new world, and he doesn't even play anything complicated. Even though people say Zach is probably the worst member of the band, I feel as if he is the best addition to the band. Ever since he joined their music took a different direction and it became more enjoyable to listen to, because his style is much different than any of the guitarists before him. In 2015 I wish they would stop using that pick slide in their songs, because it doesn't fit the music, but whatever. At least the songs don't sound like generic riff rad anymore. And as for Tim and his voice, I can't really fault the man for his less than stellar vocals compared to back then. But he's trying and he still writes amazing lyrics. You can't be a kid forever.
Yeah, a lot of bands loose that energy when they start playing on big stages. If you compare some big Rise Against's concerts with older ones you can see that Tim's isn't comfortable playing. That's why bands like 88 Fingers Louie still having energy, they refused to play on big stages and keep their roots, playing on crapy locals. But well, there's no turning back though, now they're one of the most influenciable punk rock band so it's too late to return to their old times...
Zach singlehandedly ruined hundreds of songs by literally missing simple riffs, and missing ALL the solos at least in the first 5years since he was there. I was still following them back then and going to gigs although I am not sure if thats the case now. On his energy level, its fine, but actually they don't need that since they have Tim. Thats why I think a guitarist with a bit of energy like Todd, or even low one like Chris fits RA best. But who are we to tell :)
Its a pitty they joined the mainstram pop instead keeping play their own style. If I would have one wish I would have been Part of one of this old Gigs
They played a bunch of old songs during the Black Market tour and yeah, no one but a few people knew the words. It was pretty still for Last Chance Blueprints, Reception Fades, Alive and We'll. At least Like the Angel and Blood Red White and Blue still make people mosh.
Love this fucking kick ass song, melodic and fast
You're the new revolution
The angst-filled adolescent
You fit the stereotype well
I love, so epic
This is what Rise Against shows should be like.
I'd give my soul to the devil only to be on that concert!
Man they need to do a solely hardcore live show. This shit is raw.
if this song "every time you play has a different new meaning in your head" - why not playing it live again huh?!?!
Because the radio "fans" will stand there doing nothing.
They are not that band anymore...
Damn I saw them Sept 2018 in Nashville and it was a great show but these smaller venues are so much better. True punk show here.

Why can I not stop thinking of Blink every time they tell him to tell his pants off?
