@@GubbiGap My fav is when there is a sudden mono black Phage the Untouchable EDH that wins consistently by turn 7-12 depending on if you muliganned a bad start or not that occasionally wins by turn 5 with surprised looks on the opponents faces as no one expected a mono black Phage the Untouchable deck to be that fast. They expect it less if it is a stax deck to begin with but you chose to play it like not a stax deck then you reveal to them that almost all the cards in your deck are double modal so you could literally play it like a hard core control or high power casual deck. By the way that Phage deck was a hybrid of a Control and Storm deck together two very polar opposite architypes mixed together otherwise it could not have sat at the competitive table if it did not mix control and had a more so emphathis on the control part as just about at any time you could just storm but it would go nowhere so you just hold off on storming till you get a pay out such as Aetherflux as a example. And you better bet if it is a mono black deck someone will put K'rrik in it as he is just too good to pass up with the side effect of turning all your decks into storm
The higher power a control deck is the less it matters on how fast it can consistently win but this mostly applies to competitive control decks as in competitive all prison decks are actually very weak as there is always that one person that somehow manages to avoid being locked down and then just wins thanks to you the prison warden
The things you can see in competitive magic that would leave even competitive EDH players bewildered as most players an't brewers. Rule of thumb if you see something and don't think or know how it would ever work in a actual competitive game assume it is a control deck as odds are they usually are, and control decks tend to do the most bizarre things you would never think of in a very high powered game. Example Mono Red Superfriends as if you are playing a power level 9 or 10 and someone says they bring that then they are definitely playing a control deck of some kind and can probably turn all your stuff into lands to MLD and even pretty consistently. Never doubt brewers to blow away or shatter your expectations with the next thing you know you are playing against a literal Chaos deck on a Competitive level and somehow losing to the Chaos player
I swear you never truly known insanity unless you seen a Competitive Chaos deck in EDH and prey to god no one flashes in a Scrambleverse by popping a land that gives all your stuff flash literally as a in response to you going for the win. It don't even have to be a Chaos deck as if you are going for the win and someone flashes in a Scrambleverse that is the most blind sided and salt inducing thing that could ever happen, who would expect a sudden Scrambleverse? Not Najeela players that's for sure as in response to going into the battle phase is a big nope and you better hope someone else did not get that winning combo or you that could flashback Scrambleverse by playing a card that gives your stuff flashback
Scrambleverse is a wild card to try and save yourself with as it could also fail and that person keeps their creature and still wins the game as the players the non land permanents go to are chosen at random for EACH permanent. It is a chaos card after all which makes for the perfect Hail Mary if it works lol

      @@Hyunkel33, I 100% agree.
One of my favorite memories is when playing with some of my friends and I pulled out a deck that I haven’t played in the group for a long time and one of the players hasn’t seen my deck.
The deck had roughly 2 1/2 ways to win and a handful of ways to get there (I don’t have enough copies of the cards to make it consistent enough so multiple variations of the same ability and completely different methods to get to the same place are there).
A little into the game the player who hasn’t seen the deck commented that he had no idea my deck was. At that point I was set to start feeding into whatever endgame card I drew or maintain my board and set up to be stronger for when one of the cards came (or just start working on killing people with my set up). It was so satisfying to tell him that he’s looking at what the deck does and should be asking what the final piece is. Well that and the confused face he gave combined with the worry from those that knew my deck.

The paradox is that without winning or losing there would be no point playing. However, just winning because you copy other people's decks doesn't feel like YOU won, more like you were following instructions.
It is basically impossible to build a top class deck that is exclusively your personal design, which wasn't already done better by someone else. But the argument is certainly there that having a deck you call your own is half the point. Sometimes you just want to express yourself.

Combo is Krenko, Helm of Hosts, Brudiclad, Breath of Fury, Parallel Lives and for added fun, Deceiver of Form. Think the most krenkos I had at once was 20ish before the tapping to create the gobbo tokens. Deceiver activated and I revealed a sliver that gave other slivers +2/+2 and we agreed that army was more than enough to finish everybody off but the flavor imagery was great as I was facing a white deck with Thalia who mentions how Krenko needs to be dealt with before he gets out of hand

The intro reminds me of a 7 card combo I noticed in Scars of Mirrodin block to hit with a 10/9 infect goblin on turn 1 with Chancellor of the Forge, Tainted strike, a swamp, and 4 copies of mutagenic growth. I still kind of regret never even trying it. It isn't as cool as an 8 card combo, but I always thought it was a neat theoretical combo.

It reminds me of when me, my brother and our two best childhood friends played. Me and one friend only wanted to have fun and screwed up the game with wacky nonsense while my brother and his friend only cared about winning. Well guess who quit playing, and only collects now? What I'm assuming is happening in the video is that Decksperado is literally attempting to equip all the pieces to different creature instead of activating Helm of Kaldra's ability. Why? Well, he is the Decksperado after all. But he should feel so sad; he can still keep pumping out Kaldra tokens every time he has a mana available.
