I had hoped to expand on the film with a trip to Holland with the Dutch gentleman, but his health wouldn't permit it. The goal was to find his old house, and have him show me where some Dutch people helped and hid Jewish people during the occupation. Thx for commenting!

I lived in Rotterdam and was fifteen years old during that 1944 winter and vividly remember those B17 s flying that low and dropping the food that saved me and my family from starvation. So thank you to all who participated in these " chow runs"

If you want to read more about the Dutch Hunger winter, I highly recommend the book, Hunger Winter: A WWII Novel. It has lots of good history and it's an engaging read. It's endorsed by the Corrie ten Boom Foundation, who runs a WWII museum in the Netherlands.

My family lived in the south and they were safe during the Hunger Winter, but I don't think there is any Dutch person who does not feel gratitude for these men who saved half our nation from starvation.
