      I ask myself that every time I watch them. At first it was like "raising fish" sounded neat as I've had large aquariums. But now I have absolutely no excuse other than the videos are just simply entertaining. I think it has to do with how happy you are. I'd probably watch you do anything. (But please don't take that as a challenge!)

    I just recently started watching you and I love your channel! I am going vegetarian because I recently watched a documentary on things like processing meat and the killing of animals cruelly. It was a bit hard for me to watch but when I sated looking at it I kind of found pleasure. The reason why is, you raise and farm you chickens and other animals. You do kill your chickens but you eat and cook it. You don't send it to plants or give the animals steroids and such. I just want to say thank you. You really opened my eyes that people do live like this and I thank everyone that lives just like this and doesn't cruelly get their food and such. So thank you. So much. I will always support this channel!

    • @lifeinthailand
      @lifeinthailand  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Lydia “Candy” W. Thank you, As you probably know most people have no idea where there comes from and how it is produced, I think that is a mistake. If everyone knew what they were actually eating there would be a lot more vegetarians.

    Great that none of the chicken you butcher goes to waste and that you grew the entire meal yourself! So fresh and no mystery chemicals and preservatives in that meal. Awesome! Love your dog, so well behaved and cute too. My Labs would drool all over my plate, lol. My chickens laid one of those shell-less eggs once, It was pretty neat to find it in the nest box. Stay cool!

    • @lifeinthailand
      @lifeinthailand  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Shadow of Juniper Hill I get the shell less eggs some times, Mostly from one of the ducks, This was a little different, The skin was much thicker. I try hard to stay away from processed food, Sometimes fall off the wagon.

    When I was a kid, mom boiled the egg sac and made noodles, we couldn't get enough of gizzard and heart, hated the fried liver. Mom always boiled gizzard. Our grandma worked in a chicken processing place, just small. Back then wings, gizzard, liver and heart, were not to sell. We got them free. Yummy!

    • @lifeinthailand
      @lifeinthailand  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like all the bits and pieces, it is always the first part I cook after butchering birds, I give away a lot of birds but never the heart, liver and gizzard.

  • @percaine
    @percaine 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used to work for a poultry company in their chicken division, I took care of a breeder barn with 7000 laying hens and probably 6-700 roosters.. I gathered 6000 eggs a day by hand and found at least one of those eggs with no shell daily..Amazingly enough the chicken can lay an egg with no shell without breaking it just as easily if not easier than one with a shell.

    • @lifeinthailand
      @lifeinthailand  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +percaine I get them some times, Had a duck that only laid shell less eggs, That is not a good thing.

    • @percaine
      @percaine 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** definitely not a good thing..we tossed any egg that wasn't able to be hatched..they didn't go to waste though, they were made into mink feed.

    I envy your life style. One day when I'm done raising my children, my wife and I will get the opportunity to move to a place where we can life life without the hustling and bustling from the city. Away from everyone and everything, a place where humans works with nature and what it has to offer not against it. That's our dream and we know every day that passes by it's a day that takes us closer to our promise land. Thank you for opening a small window into a life style that has been forgotten and only the truly free gets to live.

    At my farm, we call those eggs without shells ghost eggs, I find them pretty fun to play around with in your hands. We have just over 600 laying hens, so odd looking eggs are quite normal. My favorite are the giant double yolked eggs.

    • @lifeinthailand
      @lifeinthailand  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Heith Gagnon All chickens are born with every egg they well every lay so there are still lots in there, Most are very small like fish eggs and they get bigger as they work there way down the line, I butchered 15 birds and got a lot of yokes.

    You can always tell a person by the actions of their animals. Your dog was the best I've seen around food. Mine on the other hand would have been in that plate looking like "The Bumpuses Dogs" eating the Christmas turkey, lol but your dog just sat there and watched as you ate and shared it with him, I'm impressed. We just finished some soup with hearts, liver and gizzards and it was really good. You had a great breakfast, yum.

    Yep, even the Zorikua(blood)is eatened here, and as always spiced up with lotsa red hot chili peppers, either chile de arbol or the serrano peppers, lol! Never had egg yolks before but their color is very beautiful and indicative they're organic and farm fresh, like how well trained you have your dog, when you said "Don't smell my food", obeyed, if it was a neighbor of mine's dog, that mutt would've slobbered all over your plate, and if it was on something probably knockin' it over and breaking the plate! Uprated, to your health my buddy! :)

    • @lifeinthailand
      @lifeinthailand  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Joe Serrano The blood is eaten here as well, Not so much chicken but you can buy pork blood and blood cake (kind of like blood pudding) is used in soups a lot. Easy to tell a good egg from a production farm egg, The yoke is so much better.

  • @JonMalacca
    @JonMalacca 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Awesome vintage meal :) Those premature yolk only eggs are really tasty but hard to find nowadays unless you butcher your own chicken. Back in the day butchers used to leave them inside the chicken cavity and it's considered a treat if you get it :)

    • @lifeinthailand
      @lifeinthailand  8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like to cook hearts, livers and gizzards after lightly flouring them seasoned with salt and pepper. Don't over cook any but especially the gizzards or they will be tough.
    My favorite is the heart, makes me want to try beef heart.
    S.E. U.S. recipe.

    • @lifeinthailand
      @lifeinthailand  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree over cooked is no good unless you cook them on very low heat for a long time, Beef heart is good, I like it cut real thin and grilled over charcoal or baked in the oven.
