I tested it for a few minutes and I just find it to be generic tbh. It's not bad, it's pretty good for the price actually but it's a bit boring for me (even though I do like the tuning).
Hello, Andy. Another amazing video! I've been thinking about getting the Truthear Red(with TRI Clarion eartips). What are your thoughts about it, please?
Thanks. Between Red and NOVA, I prefer the NOVA a bit more. But really can't go wrong with either one as Truthear seems to know how to tune IEMs properly
Thank you mister Andy, people from negeri jiran saya, Im from Indonesian, i think we 're have similiar taste...its start when you review DAC, especially Truthear SHIO...so keep review although its hard to get viewer, just do it as spirit...I love this blue black IEM, so i just need pros argument, next i will buy if i have money
Hi Andy love ur reviews, thank u for providing such a detailed comparison for audio gear by considering all the aspects, the way you categorise all the features and comparison chart u provide is the most unique and greatest feature of ur videos.I have been watching ur videos for the last 3 days and also I ordered today ur favourite tanchjim zero. Now I need your advice again,I am confused between Ibasso dco4 pro, Fiio btr15 & Fiio ka13 please help
If you have the budget for BTR15, then go for BTR15. The versatility of BTR15 is like having DC04Pro with more options and I am using BTR15 more nowadays - so naturally I will recommend what I use the most
Thank u very much Just one more thing does btr15 sound same or similar to dc04 pro and what score would you give to btr15 as compared to score of 90 for dco4pro.I didn't found any video where you compared btr15 with other non Bluetooth dongles
Thanks, Hexa has been released for quite a while and while I have listened to it, use it, I will not be doing review on it. I can only say that Nova is a thoroughbred SubBass dominant Harman IEM and perhaps the very few Harman tuned stuffs that I actually like, while the Hexa is like a less Midcentic B2, and I would probably rate Hexa similarly with Nova despite offering different tuning flavors
hey andy thanks for the review, how does it compare with the tanchjim zero? i want to try a different sound that is not harman. thinking of getting the zero.
@@andreslopez9592 I think everyone knows I always pick Tanchjim ZERO over everything else for IEMs under $100. That is a very personal thing as I prefer Zero tuning and I am not a Harman sound fan. The other IEMs that I will use more over Zero are SIVGA Nightingale, Final Audio A5000 and Hidizs MP145
There are so many conflicting reviews for the nova's, some say its bass heavy and some say that there isn't enough and that it isn't for bassheads. I for one love the zero's and i'm looking to upgrade, so i'm gonna go with this review and try them. I just hope that my ear is shaped for the bass.
It depends on your perspective, for someone who set the reference to Diffused Field Neutral or Neutral, then Nova is Bass heavy. But if you are attuned to the trendy V Sound curve with Bass emphasis, then Nova might even appear as not as bassy as some of the other options. When you spend so much time listening to neutral headphones like Sennheiser HD600 or AKG K701 or flat neutral IEMs like Kinera Idun Golden/Etymotic ER4 series, NOVA is WAY too bassy hahaha
it really depends on the reviewers taste...its very subjective, if one prefers neutral sound in general then he/she will find anything slightly bass boosted too warm
Thanks for the review, Andy! It was quite detailed and informative! I got the Nova earbuds expecting to hear something more interesting and engaging. Currently I have Sivga Nightingale - which is my favourite - and Simgot EA 500LM - which is a bit brighter, than I can bear. So, Nova - is ok, but nothing special, it's not interesting and a bassy. I am slightly frustrated and going to sell it. Could you please recommend me something more musical and warm (maybe Hidizs MP145)? BTW, I bought Sivga Nightingale following your recommendation and was completely satisfied with them, but I want to try something different - more musical and with a broader scene.
Nightingale is the total opposite of the Harman tuned NOVA so I can understand your sentiment on this one. If there's anything that I would highly recommend now, it will be DUNU Titan S2 for anything under $100 or LETSHUOER S12 2024 limited edition for over $200, both IEMs I use regularly and loved as much as I love my Nightingale. Cheers
great! Thanks for your prompt response and advice, Andy! Then I go for LETSHOUER!! Since we have pretty much similar sound & music tastes, I’m very sure it would be the right choice! Cheers;)
Cheapest and best? assuming that $50 range is cheap enough, Moondrop DAWN Pro/AKLIAM PD4 PLus/EPZ TP20 are what I would recommend, but need 4.4mm BAL cable for the MP145 to get 100% power from them
Andy, you have any information about when lindsell will release the timeless 2? All I can find is that it was pulled back due to tuning issues but the reviewers that I saw that had them early absolutely love the tuning so I'm just curious. I'm a nobody I can't find any information you are Andy you are the god of the IEM dongle world we all bow to your mastery.
Lol, I am totally as clueless as you are and rarely connected to what's going on the audio scene. I don't even know there's a plan for Timeless 2, but now I do, thanks to you 😁😂
I use Truthear Zero. Will I feel better if I take Truthear Nova or Simgot EM6L? Which iem model do you use for games? I also want to relieve the tiredness of the day by listening to music.
For gaming, really the EM6L offer a bit more of holographic imaging (suitable for FPS Gaming), but Nova is less likely to be fatiguing and smoother. I would still probably pick Nova as it sounded more balanced to me. Both truthfully are already great sounding
Hey Andy I saw in one of your videos from last year that iPhones aren’t the best for dongles because they don’t support usb 3.0. Will my iPhone 15 pro that now supports usb 3.0 work with something like the ibasso dc04pro?
To me Kato is an even Bassier unit than Nova, Kato has more prominence with Subbass presence and authority, so if you love big Bass, you will probably like Kato more. Nova to my ears is already Bass heavy from neutral sound perspective, but it has better balance between Subbass and Midbass while Kato is a thoroughbred Bass Heavy Harman
Normally when I have enough number of IEMs reviewed, I will do a compilation tier list like the ones I did in this 2023 closure video: th-cam.com/video/scAOIoymYic/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qBZTvl0QaNTtNYp0 The list is in the description of that video. I did similarly for 2022. Thanks

I don't like Harman.. I like a little more mid bass, drop into the sub bass, no emphasis, with a glide into the mids, slow rise into the pinna, then flat to 12k, with a dip at 5k, and a normal downward slope from 12k, and a couple small peaks like around 16 and 20

@@AndyAudioVault I used foam tips yesterday for the first time and experienced what you described. They really cleaned up the sound and the isolation is really nice. Thanks
That's on the assumption if everyone have same taste and preferences. Different tuning cater for different taste, MP145 is not Harman, so can be said that people who enjoy Harman tuning will be hard pressed to appreciate it

Tanchjim ZERO is like $9, just buy it and even if you don't like it, it will not hurt you like what you would spend on all other IEMs. I don't know about RE400 so I can't say

When I listen my favourite songs then I want that the instruments sound should revolve around my head and I want to feel them so that I just forget about anything else… can A 5000 can give that feel of music. I hope you understand me.
Andy because you praised Tanchjim zero a lot that’s why I bought them and I am so thankful to you for introducing me to this beautiful sounding iem. I am also in love with these :)
i feel like the nova is very anemic in bass and has no airy treble, the shell is large and would not fit small ears. it is detailed and engaging but for music its not much better than aria i feel...
I couldnt disagree more, respectfully. The bass slams and the treble region has some air to it. It takes EQ better than any IEM I have. You can basically tune it to any sound you like using an EQ.
Hello Andy, thanks a lot for this great review. These are too bass heavy for me, but your review helped me a lot to classify these IEMs.
