Thanks Mike. I still go back to your videos for help. I have a brand new galaxy dx2547 that the freq counter is not reading true. I'm transmitting on 27.3651 and the guys are having to tune me in at 27.3647. now I can set it up correctly. Hope your well.
Mike...just love your channel. Been in all things CB legal and illegal. Someone said you should be a ham. But Ham (to me) is not any fun. Most of those are smart ass, know it alls. There the ones who repair and screw up CB radio and I know you have seen. In my 40 years of radio I only met maybe 10 people who were honest and took pride in their work. The rest are just quick fix "shade tree technicians". Brian, Adelsheim Germany
I'm watching and listening, Mike! Back in the '80's I found a CB'r who new a little about this stuff. Once in a while I went over to this place and he would have a Cobra 148 GTL with the cover open. It got me a little interested in radio electronics I suppose I could caal it here in TH-cam? But hard to really understand, let alone designing a CB radio! Great videos!
Hi Mike, I just saw your video on the President McKimney clairfier adj/mod, could i contact you about purchase ify ou do that stuff too? I'm getting back into it after 45 years .Thanks, Stan
Great explanation. Wondering if you could make a video about WHERE to solder leads of a generic frequency counter on a radio circuit board, before/after RF coils, etc.. Thanks a bunch.
Hi Mike, one question, where in the heck can I buy a set of ceramic tip tuning tools. Mine from my 20 years in commercial two-way repair are worn out, chips from being dropped mostly or they are loose in the handle. I have searched high and low and all I can find are the worthless soft plastic TV type tools that the tip twists off of the first time I try to move a slug that hasn't moved in twenty years. I am down to my last two good tuning tools and getting desperate.Help!
Howdy Mike, that 5 1/2 digit reminds me of an old trick question. How far can a dog chase a rabbit into the woods? .........Half way, then the dog is chasing the rabbit out of the woods.
For all of you out here in TH-cam land seeking to *take* your radios to Mike for repair... even though he does not do walk-ins, here is directions... (Don't be mad at me Mike). Go to the North Pole (please don't bother Santa). Now, head Due South. That is all the directions I have at this time.
Watch it. You are educating those folk with magic screwdrivers. (If they ever wise up, they will get one of them SPMS -- Self Propelled Magic Screwdrivers.

Hi mike I got a rci 2990 like new but I believe it needs new cap. U interested in doing it
An half-digit means that the left most digit can only be 0 or 1. For instance 3½ digit can count up to 1999.

Sounds like you need to do a alignment to the radio.

So the half digit meter rounds up or down at the .5 point.
You still repairing radios??

The drifting explains why the counter only does 5 digits. A 6th digit would be jumping around so much it would make one dizzy.
There's not enough features and unusual accessories in the world to make that Ranger a good radio. Just a pretty piece of junk in my opinion.
bmh67wa you have no idea what you’re talking about.
