I love mine and yes the zoom is beyond amazing. The one major drawback is the video is in .MOV file format. which means it won't work with Windows movie maker. You have to buy conversion software. JVC did that a few years ago with some of their camcorders and it didn't go over well. The zoom is a bit slugish and doesn't auto focus while zooming. But after you get to the limit of the lens zoom you can keep going with digital zoom and it's very high quality unlike a lot of cheaper camers.
