    ...and paint your shop red.
    Or neon green.
But if you do that you must have top notch service and expertise because the bright color will stick in their minds and they'll associate it with good or bad experiences.

Great advice! That’s how my dad showed me the auto business by being honest, not blowing customers off, being fair an upfront with costs. I’m prospecting an established tire shop here locally where I live that’s been up an running for 5 years. They run another shop but cannot maintain two locations so they’re selling one. The area is starting to grow an not much competition in the area. I know social media marketing, plus I have other avenues of getting contracts for fleet services. I love the car industry an have a passion for helping others and being honest an serving others.

    Also:
Know your competition and don't talk bad about them.
Know or learn about economics, huge difference between opening a business because you know how to do the work and knowing how to run an actual business.
Lastly and very important. Stick to your FK'n pricing! You're going to have good days and bad weeks/months. It will be tempting to give a customer a deal (dropping labor) because you haven't had a customer in days. Don't do that. You do that, you start a cycle. At the end of the month you'll be exhausted, break even economically, nothing to show for your work. You won't last, you close up and leave all those customers mal accustomed to low prices in your area. In other words, you're killing the business after you killed yours.

I don't understand people these days. My family has been in business for over 40 years. I fail to understand how shops still charge $8-$15 for a flat repair in 2023. I'd understand if machines cost $3000 like they did in the 80's, but now machines are more sophisticated and cost around $13000, not including air guns, compressor and shop jacks. Tire shops are averaging anywhere between $15,000-$18,000 (in my case) just in equipment to do a simple flat repair. That's not including the physical labor and skill to know how to operate the machines properly to not damage customer wheels and the machine itself. I charge $25 for a repair on a Tesla with foam inside, inside patch and reattach the foam padding properly. People still bitch that I'm expensive, Oh!! then they still want the tire computer balanced as well.
