  • A little tutorial showing how I would make a no sew journal from a vintage book. This is super easy and a great way for a beginner to start making journals. I'm sure there are many methods, this is just my approach to it.
In this video we prepare the pages and decorate the cover.
I have been using a journal like this for my Margarete Miller 5 prompt challenge.
    My playlist for that challenge:

Thank you so much for watching!

Your idea about retaining the little inside strip of each page you tear is a good one. I tried using a book and tore the pages all the way out and the book fell apart. I had weakened the structure of the binding. Your idea is genius. I hope you and yours stay safe in the midst of this pandemic.

Such a lot of work! If the book has signatures, you can find the threads in the middle of each one and pull off the double page - removing as many as you want from the middle of each sig. Clear as mud, right? But that way there is no ripping and gluing until you are ready to decorate. Always enjoy your work and chats, Rachel.

RACHEL, pay no mind to the people who don't like it that you aren't organized, and or change your mind. You are an extremely talented and creative person, your finished projects are beautiful, and i think your adaptability is amazing. I do not need every minute filled with fascinating, speedy, well-thought out content. I enjoy watching you work and hearing you chat, interspersed with discussions with Lulu. I just spent an hour with my Australian friend, who is living in Italy with her Italian husband and young adult daughter. It has now been a year that we have been dealing with COVID-19, so I want to wish you, your family and friends good health, safety and continued good life. Alice in SC USA.

I set up a Gina “ Rebookery” journal too. I did it in a fantastic book which I couldn’t tear pages out of and I still need to make a cover for it, yay. Love what you have done here. Thanks for bringing back more fabrics and stitching etc. Love it.🌹🥀🌝

Did you hear me when you trying to decide which piece to put on the cover . I was saying you had to use your moms because it is your moms and because it is gorgeous 😊. Thank you so much for sharing with us ! Please be safe 🙏🏻😊❤️

You tell em sister. Who wants not to be able to change your mind?? Not me. I’m always changing my mind and I do get disorganized 😕 but hey that just proves I’m using my materials on various projects.

I love making altered book journals but I usually do the pockets, tucks etc… I haven’t ever done one like Jessie’s. I love your cover, really lovely! 🌷🌸🌷

Had to laugh at myself a bit. Hearing Lulu in the background I convinced myself it was my son shouting from his room or my neighbours son. Took me 30mins to realise even though you spoke about her being on a call :-D (watched video in two sessions)
