What a great video. I am saving this for when I become an experienced bee keeper. Queens would be fun to raise.
The one marked in Green is a beauty
She was from a swarm I caught. I had her 3 years and she was very productive each season. I actually raised half my bee yard from her genetics.

Jason Chrisman Yeah me too. I need to build a bunch of new additional equipment this winter, I didn't have enough to be worth tackling heavy queen production this year. I used everything I had making walk away splits and didn't have much use for making a bunch of grafted queens.
Man I sure do like those Cordovan looking Queens,or at least light blonde Queens I call em,I have about 8 of them and all of them brood Soo hard, I love em

THIS is what I want to get into once I figure out what I am doing with my bees in general. How many hives would you recommend having to be able to support the raising of queens with mating nucs? Great video, and very concise! Looks like a fair amount of editing too, hehe!
The number of hives really depends on how bug of an operation you want. I think you could sell 20-50 queens a season with maybe 10 active colonies and that's not pushing them very hard either.
I got lucky on the most of the editing, the Google Photo app on my phone put a bunch of these clips together for me into little movies. All I had to do was save them all season and then put all the movies together then add the captions. Done! lol
Hey Jason.. How much monitoring/trust do you have to put into the incubator to maintain 93 to 95 degrees? Also which incubator have you had the most success with consistent accurate temps? Thanks
This video shows a hobivator incubator. I just bought one for this and chicken eggs and as far as i can tell it keeps temp between 2 to 3 degrees Fahrenheit. I've read that queen cells need to stay between 92 to 95. So, it should work...and it appears from the video it does.
One great thing also is that the mann lake cell bars exactly fit into the styrofoam of the hobivator... It's almost like they made the two to go together.

I use my incubator for chicken/duck eggs plus to finish queen cells and it's always done a great job. Sure there may a few dud's but I can't say that is due to the incubator, that could be due to a previous stage in development.

Where do you buy those mini mating boxes?
The styrofoam boxes are from Mann Lake, the wooden ones I made.

How do you like the mini mating nucs?
I like them. The only issue is to make sure you keep an eye on them or they will swarm. They build up very fast once the queen is mated.
