I hope you don’t mind but I loved this recipe so much I had to try making it. I typed up a guide for myself to follow and I was hoping it might help others too! ^^ (Unfortunately the recipe is only in English as I don’t know any other languages to translate it into but if someone can then that would be lovely!) Transcript/Adjusted Recipe Ingredients: - Spices (approx 1 tsp? Idk eyeball it): coriander, salt, black and white pepper, nutmeg, Laurier (bay leaf), Rosemary, Cumin - Fresh herbs: Rosemary and bay leaf - 4 Chicken Thighs, prepared and coated in coriander and salt - Brown onion, roughly chopped - Carrots, chopped - Potatoes, chopped - Broccoli, chopped - Cheese of choice (tasty, eternal or mozzarella) - White Sauce (prepare before searing chicken) approx 2 cups of mix? (See below for white sauce recipe) Method: - pan sear the chicken until golden brown and crispy - Add it to the chopped veggies in a pot - Add water/vegetable or chicken stock until all ingredients are covered - Add fresh sprig of Rosemary and Bay leaf and cover pot with lid - Put pot on Med-high heat to simmer - Sprinkle in coriander, nutmeg and white pepper - After simmering for approx 20 min, add (vid says 200ml of milk, however, if 1 part is stock and the vid has it as 600mil then milk to broth ratio is 1:3) 1 third of your volume milk and stir - Bring that to a boil, Cut some cheese and add that to your broth - Remove Rosemary and Bay leaves - Add white sauce and stir - When white sauce is incorporated, and approx 10 min before serving, add broccoli - Let simmer for ~10 min and serve with a side of cheesy garlic bread - Enjoy! White Sauce: As I don’t have pre-packeted white sauce (like in the video) where I’m from I’ve included a white sauce recipe here that I use as a substitute. You can make this while your stew is simmering on the heat, it doesn’t take too long to make. Ingredients: - Whole Milk (2 cups) - Corn flour (2 tablespoons) - butter* (2 tablespoons) - Copious amounts of Parmesan Cheese - Cream cheese (2 heaped tablespoons) - Salt and pepper to taste Method: - melt your butter in your pan - Take off the pan from the heat and whisk in the flour to make a roux/slurry - Whisk in your milk to the pan and return to the heat, stirring continuously - When that thickens to the point it is able to lightly coat the back of a metal spoon, add your cream cheese and Parmesan (or any other cheese of your choice) and stir until combined - Taste to see if it needs any more cheese or seasoning - Once satisfied remove from the heat to use in the stew, or for any other thing that needs white sauce. White sauce notes: The key thing to remember is the ratio of the base ingredients: 1:1:1. 1 cup of milk to 1 tablespoon of butter to 1 tablespoon of corn flour/starch. This recipe can be scaled up or down as you need. It also makes a great sauce for lasagne, baked cheesy vegetables or even just as a topping sauce for your meat and three veg dinners! *butter can be salted or un-salted Recipe Notes: this is great basic recipe, more veg can be added and adjusted for your pleasure! I recommend adding mushrooms that have been seared on high heat for a smooth mushroom-y vibe.
If you want to try this then you can replace the mysterious dry white sauce packet with a little bit of butter, flour, and dried milk. You should also add the milk later in the cooking process. Weird stuff happens to milk if you cook it for too long. Also, this might not be enough salt for some people.
Also you don't need milk power, the flour and butter are enough, but you have to cooked apart, by melting the butter and puting the same amounts of flour and butter, mix until convined, and add the milk to that paste, once its disolved, put that bechamel back to the stew, but this have to be in the last stage, so put your broccoli before the bechamel, and the cheese as the last one ingredient. c: Why you have to put the bechamel at the end? Cz if you let it be on heat it gets thicker and thicker and thicker, until its a weird sort of pastry :s xd
My dad is REALLY good at coming up with recipes, so I had him help me come up with a recipe for this video. It turned out AMAZINGLY! I decided to share the recipe with everyone else. Here it is: Creamy Veggie Stew Recipe Ingredients: 2 t - Ground Coriander ⅛ t - Freshly Ground Nutmeg ¼ t - White Pepper 1½ t - Salt; Divided ½ t - Dried, Ground Rosemary Leaves 1 - Onion; Chopped 2 - Medium Potatoes; Peeled, Chopped 2 - Carrots; Peeled, Chopped 3 - Boneless, Skinless Chicken Thighs OR ¾ lb - Chuch Roast, Cubed 4 c - Chicken Broth 1 Sprig - Fresh Rosemary 2 - Bay Leaves 1½ c - Milk ¾ c - Cubed Swiss Cheese 2 T - Sweet Rice Flour ½ c - Water 1 c - Broccoli Florets Oil for frying Directions: Mix together coriander, nutmeg, and white pepper. Set aside. Sprinkle meat with dried rosemary and 1 t salt. Add oil to a skillet and heat over high heat. Add meat to skillet and fry until brown. Add potatoes, carrots, onion, meat, meat drippings, chicken broth, rosemary, and bay leaves to a large stockpot. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer until veggies are tender; about 30 minutes. Stir in milk, broccoli florets, and spice mixture. Add cheese on top and cook until cheese is melted. Mix together flour and water until it forms a paste. Add slurry to pot along with remaining ½ t salt. Stir until combined. Enjoy! I used beef because I don't like chicken, and it was great. Make sure you get a REALLY dark char on the meat. I didn't do the same toast. I made my family's garlic toast instead. Here’s what I did: For the garlic toast, butter a slice of toast of your choosing and sprinkle it with grated parmesan and some garlic salt. You can use minced garlic and salt it, if you'd prefer that. Pop it in the oven and broil it on high for a few minutes until the cheese melts and is a light golden-brown color. Keep an eye on it as it's done FAST! I leave the door open a bit on the oven because it helps with not burning the toast. My whole family LOVED it when I made it last week! I hope you enjoy it as well!
I was not expecting this... I was thinking, "Ou! cottagecore style kitchen cooking show," nope, full on outdoor survivalist person cooking up a ghibli movie meal, and honestly I am here for it,

For my western comrades without access to the white sauce powder (which is really just powdered béchamel)-instead of adding milk to this, create a béchamel sauce separately, add it in and stir vigorously until combined, it gives the same effect!
For English speakers: The title says Ghibli rice because word rice can sometimes mean a meal in Japanese, so it was supposed to be ghibli meal, but because of the bad translation, it says Ghibli rice. So do not panic and scream and cry out loud if you didn’t see any rice in the video.

came for ghibli but subbed for the cheese, that block took me out edit: so did "joyous delicious laughter" in the subtitles cus i felt that noise when he made it
Okay but can anyone else agree with me that this also has a Breath of the wild vibe to it, since the game seems to be heavily inspired by studio ghibli 👀 Btw the food looks absolutely unreal 💜 looks like it just came out of the movies!

White Sauce:
As I don’t have pre-packeted white sauce (like in the video) where I’m from I’ve included a white sauce recipe here that I use as a substitute. You can make this while your stew is simmering on the heat, it doesn’t take too long to make.
Ingredients:
- Whole Milk (2 cups)
- Corn flour (2 tablespoons)
- butter* (2 tablespoons)
- Copious amounts of Parmesan Cheese
- Cream cheese (2 heaped tablespoons)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Method:
- melt your butter in your pan
- Take off the pan from the heat and whisk in the flour to make a roux/slurry
- Whisk in your milk to the pan and return to the heat, stirring continuously
- When that thickens to the point it is able to lightly coat the back of a metal spoon, add your cream cheese and Parmesan (or any other cheese of your choice) and stir until combined
- Taste to see if it needs any more cheese or seasoning
- Once satisfied remove from the heat to use in the stew, or for any other thing that needs white sauce.
White sauce notes:
The key thing to remember is the ratio of the base ingredients: 1:1:1. 1 cup of milk to 1 tablespoon of butter to 1 tablespoon of corn flour/starch. This recipe can be scaled up or down as you need.
It also makes a great sauce for lasagne, baked cheesy vegetables or even just as a topping sauce for your meat and three veg dinners!
*butter can be salted or un-salted
Recipe Notes: this is great basic recipe, more veg can be added and adjusted for your pleasure! I recommend adding mushrooms that have been seared on high heat for a smooth mushroom-y vibe.
Thank you so much for the recipe, I've been also trying to recreate this dish, but didn't get it right. So your recipe is much appreciated :)
thanks
Thank you!!!! 💜

me: ok white sauce...
him: powder
me: 👁👄👁...roux?
You could also replace milk with cream since cream won't break as easy. That might get pricier though.
Yeah I think it's just a bechamel..
it curdles
Also you don't need milk power, the flour and butter are enough, but you have to cooked apart, by melting the butter and puting the same amounts of flour and butter, mix until convined, and add the milk to that paste, once its disolved, put that bechamel back to the stew, but this have to be in the last stage, so put your broccoli before the bechamel, and the cheese as the last one ingredient. c:

Think AP flour would work in place of rice flour?
@@TJ-xy5md I don't think so. If you don't have any Sweet Rice Flour, you could try using 2T of cornstarch mixed with 2T of cold water instead.
Damn, thank you for the recipe! I love to cook and I want to try it out for my channel!
Would it work if I used rice milk instead??
