    Very useful - I learned on a beach where the waves broke at waist height, so never learned to paddle in front. That is a note...if the water is shallow enough, jumping in front of the wave saves an awful lot of effort!

      Most boogie boards come with a leash so yeah all you need is a board, also people are saying you need the fins to swim further out. No, it might be easier if you dont know how to swim that well but for most people you should be able to swim past the waves normally.

      Serious: Fins ✅
      For fun: Fins ❌
      Fins are essential for people who do it as a sport.

  • @Sviolinist

    @fbmbirds Fins do help, but from my experience, it's the size of the wave and your position relative to said wave that makes all the difference. You end up attributing everything to the fins, but in reality, you have likely gotten better at positioning yourself to catch the wave. In all actuality, you don't have to be going all that fast to catch a wave. Sure, surfers have bigger boards, but they don't often use fins to propel themselves. Think about it a bit. Speed is only one factor.

    • @rodrigomincoff9890
      @rodrigomincoff9890 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right but surfers are on top of the board, so the whole body isnt drafting. Plus the can paddle UP with arma much easier

    Also check the water quality. Don’t go in the water near a river jetti! The run off has all kinds of dirty bacteria in it.

    U don't actually need a swimsuit thing btw. But If u don't and u only wearing shorts after your done u will notice a little rass on your stomach where your body was on the board but it will go away really quickly but it will sting a little

    You can also just keep your hands on the nose of the board and lean, steering with your elbows

    I'm confused by the hands and turning right and left...the video shows them doing one thing but when they say where to put hands it seems opposite.
