Mother India Story: जब मदर इंडिया के सेट पर Sunil Dutt ने Nargis को आग से बचाया (BBC Hindi)

- महबूब अपने कलाकारों के बीच दोस्ती को बहुत बढ़ावा देते थे ताकि उनके अभिनय में सहजता बरक़रार रहे. वो अक्सर आउटडोर शूटिंग किया करते थे ताकि उनके कलाकारों को एक साथ बिताने के लिए काफ़ी समय मिल जाए. नरगिस ने भी अपने दो सह अभिनेताओं सुनील दत्त और राजेंद्र कुमार के साथ काफ़ी समय बिताया. महबूब ने फ़िल्म के सिनेमेटोग्राफ़र फ़रदीन ईरानी को बाढ़ के शॉट लेने के लिए ख़ासतौर से उत्तर प्रदेश भेजा जहाँ उन दिनों बाढ़ आई हुई थी. फ़िल्म की अधिक्तर शूटिंग महाराष्ट्र और गुजरात में लोकेशन पर हुई. तभी एक ऐसी घटना हुई जिसने नरगिस को सुनील दत्त के बहुत करीब कर दिया. गुजरात में मदर इंडिया के मशहूर आग के सीन की शूटिंग हो रही थी. उसमें पुआल के एक ढ़ेर में आग लगाई जानी थी ताकि उसमें छिपे हुए सुनील दत्त बाहर आ सकें. टीजे एस जॉर्ज लिखते हैं, 'जब नरगिस जलते हुए पुआल के ढ़ेर के बीच दौड़ रही थी, हवा ने अचानक अपना रुख़ बदला और नरगिस आग की लपटों के घेरे के बीच फंस गईं. सुनील को जैसे ही इसका अंदाज़ा हुआ वो आग की लपटों के बीच दौड़ते हुए चले गए और बुरी तरह से घबराई नरगिस को आग की लपटों से बचा कर बाहर ले आए. इस प्रयास में सुनील दत्त खुद भी जल गए. सुनील दत्त के इस जीवट ने नरगिस के मन में उनके प्रति प्यार जगा दिया.' बाद में नरगिस ने अपनी डायरी में लिखा, 'अस्पताल में हमें पेथेडीन के इंजेक्शन दिए गए जिससे हमारा दर्द कम हो गया और हमें नींद आ गई. जब भी कोई मेरे पास आता मैं उससे यही पूछती सुनील कैसे हैं ? मैं जानती थी कि मुझसे ज़्यादा बेचैन सुनील थे. 2 मार्च को मैं उन्हें देखने उनके कमरे में गई. उनका चेहरा, पेट और हाथ सब जले हुए थे और वो काफ़ी तकलीफ़ में थे. मैं उनके साथ पूरे दिन रही. उसके बाद मैं उनकी इस तरह देखभाल करने लगी जैसे वो मेरा हिस्सा हैं. कुछ दिनों में हालात ऐसे हो गए कि मैं उनसे एक मिनट भी दूर नहीं रहना चाहती थी. ये मेरे जीवन के सबसे हसीन दिन थे.'

hue she wraps het sari aroind her waist and starts doing the household works with so much determination

I have watched so many indian movies but never saw such an unexpected scene
At the end when Nargis tell Sunil Dutt that gaon ki har ek ladki ki izzat us ki izzat hai meaning she considers every young girl of the village to he her own daughter and its hetlr duty to safeguard her honour

My childhood memories links with this film because seen of fire are done in village "zervavra" in surat distric of gujarat, which is 40km away from my house. Today in memory of this film one dam in surat distric called "mother india dam"
