I don’t know if anyone mentioned it yet, but the “shu cream” is from the French “Pate Choux” Which is a dough made on the stove, baked, then filled with cream. Great shows thanks, Ken

CHOUX is the pastry used for the standard cream puff, profiterole, or eclair etc. The cream used inside is a custard or chantilly cream.
I remember sometimes getting little toy cars on top of cans of coffee back when I was in Japan!!
I love how the train in the background is traveling super fast and super quiet.

It is a French term, the dough making the cream puff is Pate A Cheux it’s actually a cooked dough. And should be made fresh and not packaged. It should be slowly crispy on the outside and tender and better on the inside. Hope that helps, former pastry chef before my accident.

Lol....So during Memorial day weekend we watch all video's including your magic and puzzles so all caught now tee hee. I'm a US Navy veteran and have been to Japan and miss it very much. I believe the pastry is called shu cream because it is made with Choux pastry. You definitely need a pair of train socks to wear on your next trip. 🤣🛤

The tomato on the fish sandwich looks amazing! Red all the way through! In the US we get a red circle with crunchy white stuff in the middle! Are your tomatoes locally grown? At Subway in the US they exercise no discretion in putting a "white tomato" on a sandwich. I've tried asking for a red sliced of tomato but only get a blank stare.

Always fun! Thanks. Something you said stirred my mind. Japan's train culture. American capitalism is perhaps uniquely vicious. We once had an amazing train culture and public transport. Car manufacturers used their pull with local governments and the feds to destroy both public transport and trains for civilian transport. They survive along the East Coast...but were once everywhere.

Chou crème translated is cabbage cream, I know of chou à la crème, it's a common pastry that you can get in any French bakery.

I have some places that have the best fish burgers and others that are so-so but even though some are not the best I do get cravings once in a while for the so-so ones strange but it happens.
