Having taken a step away from the game for awhile and picked it back up in the middle of my arcanist characters story, this is a great refresher. Completely killed the overload my brain has been going through lol. Good stuff!

@@CaetsuChaijiCh I left summoner at 41 I was/still am a white mage main in my group (we are a group of 4 leveling together, so I choose healer my other half choose tank his bro choose DPS and my friend who joined us recently is also dps so we got a good group going 😂) but when no one is online I tend to level up other jobs or at least that's what I was doing before we took a break. I really enjoyed leveling up scholar and summoner together.

New to the game I really love arcanist/summoner but after I lvled to 6 I fell in complete confusion how skills work for this class. Thank you for the guide!
This was a really great guid, switched to a new computer recently only to find all my hotbars reset and am taking this as an opportunity to experiment with the layout so having a clear rotation guide like this is a blessing! Also if anyone knows how to make sure my hotbar settings dont get reset if I ever change my pc again that would be fab lmao
Your ui settings are saved in the dat and cfg files, as well as possibly the folders which are found in documents/my games/final fantasy xiv - a realm reborn. Or something to that effect. It's also where the default location is for your screen shots in the game. I recommend just moving it all when switching to a new pc 😊
Summoner has sooooo many buttons I was so overwhelmed. I think its because the buttons don't "appear" until it gets unlocked by pressing something else which made it hard for me to remember what button is what when I'm trying to setup my bar.
That is actually a very interesting perspective! That is true, Summoner has a lot of buttons, they are just stacked very high on top of each other compared to other jobs! I hope you figured out something that works for you with the job! 😊

One question i'm having as I'm learning summoner. With Garuda namely, should the Wind aspected Gemshine/Precious Brilliance be prioritized over Ruin/Outburst? I probably should attempt the math between the cast times of both, but it's unfortunate you cannot read the aspected skills outside of combat.
I do believe I do the math In the video at the specific times they come up 😉 The answer is you should use genshine and precious brilliance. An extra benefit is that as they are instant, you can get slightly more auto attacks in while doing them over regular ruin and outburst. Summoner has weirdly strong auto attacks for a mage, especially in this level range 😊

I've been making use of the instant casts for sure, it is nice that by 60 only ifrit requires a steady cast.

You choose whichever race and clan you like the most 😊 The stat differences between each race and clan are so miniscule that you can hardly tell the difference and only the most excessive optimizers at max level even consider choosing a specific race for optimization because the difference in performance is so tiny 😄
My second hotbar uses shift as a modifier. The third uses Alt. I should mention I use an mmo mouse with a thumb grid to reach the right half of my hotbars 😊
@CaetsuChaijiCh sorry just to be clear I'm a new player so I have that experience boost status automatically so I'm almost level 50 just from doing the msq and job quests with almost no side content
@cpt.arctourus7950 that's understandable! Fortunately with the way the main quest is paced, you shouldn't land in content for level 35+ before you are able to get titan. Same with Garuda 😊 But it does get awkward with how far ahead the road bonus gets you 😅
Make sure to do your Class quests! Those are highlighted right underneath your Main Scenario Quest if you have one! I believe the Topaz Carbuncle spell is unlocked by doing the level 15 quest specifically, but you need to do your class quests to even unlock summoner in the first place, not to mention many of your spells and abilities!
Because level 50 presents both a rather long stopping point in gaining new skills for new players due to the A Realm Reborn postgame story being really long, but also because most jobs have a basic rotation finished by this point. This leaves the remaining portion up to level 90 to be covered separately, which I do in this other guide: th-cam.com/video/Y7AicCwtlZU/w-d-xo.html
The job is certainly very different, but as someone who mained summoner before it's rework, I can say new summoner is fun in a different way. It might be worth giving it a try 😊

Surprisingly potent! But it is actually really funny that a significant part of Summoners early game DPS stems from auto attacks! 😆

just so we all know you have to beat the realm reborn quests to get the evolved summons yes it is a pain in the ass
Yeah it is a bit strange but you have to beat certain msq tasks before the job quests unlock 😅
