Stevie Ray Vaughan - Crossfire | Drum Cover
New VAD716 owner here, and a long time Yamaha Recording Custom drummer. I am looking for a comprehensive RC sample pack that includes the 8" tom, but not having much luck. The new V71 has the RC kick drum installed, but none of the toms. I found the 10"-14" RC toms under the DBMIX Vol01Vintage Drums expansion kit, but it doesn't have the 8" which is a bummer. I wish Roland organized their kits a bit better so users aren't going on a fishing expedition to find their fav drum brands.
@@oberday with the VEdit settings that are super powerful, i would go with the DBMIX vol1 and tune up the 10" recording custom tom. They sound amazing! I did a demo of the DBMix vol 1 if you Want to hear it. After using all the expansion packs, they are completing some of the samples from the built in library
@@simonaubrydrums I have done just that, tweaking between tuning and shell depth to get the right tonality. But I have to pitch it WAY up to get the 8" tom tuning that I like
@@oberday then it works! Sometimes you really need to tweak a lot. But VEdit is incredible in the V71. Way more powerfull than the TD50x (and it was already good in the TD50x)
Nice. Are these drummer position or FOH (processed)
@@peterkirdan It is not confirmed in the pack, but since they are mixed by Dan Blessinger in Studio, for me they feel more Producer Position.
You still hear it on the new 71 module
@@drummerboy100jh these are not the built in samples of the V71. But if you don’t like How the toms sound, nobody is forcing you to buy it. You can still use VST
Yes that's true but I was responding to the comment about still having the machine gun sounding effect on the tom's in 2024, I think they should have that figured out by now. Yes those toms through the expansion pack sound better then any of the Roland tom's even on the TD 50x.
Once again Roland is pushing the boundaries getting so close with an acoustic kit and with the overall disability there's no other choice check mate.
Exactly!!! V71 is really the king of the edrums right now. Incredible sound library, so many possibilities, an editor for the computer, the best electronic snare so far. Incredible time to be a drummer right now
@simonaubrydrums Lucky you to have one to demonstrate to us.
I'm not sure what's worse...the stupid faces you make while playing like crap....or the shit Roland sounds??
Have you spent much time in the Roland Cloud and trying out those kits? How do they compare to the V71 Presets?
@@Zursen yess i did some videos on the expansion packs on my Channel! I tried them all, but didn’t have the time to do a video for each. I’ll try to do this before Christmas. My favorite packs are DBmix #1 Vintage Drums and DW 50th anniversary drummers position! (I did a video for these two)
@simonaubrydrums do you think the expansion packs are of higher quality compared to the module default presets?
@ not really. They offer different sounds. I love them because i’ll have more options to create my kit (DW shells, recording custom toms, etc), but from what I saw, the packs only include drums. You don’t have any cymbals samples for the majority of them. You can clearly have enough fun without the packs. Feel free to got get the Vdrums legacy packs, they are free and will have some samples from the Previous vdrums lines. (Cymbals, drums, percs etc.)
I like to know if is better than Alesis strata ?
@@georgizhivkov5883 way better. The triggering is way more advanced than Alesis, the sound library and the possibilities of the brain. Strata is a toy in term of quality compared to the VAD716 !
I have a Roland TD27 module and i'm SOOOOOO frustrated about Roland's tom sounds... I can't believe they still can't fix it! They don't have the excuse why is it sounding like plastic. Also, how is machine gunning is still a thing in 2024??? I hoped they will figure out something after Roland bought DW
@@JirForce actually, these toms sound amazing. I understand your point about the TD-27, but this expansion pack sounds incredible
I have Vad 507 and used only sd3. Now I had to upgrade my module to v71.
Nice work man! I love the camera angle and the drum set! Looks and sounds awesome! Keep on rocking 🎉cause
@@AutoMadoc thanks man!! Really appreciated. Will keep up rocking for suuuure!
I am looking for Yamaha Recording Custom tom samples. Just got the V71, it has the RC kick but not the toms. Any idea where I can get these? I've searched through the expansion packs but nothing yet. If no RC toms exists, then any other birch toms would substitute.
@@oberday the recording custom toms are in the DBMix volume one: Vintage drums expansion pack. They sound amazing. I’ll do a sound demo of it tomorrow. Here is the link: www.roland.com/us/products/rc_dbmix_vol_01_vintage_drums/
Nice but the sound is in mono, how are you recording video?
@@JustanEdrummer i record everything in stereo, but there is pan set up in the module if you ever need to do settings
You look like @aljokes
@@MrMcNuggettt You’re not wrong ahah!
Pourquoi DistroKid masque mes videos TH-cam dans certains pays? Svp
il faudrait contacter le support technique de Distrokid. Je sais que certains pays comme la russie ou la biélorussie peuvent être bloqués parfois
Still needs serious tweaks, All the frequencies an engineer will take out are still there on most of the tom sounds. The so called rock kits are still all wrong and sound nothing like any rock kit I have ever heard.
@@grumpy8413 your TH-cam name represents your argument ahaha! No need to be always saying « from what I have heard ». Tweak it if you need to. There is always tweaking on acoustic drums too, part of the musician life is finding our sound.
This groove is so infectious lol I think it’s the kick groove you’re playing 🔥 I like it and also you’re “drummer faces” are like the best 😂 they aren’t overly silly and obnoxious. Fits your playing style well
@@DAnthony14 thank you so Much!! This comment makes my day ahaha!
i cannot believe how bad sometimes these Roland sounds sound.
These are DW samples.. Not Roland sounds...
@@simonaubrydrums😂😂 makes perfect sense!
@@13thousandmonkeyshonestly i prefer the 50th anniversary pack! But Pure Maple still sound great😂
Where did you get your friend kit? I'm trying to buy but I can't find delivery available.
@@cesarallmeida I don’t know where you are living but we have them in stock in Canada since the launch on September 26th. I know they are popular so maybe they sold out fast. Contact your local dealer and check with them, they will have more information than me! Hope it helps.
Expansion pack seems more sonically pleasing than the original kits
Depends of the expansion packs, but they are a great add on for sure!
@@simonaubrydrums man , is this for the new Roland drums Only? or can these work on Roland TD 17?
@ for now, it only works with the V71. If you are looking for kits for the TD-17, I know there are some free packs on Roland cloud! They won’t be DW, but they do sound great!
They only sound like that to those who complain that a Wurlitzer electric piano sounds nothing like a Steinway grand, or that an overdriven Fender Strat sounds nothing like a Cole Clark acoustic guitar.
@@mdmorris6193 that’s right!
@ the thing that does my head in, Simon, is that no-one who has ever recorded their voice and realised that what the mic picks up sounds nothing like what they hear in their heads has ever considered that a drum would be exactly the same. As soon as you put a mic on a drum, it becomes the mic’s interpretation of what the drum sounds like!
Kit 001 sounds like shit, what the fuck and all the other kits sound ultra processed. The snare and kick are a nightmare
curious. you have had this module about 3 weeks? are you sick of any of the kits? do you find yourself playing a particular kit more than other kits? great playing btw.
@@bruceperkins2921 thanks man! Still not tired of any kits for now. With my TD50X, i built a lot of custom kits and used no built in kits (for me, they wère all terrible. They were good foundation to create you own kits), but with the V71, the presets are so good that I don’t feel the need for that. My favorite kits are the #1 and #4. All the presets are incredible, but i don’t feel the need to switch because Studio A sounds like the perfect drum kit for me. I’ll start to explor the editing soon!
Let’s go!!!
Sounds like someone pushing buttons on an iPad ! It’s not your playing, it’s the Roland module. Horrible!
Does Roland edrum always sounds like no dynamic, machine gun trigger, I tried Roland v506? Or something like that, it sounds like cheap edrum!
no dynamics? what? we clearly not played the same VAD716...
@ it’s Roland vad506, very funny kick drum with a center pad in the center of “head”? USB Snare drum…..the sounds is just so normal and the price is so high, I really can’t notes how the trigging feels, the drum make me feel like running away…, it is not much better than my super old Yamaha DTX….
@@joekao192 maybe it is not the right kit for you then! We all like different things. I’m pretty sure you’ll find a kit you like soon!
I really like #4 jazz kit and the way you play it too awesome.
@@navigatorcs thank you!! I really love it too, it is one of the best kits in my opinion!
I own a VAD706 and I'm going to buy the module/snare separately for the upgrade. Did you sell your entire VAD706 then upgrade to VAD716? Expensive upgrades eh? How you finding the new module & snare, worth the upgrade? Do you still use VSTs etc. Would be great for a comparison review of some kind
I never used VSTs, even with TD50x. The upgrade is really worth it (i’ll talk about it in a future video). I think you better keep your kit, it is less expensive to upgrade that way. The new snare is an absolute gem, it is the best snare I never played on a edrum!
@@simonaubrydrumswhat playable did you find between the two digital snares?
@ the PD14DSX feels way better because they removed the rubber from the rim to put in around the meshheads. I no longer have any misstriggered rimshots or anything. They actually managed to do the best edrum snare ever, and the PD140DS was actually the best one before
Really good sounds but It must be expensive. I juste bought a TD 27KV2 last month but it's already a great change compared to my old TD 15KV
@@LaZicos td27kv2 is an amazing kit. V71 is expensive, but hi end kits at Roland are always expensive unfortunately.
how does it feel. That's the more important question.
@@JiTiAr35 it feeels amazing. I’ll cover more about the kit on future videos, but the new snare (PD14DSX) is an absolute pleasure to play. Probably the best edrum kit ever
@@simonaubrydrums 👍
@@JiTiAr35 They feel great on my TD716. Best ever on an eKit. But. It’s psychoacoustic. Ummm…try again, Dean. OK. Take Tom pad 1. Put a high pitched tom sound on it. The head feels tight. Now, same pad, put a lower pitched sound on it…and the pad feels softer under the stick. I’ve been playing mesh pads since the TD10 kit, and this phenomenon still fools me. Mate…what a great time to be a drummer!
Hey man great stuff. Loosen the cymbals all the way and you'll find that they swing and react more acoustically. They still trigger the same
@@daveseemerollin6357 thanks for the tip! I got used to play like this with my VAD706, but I will loose them a little bit
I wish Roland releases a successor to TD 17 very soon. There’s absolutely no way I could afford this kit.
@@jeffreblanco9552 hope too! A TD-17 with a sound engine similar to the V71 would be a killer kit
The overall durability for roland v drums products make them the best choice in this case we hear and updated sounds so close to real drums sounds nice.
@@Lemordison92 yes really! The V71 is a game changer.
@@simonaubrydrums Just like roland always the next step someday fully usb all around the kit just like with what they did with hi hat snare ride.
@@Lemordison92 that makes sense! It Would be the next big step!
@@simonaubrydrums In the next generation of v drums 4-5 years maybe from today.
very cool man. But where's your other tom gone? ;)
@@Acoustic2Electronic i don’t like having two rack toms!;)

@@NECROMANIA they sound amazing! I’ll do similar videos for the expansion packs!
@@simonaubrydrums Sure 👍🏻
