Gene Krupa 1971, les yeux noir, dark eyes, schwarze augen, djorna
This is one of my favourite drum solos and heard a truck load, just gorgeous.
The one and only Chet baker without a doubt Chet had the tone that magic tone and phrasings also Chet had a great singing voice
fire
the drumming's great but can we talk about that insane sax sound
Wow he was baking a cake
Grandioso!
1 tom y 1 tom de piso. Un genio.
Buddy Rich’s Talent was on a whole different level than Krupa or any other drummer from their era! PERIOD!
What a phenomenal musician Gene Krupa was. Thanks for sharing this!
Groove, taste, feel. Gene, Gene, Gene Krupa
the problem with world class drummers often is that they are way too loud and distract from the other players. They think they play a solo instrument because they are so good, but they don't. One of the worst was Tony Williams, terrible, but luckily (not for his friends, but the world of jazz) this guy died early.
Yes
Krupa was way ahead of his time ! Way different style than buddy of Louie . Bud and Louie lean more toward big band ! Now gene . You can clearly hear the jazz even fusion and even notes of tribal !! Much different style .
As far as I know, Fred Astaire sang this first, but this may be my favorite Mel Torme one. So beautiful, haunting, and understated and only a bit over 2 minutes.
立川談志だ是え‼️。💢💢💢。😃💡⤴️。
Самая популярная мелодия всех времен и народов
This is so good! I came here looking for Gene Krupa, who influenced Bill Ward.
Nice to see Peter Sellers on sax there......
Anyone know the other players? Excellent group interplay here. Krupa was a tremendous big-band drummer but he shows tremendous craft and subtlety here in a small group. Shelly Manne (with Ornette Coleman, Art Pepper, etc.) and Mel Lewis (with Warne Marsh, Chet Baker, Joe Lovano, etc.) could pull this off as well.
The greatest drummer, ever...
Humbled! Awesome stuff
Krupa was always more musical.
Beautiful 💕
I'm a huge Buddy Rich fan but recently I have discovered the genius of Mr Krupa!!
The best!
30's and 40's

Master's drummers
"Gene Krupa was the first rock drummer in very many ways. Without Gene Krupa, there wouldn't have been a Keith Moon." Neil Peart
He was one of the first metal heads! A rockstar I'd say...
O rei do ritmo 🥁
Da man..
Gene new where one was, fabulous just fabulous.
El mejor baterista de Jazz, y probablemente de toda historia de la música.
Drums sound like timpani! Amazing
holy 70s set!
Ο ΜΕΓΑΛΥΤΕΡΟΣ ΝΤΡΑΜΕΡ
Who's that on piano? Lovely feel.
Name of the saxplayer?
Eugene Amaro
That sort of triplet rhythm at 2:09 - pretty sophisticated. Not just anyone could do that, maybe not even BR
80 % , or more of John Bonham is Gene Krupa. , and I’m a huge Zep fan
It's funny, I don't consider myself as jazz enthusiast yet I have heard of this rendition of Dark Eyes several times.
sweet as.
These are proper drummers. I’ve played in bands for for 27 years and still haven’t found a drummer that understands how to play for the song 🤦🏻
This music is great, these guys are top class at their craft Mind blowing in so many directions, sich stuff condensed in a few lines of a music piece. The ways the go, they could play this jaming it for hours to no end, their range is just mesmerizing
Paraphrase of an interview I saw of Krupa: I was trained to play dance drums. Even if in the wildest solo, if the beat wasn't there, and people couldn't dance to it, I would feel I were failing in the solo. That's a very close paraphrase. I'm just an average drummer, but the greatest compliment I ever got was by a fellow musician who said, "Every thing you play feels funky." I can live with that. I'd rather have feel than the chops of Buddy Rich X 10, and that is not to be negative whatsoever of Buddy Rich or technique. Technique is important, but feel is much more important. Krupa had the greatest feel, in my humble opinion, ever, followed closely by John Bonham. Rich and Krupa were both masters in their own way. We were lucky to have had them both behind the kit. Oh, one other thing: That little snare piece from 30-35 seconds just captures the essence of Krupa so well.... just a handful of notes that swings like a mother... simple, but so dynamic, cool, and perfect for the song transition.
