I used to alternate a hard game that required a lot of focus with easier ones, but nowadays I only focus on a single game at a time. I find that I make more progress if i just concentrate on just one at a time, but that's going to depend on what keeps you entertained and also how much free time you have. I do play non-shmup games on the side though.

@@TheSamuraiGoomba I think 🤔 it had the potential to be better than windjammers but the balance is absolutely wild to me, and the stiff yet precise controls then it into something different. Was playing some on stream yesterday and developed unblockable tech with Yamada cuz someone in chat wanted me to try him

@@AKTANEARCADE The ball looks way slower too. Not sure if that means it's easier or harder to reach the ball, but the whole pace of the game seems slower than windjammers. In terms of this kind of game (basically tennis or table hockey,) there's windjammers and mario tennis n64 occupying the top spots. Kind of invalidating other games unless they are A+. Oh yeah and there's Butasan if you want something similar but totally hilarious.

@@Ishmokin ah okay yeah I didn't try much of version 2, but if I remember correctly the beginner mode want something I enjoyed when I tried it. But I should go back and see ! I'm playing the game now a bit and trying to see if I can get a route together

@@blazinglazers69 you know what my advice is to play it hard for a week, goof off with the challenges..and if you don't get a clear, just play it occasionally randomly, it'll happen. Also type C OP. As evidenced haha

You don't have to 1cc to unlock it, you can credit feed mild mode and it should give you the unlock

@@boghogSTG I'm not trying to 1cc im just trying to beat it i came very close with type a them lock on lasers do massive damage type b is pretty good i like the pink sweets bomb mechanic which is also quite powerful definitely helps if you play aggressively with type b all three ships shine in their own way but if i had to choose out of the three it would be type a

@@boghogSTG NGDEV needs to bring Fast Striker and Neo Xyx to switch hopefully they do one day and if they bring Last Hope to Switch that is one game that gave me PTSD the difficulty is unforgiving

@@AKTANEARCADE hey man, I have progressed quite a bit on this list - today finally Mushi OG novice 1cc after weeks of failure and frustration -, and so I would like to give you some more pointers. Most of the games in the brand new to shmups section I played (and liked) were a 1cc on first or second attempt. The one title you might want to reassess would be DDP DFK novice 1.5 imo. I think it's comparable to Mushihimesama Futari Novice Ultra (spicy section), but it throws even more stuff at you. In terms of difficulty I would rank this challenge between Mushi Futari Novice Ultra and Mushi OG Novice Original, so more like Spicy section. Regarding the Touhou titles the easiest and most beginner-friendly games in my opinion are Danmaku Festival 2 -> Blue Devil -> Danmaku Festival 1 -> Touhou 8 (if you use Reimu/Barrier team because it gives you a generous deathbomb window). I would put all the other Touhou titles (so far) at least into Spicy. These games are not very generous with lives and bombs and there is also no autobomb which would essentially allow you to take considerably more hits. Does the discord server still exist?

It's a rough one to start with cuz it sets the bar kinda high! The one thing that I didn't fully get from ZR that I'm getting elsewhere is a scoring system that is dynamic enough for me to enjoy. I'm not big on chains and multipliers, much prefer big juicy cancels 😩

@@AKTANEARCADE Agreed that the scoring in ZR is not that dynamic - but everything else is so good it actually makes me want to work at the 8CC 1-all, then 2-all, then... We'll see! It is difficult in a genre with such codified features to see innovation the way platformers have seen in the indie space. Thanks for highlighting indie shmups here as well :)
