I bought this lens a few days ago for $150 Aud, I bought a second Helios 44m lens of a guy that had the Jupiter 21m I thought y not give it a go, the lens was surprisingly a lot sharper then I was expecting, awesome bokeh so happy with the lens. hmm, not sure thats it's better than Helios 44-2. Because I have two of 44-2 and one Zenithar 1.9/50 and I clearly see that sharpness on 44-2 is better. But Zenithar can colour the image in interesting retro way

Probably not a lens I'll ever see, let alone use, but a fascinating review nonetheless. Happy New Year and looking forward to seeing more content in 2025.

will this run on Origin OS?

Hello I have the TK-2D version. I know it is for rangefinders but the elements seem to be smaller than the TK-2’s! I am wondering if that will cause vignetting with my industar 50 or 26 or 61. One thing I will say is it is made by Tochpribor factory and not Diaprojector. Their logos are very similar but the logo on the lens is just the Tochpribor one without the triangles filled in. You will notice the lines dont enter the circle and the entire logo forma a full ellipse while the Diapojector does not

I discovered this function when I brought a flashlight from my smartphone to the lens. only I used an old spotlight, the beam it emits is visible from the plane 👽

This lens can produce wonderful black and white photos, so contrasty and beautiful like a pencil sketching.

Letter А in USSR lens name usually means that it has changeable tail piece (typically m39 and m42). It is extremely cool lens for portraits, because it's not crispy sharp and gives smooth skin texture. Girls would like it)) I tried to use it with my DSLR as a telephoto lens and found that it's hard to focus on infinity, as if focusing ring need to be turned a couple of millimetres more. Though it works fine with Zenit cameras.

So there is no way to install the monitor arms in the middle of desk

Very nice review of a fantastic lens. I had it with my old zenit ttl (my first slr) and i regret my decision to give it away (i thought that it would be too much, since i already had the 44-m7, bundled with my zenit 122-my second zenit purchase). The 44-m7 has more contrast and color saturation-enough to be apparent in the shots, but nothing like night and day difference. Finally, contrary to the hype, the Valdai quality is more than just ok. I never had optical issues of any short. The only thing i did was to regrease it after 24 years of use.

I color grade my dng directly to Davinci Resolve so I can get most of the footage and remember you have to import dng secqense correctly or you can't play back otherwise and it will ruin your export as well. Or of course pro res 444 will alternative in Motion Cam Tools don't use other formats because you loose more info for further color grading. And there is list available on internet to help looking for phone that get better results from this app so very useful to watch it but of course some phones that's still works with app may not be on list.

In my One Plus CE 5g it's only hd without frame dropping 😢 but still the results are amazing especially in skin tones look like from cinema camera even better than some DSLRs can provide. Of course still it's look like from phone footage maybe 1inch sensor owner in smartphone will more get real cinema camera type looking footage consider that BMPCC OG have very close to one inch sensor size sensor. So this app is still for flagship smartphone owners because in need a lot of hardware power to shoot hi resolution footage. But if want get maximum quality for color grading it's a best app that available today.

I got one for 50€ with a working Zenit EM, original leather case and a working flash... The camera has the 1980 Moscow Olympics mark on it as well. It has a couple of scratches on the front and back elements though but nothing too severe. It doesn't impact sharpness, rather just contrast and bloom in general. Am looking at getting a metal lens hood for it, I've seen it can take a 52mm screw on bayonet style lens hood so I'll get it one of those, hopefully that improves the bloom.

Please be advised the latest firmware version 3.70 for the Z7 is buggy. You no longer can see non-cpu information with either the FTZ and FTZii adapter

A brave butultimately a futile effort. The QC of the Soviet era lenses were so poor that each lens is almost a invidual and unique product.

This lens is optimised for close focus work, its actually a macro lens.

I can't seem to get it working properly for video shoot, for photography is beautiful. Is there a particular settings for video?

These go for about 40 bucks. There was one in my community thrift in S.F. three days ago. Super clean. But when I saw the ebay prices the same, ($40.) I thought, well, no hurry here..then I watched Simon Utach's videos on all of these...

I have a 40 year old Sigma 70-150mm F/3.5 and I haven't been able to find a mount adapter for this lens. I do have a Canon RP full frame as well as a Canon SL3 with a crop sensor. the lens itself it says it was made for Olympus. Please help me find and adapter. I would love to take some photos with is Sigma lens.

Would you prefer this or Jupiter 37A for regular street photo and traveling?

Can I just say I am shopping for standing desks right now, and there are about 50 million options, and about 600 billion review videos of all the options. This was one of the few review videos that ADDED commentary and ADDED value to me as a shopper. There are so many review videos where they just show themselves using the desk and reading a bunch of features that are already available online, but you actually talked about your EXPERIENCE with it and also TESTED the features on screen for us, which is what shoppers are looking for. This is one of the few ACTUALLY helpful reviews I came across in a slew of nonsense. Thank you so much! <3

Does this lens have a lens hood?

I have a TAIR-11A myself same markings as your example except the six digit serial number starts with 00 so not the year of production. When I tested this lens it appears to perform significantly better wide open than your example. I've used it since the mid-90's for astrophotography. I'd be very interested in your input on its history & suggestions for other uses.

Does the Vivo have a Motion Photo feature? I've used Motion Photos for years on other phones to get the best frame. I now have the x100Pro global version, which I mostly love, but if it had Motion Photo too, that'd be brilliant.

Did they call it the SH because they ran out of letters?

The best ever analog SLR 50mm Lens are the Contax Zeiss Planar 50mm 1.7 T*, second are the Canon FDn 50mm 1.4 !

The Lenses may be better than most other on most other phones, but the camera sensors are too small !
